I would like to write a good review but, I have been forced to write a bad one. I will try to be quite honest. I stayed from Sunday to Wednesday. The pictures above don't represent my room. On waking to go out into Boulder to explore I went to the front desk to ask someone to exchange all used articles and plunge the toilet that stopped up. The man at the front desk said he he definitely do so. However, when I came back that night the only thing done was the plunged toilet. In the morning I was awoken early to the sound of construction in the room next door!! No one called to see if I wanted to move. No one came to my door to tell me. There were rooms available as well. Tuesday I reported to the front desk what happened. That day I left again when I came back the bed was made like a five year old had done it! No change of towels or soaps nothing. The scenery was really nice! When you speak to the front desk people were nice but, afterwards I feel like they were mocking me. On the first day of exploring Boulder with family I saw a really cute picture to hang up on the wall in the hotel that I had bought thinking this place needs some love however, after everything I decided to not leave it! This was a nightmare stay that only lasted 2 hrs! The rooms are outdated and dirty, completely misrepresented by the owners! The bathroom was dirty with dead bugs around the sink, towels were stained heavily, there was the previous residents old moldy food and drinks in fridge. There is absolutely no AC! Was told to open a window!, my nephew was so overheated that he was crying nonstop, their solution was to bring us small fans that were dirty- I mean literally caked with dust! At this point I went over to talk with one of the two owners- not sure of his name (Asian decent) who was rude and argumentative, kept telling me that they were not misrepresenting, but I had misinterpreted their website pictures - I informed him my only expectation was a clean rustic stay, with pictures that match the room I booked. Was told that wasn't my rooms bathroom, I told them that it wasn't so much as the outdated pictures but the fact that it wasn't even clean! He continued to argue with me until Chris (other owner) came and intervened. The only reason I am giving them one star is that Chris was the polar opposite of his partner and listened to my concern and stated he appreciated the feedback. The last straw was when my brother found a human tooth on the floor in his room where his 14 month old son was walking around! At that point there was no question of issuing a full refund! Also- there was a up charge to rooms- I was charged 149.00 a night, when booking another hotel saw that the charges for boulder adventure lodge was 49.00 a night! Seriously people! They stated that they are trying to fix up the hotel a " little" at a time, but at what cost to the patrons?! read more

This place is absolutely fantastic. Beautiful and well kept with a creek running through the entire property and twinkle lights over the common space making the atmosphere magical. Whether camping or staying in a room in the lodge you have access to amenities like the hot tub in a gazebo (which is still open during Covid but is only available to one party at a time and sanitized between uses, making it feel extra private and cozy). Lastly the staff is the cherry on top of an already great place. They are so friendly and welcoming and make you feel at home in a way that makes it feel like this is your personal mountain getaway only minutes from Boulder. Jackson was particularly kind and helpful and gave me the insider scoop on where to hike and he was absolutely right. If you need any more encouragement to stay here I'll just add that I was only planning to stay one night and ended up staying three... book away ;) read more

Really enjoyed my stay at the hostel section of the Boulder A Lodge. It's conveniently located by the bus stop heading up and down the canyon into Boulder (it's walkable to downtown - half hour of a lovely canyon). The place is maintained, kept clean, the hostel (mixed male and female) has a full kitchen, nice bathroom and shower, and a lot of features as part of the lodge: nice hot tub, fire pit, grilling area, trails right there, a friendly and knowledgable staff (outdoors peeps) almost each of which have their own dog there which makes it a family type atmosphere. The WiFi everywhere is a great feature, the communal new lodge area to lounge about with WiFi is also pleasant and cozy. The breakfast is good and the feature of a washer & dryer is a nice bonus. I enjoyed my stay there very much and recommend it. It's not right in town, which makes it even nicer. read more

Though as mentioned in other reviews that the rooms are worn and in need of touch-ups (e.g. new carpeting), the Lodge is clean, comfortable, cozy, friendly, only a 10-minute drive from the Boulder Mall, and perched among beautiful scenery. It's nice to be able to go for a run from your room onto the Boulder Creek Trail. I would stay here again. read more

