I would never recommend. I took a pair of boots in a couple months ago and the service was horrible. When I retrieved my boots, one of the shoe laces had been cut and was tied back together... Not only that, but there were other parts of the shoe lace which looked purposely worn down. The leather and an eyelet had been cut into as well; I suspect there was a slip of a tool which cut the shoelace and the shoe leather. The other shoe was fine. I told the man who was there, whom I assume to be the owner, that the shoelaces were never broken and were not worn out when I brought them in. I tried to use logic and compare the worn shoelace to the unworn shoelace on the other boot. He argued with me, claiming that I must have taken them hiking and broke the shoe lace. When I told him that I do not take these boots hiking, he then told me I must have tripped off of a sidewalk to ruin the laces. He then tried to sell me laces from the store. When I wore the shoes, I noticed the insides to be warped. After a week of wearing the "repaired" shoes, the heels started to come apart again. I understand mistakes happen, but this was a poorly done job and I was lied to. Please save your loved shoes by going elsewhere. read more

I brought 2 pairs of nice boots in, 1 for suede stains and 1 for a basic cleaning. They told me it would cost $35 for them to "try" to remove my suede stains. I turned that down and asked them to just complete the basic cleaning for the other pair of boots which cost me $10. They said it would be ready in a week and they would call when it's ready. A week and a half later I still hadn't heard anything so I called to inquire and I got a rude response for not having my ticket on hand for the store owner to retrieve the boots. Overall, I was unimpressed with the customer service and communication on their behalf. I couldn't believe the attitude I was getting for THEIR mistake of not calling me in the first place. The shoes were cleaned fine (not great) but I will not be taking any of my items back there, nor do I recommend anyone else to do so. read more

I had to wait a month just to have the back of my heel restitched. That turned out fine, but I also needed the inside padding replaced on the back of my boots, so it does not rip holes in my socks and give me blisters when I walk. He charged me quite a bit, and did a terrible job, with cheap material that disintegrated less than a month after I go them back. Any idiot should have known that you would have to use more durable material to line the back of a boot. read more

One of The worst experiences I have had with any business in Boulder. It took them six months to repair a zipper on a bag that I left them, and they did a lousy job. They also tried to double charge me. They were all around the epitome of a poorly run business. I couldn't recommend more sincerely that you never go here read more

Professional business, very courteous, and explained a lot of options for me. He fixed my Sanitas shoes right there while I stood waiting. And only charged me $10. My shoes look like new! I am going to take my Danskos there now. I've gone months without my favorite shoes because I didn't want to go all the way to Louisville. This pace was great! read more

Such high hopes but after my experience I will never return. Took in an item for a custom leather working job and after speaking about it with the owner I was assured that while this was not part of his normal repertoire he was up to the task. Paid a pretty penny but figured he is a craftsman who knows his stuff. While this may be the case, the quality of the finished product is as much a reflection of care as it is of skill, and he showed little if any of the former. When I picked up the item for the first time I was very disappointed: he had created something different than what we had agreed upon and the craftsmanship was sloppy: cuts in the leather were not straight, edges folded over after gluing were not clean, and it just looked like something I could have made myself. I took the item to another leather worker in town who expressed dismay at the quality as well as the high price. Feeling ripped off I decided to take the item back to Boulder Shoe and Sew and ask for it to be set right. The owner was willing to try again. He kept the item for almost a month and never called me with updates or a projected completion date...when I finally went to check on progress I found that the item was finished? And the second time around was even worse than the first.! It almost seemed like he had purposely accentuated the problems I had with the original product and then made me wait weeks for this second disappointment. The cuts were so crooked I could scarcely believe that he could give this item to a customer and not feel embarrassed. I honestly think it must've taken about 15 minutes for him to do the work...for which I paid roughly $100. Seriously, I have little training in leather work but sufficient basic experience and attention to detail to just make this thing myself...which is what I'm going to do now. Wish I hadn't wasted my time and money on this venture. Definitely wont be returning for any future business. read more

I went to this business because I heard that they do a great job with outdoor equipment/shoes sewing repairs. I made the mistake of bringing a very large sheepskin pillow which needed the zipper replaced. Instead of a single white matching zipper, which is what was there originally, they replaced it with 2 black zippers meeting off center. It looks horrible and when I said something to the owner, he copped attitude with me. Last time he will get my business. Do NOT bring any household items for repair there, obviously they just put in whatever was laying around and did not give a hoot about how it looked. read more

Oye. I wanted to love this mom and pop place cause of that and it's right by my house. However the service here is slow and it's apparent that they simply don't have enough help to carry the workload. My shoes were there for almost a month and STILL not ready 30 days later. This is the deal. Life happens. There's the holidays. There are sudden deaths (which is apparently why my shoes weren't ready) however after being in the service industry for years you CALL the customers saying it'll take longer then expected and is that OK? Not only do I now not have the shoes I wanted for New Years. I waited a whole month. The response when I said "well I'll just grab them then since they're still not ready" ... A rude "yeah that would be great" from the owner. Again life happens but you still have a business and treating your customers as such is never great in a small town. And boulder is small. A big two thumbs down to this place. Hopefully the owner takes this review seriously for when you have a customer who has every right to be frustrated you don't answer the way this man did. I suggest extreme repair on Arapahoe. They're professional, fast, and a lot better overall. I'll now be returning my business to them. read more
