I sought out an oral surgeon that could pull a permanent tooth per my Invisalign plan. Both Dr. Lin and Gramins are the best! Dr. Gramins did my wisdom teeth, found out I had 6!! Rough recovery, but they took amazing care of me. I have since had to get 2 dental implants (with bone graft) and had Dr. Lin for those. Jennifer and Dr. Lin were so caring making sure I wasn't in pain, and talked me through everything they were doing. They've been very good at making sure I am dealing with the best recovery and as little pain as possible. Yes, it's semi pricy as this work always is. It is what it is. They do such an amazing job and always make sure I'm being taken care of. Every single person in the office is very nice and accommodating. I have a lot of anxiety and also pain with dental procedures and feel like a problem patient. But they never make me feel like a problem and they're always here to help. Getting dental stuff is never fun, but they make it as painless as possible. When I heard my own general dentist went here for his own implants, I knew it was the place to be. 5 star experience for something that no one wants to have done. Would recommend. read more

The receptionist/ lady at the desk- I wish I remembered her name. She was so kind and offered coffee which was great while I was waiting for my son. Had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Lin who did an incredible job. My issue is with how this office treated my situation after my procedure was done. I was unable to get my medication for recovery until a day later because for some reason my pharmacy never got the orders from Boulder OMS to prescribe my medication. It took me calling Boulder OMS THREE TIMES just to get this handled, and even then my pharmacy had to get in touch with them themselves in order for the prescription to go through. Before the pharmacy got in touch with them they kept saying that it was sent through and blamed the pharmacy for the discrepancy. I've never once had any sort of issue through Kaiser's pharmacy system so its a little questionable on Boulder OMS' part. I should not have to call up multiple times with a bloody mouth full of gauze just to get the care I need. My second issue is with how they treated me in regards to my claim. Because they claimed they are out of network with my insurance I had to pay everything up front and they would submit it to my insurance for reimbursement after. Well that happened and it came back that my insurance actually had them as an in-network provider which applied a discount to the claim which Boulder OMS would need to refund if they are in network. I email them back this information and their initial response is to just forward me the documents I signed like I'm some moron who doesn't know what he signed up for and saying they do not honor these discounts because of their claim of being out of network. This has nothing to do with that. I had no influence to change that network status through my insurance and it took me sending several pressing emails to Boulder OMS to take action on their end and contact the insurance to get this adjusted, which is still up in the air. All I needed from the start is a little understanding and proactiveness regarding this issue instead of Natalie just forwarding me documents. Madeline, if you're reading this, and I know you are: do better. Your company needs to stop deflecting as it's first response to client issues because it really feels that once you have my money, you couldn't care less about what happens after the fact. The fact that your company immediately goes to blaming 2 different providers, one for my medication and the other for my coverage, is a red flag on your part. I will never utilize this company's services again. It's a shame because this place came highly recommended by my dentist. Edit in response to Lexi: I have yet to hear back from Madeline after my last response to our email correspondence, after which she says that she has "exhausted her efforts" in order to get this settled. You people have a network issue with Concordia and BCBS that you need to figure out and it's not my place to figure it out for you. I will contact Concordia and if they find that you are in fact in network and need to honor the claim then I will take you to court if you do not refund my money. read more

I was referred to Dr Lin for a dental extraction and went to his office in La Jolla which is steps from my home to set up an appointment. I was told that they did not take my insurance at this location and that I would need to travel to a location 20 miles away to see him and get the procedure covered. I asked the cost of the procedure so I could decide whether to pay out of pocket or travel and was told they could not disclose that until I had seen Dr Lin and paid for an evaluation. I traveled the 20 miles to the appointment and when I reached the office, I was told that Dr Lin was called away by one of his children and that the appointment was cancelled. It was incredibly rude and unprofessional to make me travel 40 miles round trip for nothing. I am an MD myself and never would have done this to a patient. It seemed very convenient for him as I had the last appointment on a Friday afternoon in July (and was on time). The office staff said they tried to call me but apparently had transposed the numbers in my phone number. I saw Dr Joseph Zeidan for my extraction. He and his office staff were excellent. I would highly recommend Dr Zeidan. read more