Home away from home! Without a doubt one of the best hostels i've had the privilege of crashing at in the states. The staff was kind and professional, the rooms were clean, and the grounds looked incredible. I might've not been able to explore Boulder had it not been for the affordability of A-lodge. Checked in for one night initially and ended up extending it a day or two at a time for a whole week. The staff was wonderfully helpful and all very pleasant, and the rooms themselves were cozy and ours had an awesome tub w jets . It's right on a creek (Boulder Creek I believe) and had hammock and sitting spots where you could watch the hummingbirds fly by. Had a few hiking trails behind the rooms as well. We loved it here and can't wait to come back next time we're in the area! read more

The room smells. No a/c. What was once chabby chic is now just cheap. Sheets are used as curtains, the cheapest possible light fixtures and bed linens. Does not live up to its pre flood standards. The ancient refrigerator in the room has so much frost (no door on freezer section) the refrigerator does not work. Disappointing, but location is still awesome. Not worth the price read more

I had a wonderful time during my stay here. Everyone on the A-Lodge team and its owners were super friendly and helpful. The new community room is awesome (really cool decor, too) and we even got to see a live band one night. Great hiking nearby and beautiful property. It's got a lot of rustic charm along with modern conveniences. I'd pick this place over a stuffy hotel any day and it perfectly exemplifies what Colorado is about. The location was wonderful and the rooms were comfortable but I was disappointed with much of my experience at the A-Lodge on my first visit this past weekend. I opted to switch rooms after my first night since the hostel section was too noisy for me to get enough sleep, and upon switching rooms I was double charged for my stay. I tried inquiring about the paperwork I was signing during my room shift and re-check in process, and the front desk staffer assured me that he hadn't charged my card the first time we arranged for my my room swap, but I just checked my credit card balance and I was indeed charged twice for my entire stay. The staff had graciously offered me a discount as I switched rooms, but they let my breakfast for the next day spoil on the counter (they had a fridge in the office but just left my yogurt on the counter all day after I asked if they could stash it in the fridge for me) while my new room was being cleaned and I left site for the day. This was especially disappointing since I have food allergies and brought a small coconut milk yogurt and almond milk to save cash on eating out for breakfast. Also, unpleasantly, there was dog and human hair in the sheets of the bed in my new room that I had paid a higher rate to stay in (I'm allergic to dogs). The office had closed early that night and did not answer my phone call attempting to request new sheets. Housekeeping swapped my sheets out the following morning, but sleeping in this bedding felt dirty and I woke up with a puffy face and sinus issues. I wish I would have had a more smooth stay since the location was gorgeous and accessible. I may have just caught the A-Lodge off their A-game. read more

This place was great. My wife and I stayed here a couple of months back. We had a nice and relaxing time. It's just outside of town, so it feels secluded...but it's close enough so that you can get to everything quickly. Everyone we dealt with was great. Our room was cozy, and we even got to see snow. No A/C! I cannot stress this enough. No A/C! We arrived on a day is was 100 degrees in Boulder - yes, it gets that hot even in the mountains of Colorado. This was a surprise to us, as no A/C is not expressively stated anywhere on the website. The rooms are priced reasonably compared to other places in Boulder; however, for No A/C! the price should be lower still. One other thing - a staff member in the check-in area (not the woman at the desk) smelled very strongly of alcohol and was very clearly inebriated. A person in this state should not be allowed to interact with incoming guests at all. He stared at my wife and I for a long and uncomfortable period. I will say this though: If window A/C was installed, this place would be awesome. I love renovated and remade roadside motels. Its an encouraging trend among hoteliers. They are architecturally more interesting than a prison-like Hampton Inn or high-rise. The Lark in Bozeman, MT is the standard bearer. The A-Lodge has more natural beauty, and its rustic and personal. The location is perfect, as well. read more

