On 11/03/2025, an (untrained?) employee at Dr. Ramirez-Berlioz's practice tried checking me, with great effort. In the process she asked me 3-4 times for my name... then the same for my birthdate... then for my appointment time... then continued fumbling around while squinting at her monitor, apparently trying to figure out how to use the program. By the time she had figured things out, I was ONE MINUTE past my appointment window... a lateness which she had caused... so she told me that I had to go to another counter. "Don't worry," she said, "They just have to tell the doctor." So I went to where she directed me to go and spoke to a pleasant woman who left me several times to talk to someone (Dr. Berlioz?). Ultimately, she told me that I would have to reschedule, even though I had arrived on time and it was Berlioz's staff who had caused the check-in tardiness. I asked to speak to the Office Manager, to explain the situation... confident that the person would acknowledge their obvious error and get me in to see Dr. Berlioz (mostly to get an expired prescription renewed). A stern woman named Maria (?) came out and immediately made it clear that I would have to reschedule... not caring that THEY had caused the situation.., and to come to this appointment I had gone to two bloods draws, missed work and driven from Louisville... as well as how my prescription would not be renewed/refilled without this visit. My logic/predicament fell on uncaring, deaf ears. I am just so, so disappointed in Dr. Ramirez-Berlioz and her staff. Not only did they refuse to see me (despite their error), but they have yet to contact me afterwards (as promised by the Office Manager). Further, they had the nerve to charge me $75 for this... and my prescription has now lapsed. What a blatant violation of the Hippocratic Oath! This is a systemic problem within Boulder Medical Center. Poor treatment of patients and poor communication. I have filed complaints against Dr. Berlioz with the Colorado Medical Board, and against the facility with CDPHE. read more

I love the doctors and nurses at Boulder Medical Center - I transferred to BMC after years of cycling through what can perhaps best be described as an assembly line practice in the basic insurance that CU provides to employees (to be fair, some caregivers in this assembly-line, like Dr. Lewis and some of the midwives, are wonderful and caring). It's so nurturing and calming and healing to see the same doctor over the course of time rather than bouncing around, rarely receiving caring guidance - it's been such a long time since I've had such good medical care as what my children and I have experienced at BMC. The only reason that I didn't list five stars is that the receptionist ("Hail") for the eye doctor is consistently condescending and he/they treat patients like an annoyance and a terrible inconvenience - I nearly looked elsewhere for an eye exam, just to avoid this employee. This said, I can't stress enough how wonderful the nurses and doctors are. read more

A few years ago, I saw Dr. Blanton at Boulder Medical Gastroenterology and had a great experience. Since I'm considered high-risk, I marked my calendar to return this past July for my three-year follow-up. Because I hadn't heard from them, I called to schedule--only to find that no one answers the phone in scheduling. I repeatedly called, left messages, and kept missing the return calls. This went on for months until September, when I finally reached someone. I learned that Dr. Blanton had left the practice, so I scheduled with Dr. Emily Ward instead. I provided my insurance information (unchanged since my last visit) and the name of my referring provider, and the scheduler confirmed everything was in-network. About a month later, I received a voicemail stating they had no record of my insurance. When I called back, I was told they did have my information and that someone would reach out the first week of December regarding my December 17 appointment. By December 10, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called again to ask about prep instructions. I later received a message saying they needed my PCP's information (which I had already provided) and that I needed lab work--something I've never needed before. With my procedure only four business days away and prep needed in three days, I have no time to arrange labs. I called this morning to talk with someone, but once again, no one answered. I left a voice msg canceling my appointment and will be finding another practice--one with better communication and competence. The customer service has drastically declined since my last visit. Adding to my concerns was my husband's experience at this facility. After completing the prep, we were literally getting into the car for his colonoscopy when they called to CANCEL because their equipment wasn't working! Anyone who's gone through a colonoscopy prep knows how unpleasant that is. They rescheduled him, but he needed a new $75 prep prescription. He refused to pay for it since they canceled, and after some back-and-forth, they agreed to provide it--but he had to drive to Boulder to pick it up, costing him an hour of missed work. Three years ago, I would have highly recommended Dr. Blanton. I don't know what's changed, but I will not be returning to this facility. read more