Worst nightmare experience -- they refused to refund even though there is a credit, and used 'Harassment' accusation trying to block our communication with them. We chose Boulder to remove wisdom teeth for our kids because they are IN-NETWORK for both our primary and secondary insurance. It took them quite long to submit/re-submit the claims, they blamed the insurance, even though we never experienced this many issues with other dental offices filing to the same insurances. When the claims were finally processed by our secondary insurance, Boulder refused to refund us based on the final EOB, they insisted on their way of calculation and withheld a couple hundred dollars more than they should for each of the claim. They also refused to work with us, we had to appeal with our insurance company, this has been pending since last September, very daunting and frustrating. Again, in Jan of 2024, our primary insurance re-processed a claim since Boulder removed one of the charges which left more funds available, insurance sent an additional $114 to them, since we already paid out-of-pocket, there is now a $114 credit even based on their way of calculation, we emailed them on 3/13, no response, followed up with another email on 3/21, still no response, we then left a message on 3/25, finally received an outrageous email on 3/26 from their Chief operation manager: "The account has been reconciled and no additional payments have been or will be processed on the account. Since any additional payments received would be considered an overpayment. Therefore, no further actions will be taken on this account, the account reflects a zero balance as of November 2023. All time and efforts have been exhausted towards the account. If you would like to receive further reimbursement for these services from your dental insurance policies, you will need to do so with them directly. Please cease with your continued inquires and demands for reimbursement, failure to do so will be considered harassment". They pocketed all the overpayments and refused to refund us since "All time and efforts have been exhausted on the account", they also used "harassment" accusation as a shield trying to block our reasonable inquiry/request. Any decent dental office would refund customers without one even needing to ask. however, we waited more than 2 months before checking with them, all emails and phone message are in polite manner, how ridiculous she considers this type of inquiry as 'harassments' ESPECIALLY when they owe us money. We feel being threatened to say the least! With our out-of-pocket payments and payments from primary and secondary insurance, Boulder got paid way more than their contracted amount with our secondary insurance. They refused to credit us or return the overpayment to the insurance company, and simply pocketed these "overpayments" by claiming the account 'reflects a zero balance'. They intentionally double/over charged their customer, this is insurance fraud! We will further escalate the case and take legal actions. read more

Saw Dr. Linn and Jennifer for extraction and implant procedure. Was definitely nervous. But they were so personable they put me at ease. Dr. Linn was meticulous about explaining each and every step, gently reminded me to breathe so I could relax. Procedure was over relatively quickly since Dr Linn was so efficient. Before I left they gave me post procedure instructions, allowed me to go over them again with questions to make sure I understood, then called a few hours after the procedure to be sure I was ok. What sucks is that I really did like Dr. Lin. He performed oral surgery on my son and everything went really well. But before surgery, the "financial coordinator" Jessica, gave me a quote for the procedure... I asked if she had called my insurance specifically to make sure all the procedures were covered under insurance. She said she called and everything was in order. But clearly she was full of it because I received a $400 bill in the mail 2 months later because my insurance denied part of the procedure. So we will not be coming back here again. I have 3 kids and 3 sets of wisdom teeth that will most likely need to be removed... I'll be taking my money elsewhere from now on. read more

Unprofessional office, was here back in April 2021 for a consultation of wisdom teeth extraction. Dr. Gramins was in the office for less than a minute, bragged about how he works on the San Diego Gulls Hockey Team. They're front desk staff isn't the most pleasant either. They try to upsell you on extra medication for the removal overall it's quadruple the cost of other dental offices. I had significant amount of treatment done under IV and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish!! Dr. Lin did a wonderful job and the staff was so kind. I came here almost a week ago to remove all my wisdom teeth. My dentist had recommended Dr. Albert Lin and my brother had his removed here previously. I made my consultation appointment over the phone and was immediately sent an e-mail with all the paperwork I needed to fill before coming in to reduce the wait time. During consultation, Dr. Lin was very thorough and clear about everything and most importantly, exuded confidence in his speaking, as if he's done this a million times before (which I'm sure he has). I was able to see the quick/easy X-rays they took of me, which included an isometric view of the lower half of my skull. Neato! Almost asked if I could have a poster print of it. Extraction day came and I wore my comfiest sweatpants and t-shirt. I was told that they could either give me a prescription for my meds or I could just buy them there. I opted for the latter because that was more convenient. They first put a laughing gas mask on me which made me feel a slight tingling sensation in my fingers. After that, an IV was stuck in my arm and something was put in my mouth to hold it open. The last thing I remember was them stating the time, my name, and other information. It was like on TV when a surgeon states the time of death of a patient (X___X). And then.....I woke up what felt like a split second later.......not even remembering going to "sleep". There was gauze in my mouth and an ice compression around my head (not unlike what Finn from Adventure Time wears. SHMOWZOW!). I was not loopy or in pain. They helped me out to the recovery room where they informed me and my BF information I needed for post op. They gave me a gift card to McDonalds to get a smoothie after the surgery, but to hell if I'm going to use it on a smoothie! I'm saving it for when I'm confident enough to eat french fries :). The most annoying parts of the recovery process were trying to consume liquids while having a numb face and getting tired from biting down on the gauze. But the numbness and bleeding subsided within 4 hours of the surgery. I took the meds as soon as I could as instructed and was surprised at how normal I felt, as if nothing happened. Out of curiosity, I stopped taking the pain meds the same day just to see what it would feel like and it wasn't bad at all. Probably as tolerable as a mild headache. I waited for the suck-age of post-op that everyone warned me about, but it never came. Either Dr. Lin is a miracle worker or I'm freakin' Superwoman! I appreciate that they were transparent about the fees, showing me what I should expect to pay based on my insurance and breaking it down before having to make the decision. I knew how much X-Rays would be before coming in for consultation and I knew how much the extraction would cost before making the appointment. This place is very well organized and the whole staff was professional and friendly. And might I add that the waiting room is very modern looking, stocked with a whole bunch of magazines for your entertainment. If by some miracle, I grow another set of wisdom teeth, for sure I would come back to Dr. Lin. That is how much I recommend him and his amazing staff. read more