This place has got awesome staff and an awesome atmosphere. Staff do a good job of trouble shooting problems, orienting travelers and maintaining a positive environment. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The environment is positively beautiful, featuring green trees and a cooling brook. Coffee, tea, and water are available 24/7 at the help-desk which is just a short trip from even the farthest room. 5/5, would stay again. read more

What a unique place! I seriously didn't know what to expect when my husband told me we would be staying here for a wedding. The A Lodge is a charming little motel/inn located just up 4 mile hwy in Boulder. The rooms are clean. We stayed in one of the older buildings so it could do with some updating but that being said it was still comfortable. The service was superb! They do provide coffee and a few breakfast items in the morning or you could just bring your own. Our room had a small kitchen area. Boulder creek runs through the property. It was lovely to sit by the creek and sip my coffee. It is still close enough to drive into town and enjoy Pearl street mall and it's many restaurants and shopping areas. read more

I don't remember having such a good nights sleep in well forever; firm yet inviting bed. The views day and night are really breath taking. I do have to say that no toiletries is a flaw; not only for a traveler from afar but as well for a souvenir. It's a self promoting engine for you:)) take advantage! I will tell my adventurous friends and clients to come here... Definitely! Overall it's a gem! Rustic , a little bare I must say, for as much character as it has outside I would love to see it inside. Simple yet warm. Some of the furniture was out of place; I suggest role playing it, pretend your a traveler with suitcase and all, then come in and open bag start putting your things away and you'll have a better feel of where furniture and things should go. This is not the Ritz, TBH, but it has a very cool young vibe you won't find there. As you can see from the pics, the lobby is very cozy. Our room was a renovated old motel room, but the place was perfectly clean, sheets were cotton and the bedding was perfect: soft and firm. And it had a cozy wool throw. No signal here, but the wifi works well. The folks at the front desk, just about as helpful as they can be. Can't wait to have an excuse to come back. read more

Absolutely beautiful place to stay, nestled in the trees with a babbling brook. We saw a deer in the morning in the parking area. The staff is very friendly, laid-back and professional. The room was clean and tastefully decorated in the Adventure theme and with historical Boulder pictures. Outdoors has places to sit and enjoy nature, chat, swim and enjoy hot tubs. It was a serene place, away from the hub-bub of Boulder, yet only 5 minutes from Pearl Street's great restaurants. Only 20 minutes from El Dorado Canyon - a great place for hiking with spectacular views and a fantastic place for rock climbing. It feels good to support individuals who are creative and hard-working, rather than staying at a huge hotel chain with cookie-cutter rooms. Thanks for a wonderful stay! read more

These guys are amazing, I cant say enough about not only the staff but the owners themselves who will go above and beyond to make you stay perfect. My wife and I stayed here for 5 days and honestly wish I could have stayed another 5 or shoot just move in. The location is great for anyone who loves outdoors, skiing, rock climbing, biking, running, hiking up the trails (which there are a ton), and also going swimming in the river. The TV's come fully loaded with HBO, but I cant say enough about the staff and the owners and just how friendly they were and willing to stop what they were doing to help when needed. I give this place 6 stars and will most defiantly stay again. read more

Quiet yet fun, languid yet active, the vibe of this place is just right. The main office was newly renovated when we visited and it's beautiful. I want to come back and just sit around reading Kerouac, Krakauer, maybe some Faulkner. Front desk service spot on. Each employee is informative and friendly. Linger around long enough and they have fantastic stories of their own spirited adventures. There is an overt feeling of love for Boulder here and it's infectious. When I go in to town and pass any brand name pedestrian hotel I scoff and think, how could you choose any other place than the A-lodge? Friendly dogs roam alongside employees and guests alike. A small creek runs through the property, which can be followed down to the least trafficked portion of the Boulder Creek trail and enjoy a pleasant walk as far back to town as you desire. It snowed on us twice and hope it does for you as well, because it's truly magical. Came with my wife and 5 year old daughter and we were totally comfortable and pleased. We enjoyed the funky mountain deco in the rooms. We enjoyed the hiking trails behind the property. We simply enjoyed it all and will be coming back. read more

