One of Our All-Time Favorites! Boulevard is one of my husband and my all-time favorite restaurants, and they consistently deliver every time we visit. We frequent both the Elmwood and Metairie locations, but the Elmwood location is our go-to since it's closest to home. On this visit, I started with the Boulevard Oysters--crispy fried oysters served over creamy spinach with an aioli sauce. They were delicious! I also had the chicken tortilla soup, and I absolutely freaking LOVE this soup! It's one of my favorites on the menu. For my entrée, I had the blackened fish with coleslaw, and of course, I had my usual lemon drop martini. That lemon drop is the BOMB! I order it every time, and it never disappoints. What I love most about Boulevard is the consistency. The food comes out quickly, the cocktails are always good, and the staff is always attentive--even when sitting at the bar, which is one of my favorite places to sit here. The restaurant is always clean, the bathrooms are clean, and you're greeted when you walk through the door. We've been here many times, and Boulevard hardly ever disappoints. Five stars, without a doubt! There's something for everyone on the menu, and honestly, you really can't go wrong with whatever you order. Decided to have lunch here , figured enough time had passes since my last not so great experience here. Also, since the Boulevard in Covington was SO GREAT, that this one should be on par with that one. I was wrong. We ordered 2 club sandwiches, one no cheese and one no tomatoes. They were wrong. The fries were cold, and the service was slow. Bu the time replacement fries arrived, we were done eating. Btw, They were not crowded. Once the sandwiches were corrected, we still regretted the orders. They were not good. No idea how 2 locations of the same restaurant can be so different. This location to my understanding has been around much longer than the Covington location, so you'd think they would have it together. But, they do not. We were offered a desert for our inconvenience, and we chose a slice of cheesecake. When it was packaged and presented, it looked as if it had been beat up. No idea why this would be given to a customer in this condition. Not a good look at all. This location is a no go for us from now on. We've tried it 2 or 3 times, and it is never on a good level food wise. Not sure if they have gotten complacent or just don't really care about the taste of the food they serve, but whatever it is needs to be corrected. It's honestly not worth the drive. My husband and I went to the Boulevard at Elmwood last night for wine Wednesday. Unfortunately, there were no wine glasses. How do you expect to have wine Wednesday when you don't even have enough glasses. They had to use brandy glasses. The person responsible for providing the stemware should do their job. We've gone to the other Boulevard on veterans and they seem to have plenty of glasses. We have gone to wine dinners there and they don't seem to have a problem. You have a wonderful bar staff at Elmwood, but I feel bad for them having to explain why they don't have wine glasses. My husband went and bought two wine glasses, so that we could drink our nice bottle of wine. read more

Merchant started charging an Admin Fee of 3%+ couple of days ago on Cash Debit and Credit. The customer isn't aware of the fee until they receive their bill. It's not posted on the menu or anywhere else in the restaurant. The bartender and manager could not explain the reason for the fee. 4 other groups at the bar also complained and 2 said they will take their business elsewhere. They should have just increased their prices by 3%. read more

We went here for lunch yesterday and I was so excited because I love the spinach dip & crab cakes. We ordered the spinach dip which comes with chips, salsa and sour cream which is very good. But the waitress that brought it out to us put it down and some of the chips slid off of our plate and she hurried up and picked the chips up with her hands and put them back on our plate. My husband and I were shocked. They do whip off the tables but with the same towel for every table. We saw a small bucket with the towel in it and watched them. So they don't spray the tables down after each use just whips it off with the same towel. Our food was very good. I gave it a 2 star because of what happened. read more

I was told by several uber drivers to try this place out as it has happy hour daily. I went with a large group. The appetizers were delicious. I ordered the salmon burger for my entree. It tasted funny but I thought it was their special sauce. Later I found out it wasn't just the sauce as I was so sick the whole night. read more

Every now and then, my GF and I want to do something a little nicer than "whatever", but we still want to keep it easy and casual when we want food and drinks. So we go to The Boulevard in Elmwood and sit at the bar. Let me make the point that we've never eaten in the dining room. Sometimes, we want to sit at a nice bar and eat our dinner. We interact with the staff, asking questions about the different bottles they have behind their very well stocked bar, and just relaxing. We've been to the Boulevard at least 4 or 6 times now, and it's a really nice experience each time. The bartenders are always friendly and attentive, the cocktails are always great, and we always love their food. Specifically - they make a great Old Fashioned (for me) and a great dirty martini (for her). They have a decent beer selection, but we come here for the cocktails (and food). We've tried a variety of their food, and it's all been good. They have a great oyster appetizer, and their crab cakes and their burgers stand out in my memory. I will say that every time I've gotten a burger, I've had to wave the bartender down to get condiments. Shouldn't have to, but I'm not taking away a star for that. Have not been here in a few years but decided to meet some friends here for happy hour. The place still looks nice and clean. Our server was very friendly and patient while we ordered. I had a delicious lemon drop martini which is mostly my go to drink and it did not disappoint. Was delicious and happy hour price . I was in heaven. But since it still was a week night I just had one . We had the boulevard oysters which were perfectly cooked, and the spinach dip. Both delicious. I had the salmon burger I thought it would've been fried in a batter but it wasn't. It was just okay on the bun. But the next day with my leftover salmon I made it into a ceaser salad wrap and it was delicious. You May have to add a salmon ceaser wrap to your menu. My friend had the crab cake and said it was delicious. Overall the others liked what they ordered. I'm sure we will be returning for happy hour. read more