Let me preface this by saying the wisdom tooth extraction process was awesome. Everything from the consultation to getting all of my wisdom teeth out was awesome. I'd probably rate it a 5... Until I got my bill. They had told me that I'd have to pay $600 after insurance, and I paid that upfront. Fast forward a month later, I received a bill for $800 more. Whoever had given me the estimate gave me the estimate based off of my maximum, rather than how much I had left in my maximum. I am a full time teacher and I had to get my operation done and didn't have time to check to see if the estimate was correct with my insurance. I mean I trusted that they would do their jobs correctly. So just beware, the operation will go smoothly, but if you decide to get anything done here... double check with your insurance because they might get it wrong and you'll end up paying more. read more

I went in to have teeth removed and four post put in for implants. Surgery was great. One post was supposedly defective as it broke out of my jaw after a month. It was repaired, of course no charge. I called to get a printout of my dental costs. No reply. Email and calls. Evidently they can't be bothered after payment us made. I would expect a higher level of service considering I paid in full after each visit. I will certainly reconsider using this office in the future. They seem to have a serious issue with their accounting and billing. read more

Amazing visit yesterday! When I first arrived I sat down, filled out the paperwork (which didn't take long at all) a sweet employee handed me a water and the lobby was so clean and had a very warm feeling to it (unlike some cold offices). Hubs had a tooth break off at the gums in the middle of Thursday night so I started calling as soon as anywhere opened to find someone that could remove it before the weekend and before we went on vacation Monday. No one was able to set anything up until these guys. They offered to squeeze him in at 9am on a Friday morning, making it where neither our weekend nor our vacation were ruined. A couple of hours later, he is not super swollen or in pain. We will definitely be using this Dr. Gramins if we need anything extracted again. read more

Very disappointed in the customer service. My sons wisdom tooth extraction was done fine. They did up sell us on a non covered pain medication, that is ok, we paid it. We were given a quote (out of pocket, separate from insurance) and then paid it at the date of appointment. A few weeks later we got an unexpected additional bill of $330. This was not right, unfair, and misleading. They did not tell us upfront about additional charges. I called to speak with them about this and the manager did not seem to care and told us that we just had to pay it and would not work with us at all. I see from other reviews this is a pattern. Seems weird that a business would loose future referrals and damage their online reputation over such a small amount of miscalculation by their billing. Dr. Lin is awesome! He extracted all four of my wisdom teeth so that my dentist would have room to work when adding a gold on-lay to one of my back molars. I went into Dr. Lin's office terrified. I have this phobia of surgery. Well, actually, I have a phobia that I won't wake up after the surgery, because I'll be dead. So, now you know how scared I was when I went to Dr. Lin. I shouldn't have worried. Dr. Lin has AMAZING surgical technicians that will make you feel at ease while they prepare you for your surgery (I extend a special thanks to Jason). Also, they apparently use something that helps you relax, via IV, before you get your anesthesia. I loved it! When they administered the anesthesia, I began laughing as I looked at my husband. If I had died, I would have at least died laughing! I woke up in what seemed like no time, mouth crammed full of gauze, but in no pain. I mumbled something like, "Whhww. Whut druzz did yew guyth youz? Zhose were UHMEYTHING!" ("Wow. What drugs did you guys use? Those were AMAZING!") I healed quickly and did not experience any problems from the surgery. In fact, I was able to go home and eat semi-solid foods like scrambled eggs that day! Dr. Lin's office is wonderful. They are friendly, professional, and they keep the entire office very clean. Even if you are a surgery wimp like me, you will be just fine with Dr. Lin! read more