I did not have a good experience with this provider. I felt consistently unheard during appointments, and any attempt to discuss newer treatment options or ideas was immediately shut down without discussion. The approach felt outdated and inflexible. If you are looking for a provider who listens and is open to collaborative, up-to-date care, I would not recommend this doctor. read more

I first want to preface this review by the fact I do not intend this to be negative, I am simply stating facts to prevent others from having the experience I had. I saw Dr. Jennifer Blattner a year and a half ago with the Obstetrics and Gynecology at Boulder Medical Center--the experience I had and the lasting implications have haunted me since. I saw her to have my Nexplanon removed and a new one inserted. Not only did she deny to answer the questions my roommates (who were there to support me during the procedure) asked about birth control, the scar she gave me from the procedure was described by my current ob/gyn as "atrocious". I was unaware at the time I saw Dr. Blattner that the sutures she put in were unnecessary and would leave a significant scar For reference, the scar on the right is from Dr. Blattner. The scar on the left is from my current provider removing the Nexplanon. I am continuously self-conscious about the scar Dr. Blattner left on me, and frustrated knowing this was unnecessary, and caused from a lack of care and unwillingness to provide basic compassion. I am not writing this to be negative. I am still deeply bothered by the lack of care for the scar that is going to be left on my body the rest of my life. Impossible scheduling with a specialist. Takes weeks to get through to a live person that can actually help. No return voicemails in a timely manner. It's bad enough to have to wait weeks or months to get into see a specialist (or a doctor), but even worse to have to wait for weeks just to speak with someone who has the power to schedule the appointment in the first place. Call backs in a timely manner from BMC have consistently been disappointing over the many years I have been with them. The general operators don't seem to be able to do anything to help other than patch you through to more of the same. read more

Absolutely everything WRONG with our healthcare system is exemplified right here! All they care about is paperwork and billing but when I showed up to the pediatricians office which we've been an ESTABLISHED patient of, and my 5 year old son was screaming in pain from a sudden ear infection, the 3 paper pushing women at the front desk literally turned us away. Didn't give a shit. Just said "oh we're booked all day. Go to the urgent care"! That would have been hours and hours of my kid crying in pain. I used to get ear infections. I remember how unbearably painful they were. We literally needed one of the 10 doctors to just look in his f-ing ear and write a prescription for amoxicillin. How basic is that!!? Instead I had to drive home (another 45 minutes of my child screaming in pain) give him all the OTC meds I had and then literally call my out of state friend who's husband is a doctor and he had to call in the prescription for me. And I have too tier medical insurance! So angry there are no words. So much for this medical industrial complex and Boulder medical center is exactly that. A large corporate machine that wants to bill for easy "pre planned" visits but the cogs that guard the lobby desks clearly don't care about actual patients. Even crying children! Just monsters. They should all have their licenses taken away. If you don't have the urge to help a screaming child in pain then you shouldn't be in pediatrics!!! read more

My needs are simple. I want a personable doctor and I found one I really liked. I want my phone calls answered in a timely manner - never happened. When I have a procedure done I want to be notified about the results -never happened. I want a patient portal that says something - mine says nothing. I want a doctors office that is uncrowded - mine is always crowded with people standing in the halls. If Boulder Medical Center can't provide these good business practices I'll find a place that can - and I did. read more

I have had several doctors in this hospital, half were pleasant, and half were quite scary. Dr.Erben is one of the most caring doctors I've ever met in my life Dr.Lerner is so intelligent and really takes the time to read my medical history and following up. I don't give Leslie Grady a good rating. She is very fake and does the bare minimum. She was often trying to not let me get tests I needed. Sure enough I was positive on all the tests that she was trying to talk me out of taking. Heather Hoffmeyer was extremely condescending and definitely comes off as the type who likes to cut corners as much as possible. She doesn't provide alternatives or make the patient feel like part of the process at all. She has a snobby attitude and often laughs at you when you ask questions. She often answers questions in a very roundabout way. Overall she is just a very cold person who does not make me feel comfortable at all. read more