It was nestled into the mountains, providing great scenery and a relaxing natural environment. If we had stayed longer than I night I definitely would have spent time in the hammocks, pool, and/or hot tub outside. Love it! The room was not fantastic, but like I said, I'm sure it will be great once the renovations are done. It was nicely decorated and the bathroom was fine for a nice hot shower after 3 nights in a campground beforehand! However, it was really warm at night (I don't think the A/C was working) and the walls were thin enough already to let lots of noise in before I opened the window to let in the breeze. So that made it difficult to sleep despite the comforts of the room. With all that said, I would try this place again! read more

This Lodge was pretty amazing. We were in Boulder for the night and didn't want to pay $300 for a overpriced Hotel and we stumbled upon this place, thank God we did. The plan was to stop for the night but we loved the A-Lodge so much that we ended up staying an extra night on our road trip around the whole state of Colorado. I am from California and I have yet to set a place this cool. The workers were amazing so friendly, courteous, and professional at the same time giving off such positive vibes just made us feel at home. Next time I am in Boulder Colorado there is no doubt about it that I will be staying here. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here but do be careful if you come at night time you might be a little freaked out because it's in the middle of the mountains which is awesome but really there's nothing to be worried about because it's place is just simply amazing. Boulder A-Lodge was a fantastic place for us to stay while we drove around Colorado in our rental campervan. We parked the campervan in one of the A-Lodge's two car camping spaces (in the unpaved front parking lot, right next to Fourmile Creek) and then had full access to guest amenities, which felt super luxurious compared to what we're used to while car camping. We had access to clean bathrooms and a shower, the gorgeous lodge and bar, complimentary breakfast, fire pit and corn hole set... even guest laundry if we'd felt ambitious enough, which we didn't. Asa, one of the A-Lodge's co-owners, was hospitality personified--friendly, full of tips and suggestions, curious about our experience with our campervan, genuinely open to ideas about how to make the A-Lodge even better than it already is. Our toddler especially loved the slackline park and Asa's friendly dog, Tufa. Loved our two-night car camping stay and hope to be back. read more

The Boulder Adventure Lodge exceeded our expectations! We were moving back to our home in SoBo from SoCal and decided to enjoy a mini-vacation "in our backyard". It didn't surprise us that the staff was so helpful and welcoming. We believe people who gravitate to Colorado love lifestyle from their door and the A-Lodge rated an A+ for our 3-sons and puppy Nellie. There is something for everyone between the pool, hot tub, creek, hiking and biking trails and overall friendly vibe. The location is perfect for visitors to experience Boulder and feel close to nature. It was a fantastic to enjoy breakfast there and be able to cook in our room; a saloon and beautiful patio puts it over the top on fulfilling all of our needs. After being there we've recommended it to locals for family reunions, corporate events and special occasions. They even said they do movies and local events, so it's a must see and do in our utopic Boulder bubble. read more

Booked 4 nights here and only stayed a few hours... The floors are disgusting and the room smelled. Found old macaroni noodles on floor near kitchen area, was also told while booking that our room would have a stove- we had our 1 year old with us and needed a stove for meals, instead was told there was no stove and was given a hot plate. I understand about them not having A/C but my issue is that it's not stated ANYWHERE on their website. Had we known this we would have saved ourselves the trouble and booked somewhere else. We were issued a full refund upon finding a human tooth near a nightstand, luckily I found it before my baby did... This place needs a ton of work and some employees who understand common hygiene and cleanliness standards. read more

Stayed here over the 4th of July holiday and had such a great time. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, and also had plenty of necessities. The two hot tubs on site made a nice addition to our stay as well! There are plenty of trails nearby, as well as a creek to walk alongside. We loved the tree hammocks they have put together, and there were more than enough BBQs to go around. We cannot wait to come back! read more

It also has dorm beds as it functions as a hostel as well. They accept dogs too. read more