Visiting Boulder OMS for my wisdom tooth extraction has been the most horrible dental experience in my entire life and this is coming from someone who was so terrified of oral injections growing up I would forgo novocaine during fillings. The facility is nice, the equipment looks good, but their after-care and pain management regimen are nonexistent. After complaining of pain over the telephone an in person numerous times I was finally told that the dentist liked to use the "natural method" to pain management--no pain pills. It would have been nice to know this beforehand as I would have selected another oral surgeon. I have suffered from a dry socket for the past week and have been given MINIMAL pain medication. They even questioned my honestly--having me count out my pills in front of them--on how many pain pills I was taking; their maximum prescribed dosage. I am so turned off by this experience I cancelled my appointment to have my other wisdom teeth removed and don't plan on visiting any type of dentist for a long time. I have had enough dental pain to last me a lifetime. I am hoping one of these nights I will pass out from exhaustion as I am not able to get any sleep due to the pain. Dr. Gramins is amazing. I have had several botox injections with him and will continue to go to him. I recommend him to all my friends. Let's be real, no one enjoys getting worked on but Dr. Gramins makes it all that much more bearable. He is professional, thorough and tells you exactly what to expect. These people know what they're doing ! All my friends have been here to get their wisdom teeth pulled out and they have been successful. When you first walk in you are instantly charmed by their cute waiting room which eases you in before surgery. The receptionist was very welcoming and so was everyone else in the facility. Luckily I was only getting 4 pre molars taken out due to orthodontic purposes and not my wisdoms just yet. Eli was the one that walked me into the room and made me feel comfortable before the procedure. The chairs were comfy and they even had music playing in each room too. Eli hooked up all the equipment onto me like the laughing gas, wires, etc. I had Dr. Gramins operate on me today and he was excellent ! The only thing that hurt during the whole procedure was him giving me the ivy to make me drowsy and fall asleep. But boy I'm so glad I fell asleep I did not want to feel anything. I woke up and BAM the procedure was over and I woke up in the waiting room. My entire mouth and nose were still numb and continued to be numb for about 8 hours later. Overall excellent service and the procedure ran smoothly ! I'm sure I'm going to back soon to get my wisdom teeth pulled out by next year ! 5/5 and totally recommend to everyone getting any oral surgery done. read more

Awful Awful! So they wonder why I am phobic of the dentist well this one topped that experience I've ever had!! Like other reviews the same thing happened to me my appointment got bumped up in an hour and that's fine because it was a child before me. I woke up while I was supposed to be sedated, and he had his hand in my mouth working on my tooth extraction. He just told me to close my eyes when I heard them all talking about what they were doing for Thanksgiving and he cut my lip on the outside of my mouth. After he got done one of the staff shoved the gauze in my mouth quickly took me off the chair while I was still woozy and shuffled me very quickly to the not recovery room but each are in the hallway of their office while they called my son into come and get me and I was dizzy and woozy. They never followed up with me to see how I am doing and it's just been an awful experience. I would not go back to Doctor Lin ever or to this dentist ever!!!! It's now Monday I had the extraction on Friday and you would think they would call me to see how I am doing when they told me that's what they were going to do? I felt like a dollar sign more than a patient that was cared for in the back office. The only kind people were the people at the front desk. I felt like they truly cared about me as to where the back office where everything happened I did not and on a second round of antibiotics and still in pain. Do not come to this place if you what a good experience read some of the other reviews that were negative because they are true. I am sorry that I had to leave this review but if I would have been even felt like cared for and not shoved out of the surgery room so quickly and had a follow-up call it would have been different. The last time I had my tooth extracted while two of them they were wisdom teeth which were not as bad as this molar oh, was that a dentist down in Mission Valley and I never woke up during sedation and they were the kindest people in the front office as well as the back office and the dentist was amazing but not at this place please do not come here unless you want a bad experience and you enjoy waking up in the middle of sedation read more

I had two impacted wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Gramins based on a referral from my normal dentist. Everyone I worked with was friendly, professional, and efficient. The extraction itself was done in less than half an hour. I'm not sure if it's Dr. Gramins skills or what, but I never needed any of the Vicodin prescribed. Based on some stories I've heard of other people's wisdom teeth extractions, it was a walk in the park. I could have probably gone back to work that day, but I might as well use some of my sick time. So I pre-payed my estimated portion the insurance wouldn't pay to get a discount. The amount that the insurance ended up paying was more than expected, and Boulder sent me a check for the difference without being prompted. That just shows how great their service is. I went to see Dr. Gramins and Lin to get my impacted wisdom teeth removed this past year.... Going in, I had never had any kind of surgery and had heard horror stories about complications removing impacted wisdom teeth, so was a bit nervous to say the least. After meeting their staff and discussing the procedure with Dr. Lin, I was much more at ease. Both Dr's are very personable and do a great job at explaining things in terms I can understand. For the actual surgery, everything went off without a hitch. I was in, out and back at work the next day with 0 issues. He had it out in under 4 minutes (sorry, Dr. Gramins - I timed it!). Recovery is always fast and the pain is doable with only ibuprofen. Their aftercare instructions are very user friendly. Dr. Gramins called me 3 days post-extraction (Dr. Gramins himself, NOT the office). Then, Christy called me the following day. Just an exceptional experience all around. Hopefully, I won't have to go back again, but I inherited my mother's awful teeth so it's likely I'll see him again in the future. The drive is more than worth it! read more