Literally, my short stay was one of the WORST experiences of my life. Surgery was preformed early one day; then I waited, and waited, and waited for word as to the outcome. I repeatedly asked my nurse to find out something to no avail. Early evening, I realized that I had not been given even one of my prescriptions provided pre-admission. I had reached my limit: waiting ALL day to find out the results of he surgery, getting none of my medications, I again summoned my nurse who came in yelling that she had sent the surgeon 4 messages and I was being unreasonable. My response was for her to use another approach to getting the info, but she was very angry at me.she ASSURED me that the doctor would see THAT EVENING; he never showed up. After her shift was over, she gathered her belongings to go home (Tupperware, cups, etc) in a large bag. She walked past my door, bag in hand, turned around, barged into my room, and literally told me that I am a "terrible, awful" person who probably acts this way on the "outside", whatever that means. My protocol called for a 4 day recuperative stay, but I was getting no or even substandard care so I left "against medical advice". Even though I had "major surgery" they refused to give me a prescription for any pain relief even though removal of a kidney is known to be VERY painful. read more

I have been a patient at the Boulder Medical Center upwards of 40 years. I am disappointed with the new procedure for scheduling an appointment with a physician. Depending on the receptionist, you have to answer a plethora of questions about why you need to see the doctor. Today, I called to schedule an appointment, and Sidney, the receptionist asked me seven questions about why I wanted to see the doctor. Finally, I interrupted and asked if there was a problem? Needless to say, I was not able to schedule an appointment, apparently, the receptionists are qualified such that they decide whether or not one can see a physician. I don't know of any other medical facility where the receptionist decides whether or not you can see a doctor. BMC and Foothills are going downhill. read more

(4/11/18) --------------------------- (4/6/18) I'm so frustrated with the response I'm getting at Boulder Medical Center! I've been requesting a copy of my lab results for over a week! First they said go into the portal. Then they said if it's not on the portal, I have to request the record from the NextGen portal. So I requested it. 72 hours go by, I sign on to the portal after I get an email that the 'request has been fulfilled' and there is no record there. There are records from 2012, but not 3 weeks ago! I call back. I get one person who sounds as though she's falling asleep and says, "can i put you on hold?" And then they transfer me to someone named, Tamra who picks up the phone and starts giving me the results of my record. I knew the results of my record, I just needed a copy for my other doctor! It's clear there wasn't a handoff between people. She says now I have to call medical records and they won't be able to email it to me and now I have to wait for it in the mail. So I called the medical records office and get a voicemail. They are now asking me to sign something in order to get my records even though I'm signed in on the portal. My other doctor's office needs this record to treat me and I have been waiting over a week to get it. Recommendation: please de-silo your departments and allow anyone to release my medical information to me on the portal. Isn't that the point of a patient portal? I work in healthcare and I now want to switch doctors to someone like Kaiser who has everything on their portal. read more

Dr Heather Bright-Hoffmeyer is only wonderful if you go in and then leave and never have any medical conditions. When my mammogram came back abnormal, she didn't even bother to contact me. I found out from the radiology department. She also does nothing about her incompetent nurses. One doesn't return phone calls to other medical professionals and the other will lie to cover up mistakes & when confronted, tells you to go to another doctor if you don't like it. read more

Dr. Bright Hoffmeyer! I can't say enough good things about Dr. Bright Hoffmeyer as a physician and surgeon! She removed a cyst the size of a large orange. I was apprehensive as I had the same surgery 30 years ago - back then it was 5 days in the hospital with lots of pain, drugs and nausea plus a 4 week recovery and an awful scar. The surgery today was 1/2 day, very little pain and nausea, minimal scarring and a very quick recovery with very little down time! Dr. Bright Hoffmeyer explained and answered my questions clearly before the surgery, checked closely after my surgery, and followed up timely during my recovery. She is the BEST! And, my preference is to see her in Longmont office - much easier than Boulder! read more

Do NOT go here. This is the most disorganized clinic I've ever been to. Boulder Medical Center and Boulder Community Health do their best to confuse you thoroughly. I had an annual exam here and the results came back abnormal so I was advised to made another appointment in two weeks to have a more extensive exam and biopsy done. They said the "c" word (cancer) so I was very alarmed and stressed about the exam and biopsy for two weeks to the point of tears daily. I was in crisis and so was my family and my partner. I finally got to my appointment (30 minutes away in Longmont!!) and they sent me home saying the doctor told them I didn't need the test and was too young to even get it done. This means the doctor never reviewed my records or test results until 30 minutes before the appointment. All that stress for no answers. The receptionist told me to go home and "celebrate" that I don't need the test. Celebrate? Please. I'm more concerned now than I was before. I am getting a second opinion from a doctor out of state who I TRUST. Zero out of ten stars... Would NOT recommend. read more