My mama lives in Harahan and we like to come here when we are in town. The food has always been very good. I'm particularly fond of the shrimp remoulade salad. My daughter loves the burgers. We've had Mario as a server twice now and he's been wonderful both times. He's very friendly, efficient, and quite good at anticipating the needs of his patrons (& he is pretty awesome about remembering correctly everyone's order without writing it down). Everything about Boulevard American Bistro reminds me of Houston's except the food isn't quite a good for many dishes. The service also isn't quite as good as Houston's. The ambiance is nearly exactly the same as Houston's as is the menu. They did serve my dessert very differently than I have ever gotten it served to me even though it was the exact same dish I've eaten at Houston's MANY times. I do have to say that overall I still find the food better at Houston's than I found the nearly exact same dishes prepared by Boulevard American Bistro. If they are going to copy Houston's I wish they could at least get it equally as good as Houston's. Overall I really think they could do a lot better since they just seem to be copying things Houston's has long done well read more

We sat at the bar on Father's Day and had horrible service. I had the wood grilled redfish. It was the driest fish I've ever had. It barely had any lump crab meat and sauce especially when you pay $38 for the dish. I will definitely not be returning to this restaurant. Management is seriously lacking as well. read more

Love restaurant, but I do not like this location. It's always an issue when ordering Togo. Pre called in order only to show up and my order isn't complete. First, I was missing the salmon on the large house salad, the entire kids chicken strip meal wasn't rung up with the order, the walnut brownie and ice cream was missing and then I requested that my crab cake be on the side for the shrimp and crab cake pasta and they did the complete opposite. The inconsistency when ordering from this location is ridiculous. Not one hostess took accountability for the order being input incorrectly, furthermore the manager was not apologetic. When I asked for a refund I was told that he would have to keep the receipt and send it over in the am to the higher ups in order to process my request. The manager then proceeds to ask the hostess if they got all the food back. The audacity for you to ask that when you all didn't give me all that I ordered in the first place is insane and insulting. There was no sorry, no concern or how can we fix the situation. Zero accountability whatsoever from anyone on that staff. I'll wait 3 days to see if they process my refund and if they haven't I'll be back up there on Friday. read more

I went this past weekend and when the meal was finished, my wonderful server, Alicia, asked us to leave a good review online and to mention her in that review. Now, I normally don't do online reviews ever. But the overall experience was so wonderful that I decided to finally give in and leave a review. The small, yet comfortable vibe of the overall restaurant made it very enjoyable to sit down and eat. I felt welcomed in a sort of way, and I was very glad that we were taken in on account of the fact I honestly wasn't wearing that fancy of clothes because I did not know this was a fancy restaurant. I digress, the food itself was impeccable. I personally ordered the prime rib with a loaded baked potato and it was simply superb. The steak was cooked perfectly, the potato had a fantastic mix of toppings, and the two paired together were delightful. I don't get full often, I normally just become not hungry, but this restaurant changed that for me. I ate, and enjoyed, so much food that I couldn't accept another bite, or so I thought. After we had finished our plates, our lovely server, Alicia, asked if we would a desert. I of course asked our lovely server, Alicia, what these deserts could possibly be. In response, our lovely server, Alicia, described each desert in detail. Alicia didn't just read a list, she knew these dishes by heart. It felt like my server was the chef themself and they knew everything there is to know about the boulevard menu. Her exquisite expertise helped me pick the brownie with ice cream. This was probably the best decision I could have ever made. The warm, fudgy brownie paired with the cold, sweet ice cream almost made me cry because it WAS that good. At the end of the meal, Alicia let us enjoy two cups of coffee while taking our plates away. Boulevard truly was the best culinary experience I have had in a while. 10/10 absolutely recommend to anyone on the street. I am VERY much looking forward to coming back soon. read more

DO NOT recommend. My family came in yesterday with a big party, like 16+ people. Went home that night and at least 10 of us had bad stomach issues the whole night into the next day. Literally unable to leave the bathroom. I've seen another review on here of someone getting sick, it seems to be a BOH problem. Houston's on St Charles has the exact same dishes at a similar price but WAY better quality and imo more attentive service. And I've never gotten sick from their food. We had a birthday celebration on the 1-23-26 for my sister. We had appetizers, drinks and of course delicious food. The sizes were abundant and our server Racheal D. was so attentive even before we told her it was my sisters bd. She then brought out a surprise complimentary dessert! Maybe it was an off day, but this was pretty disappointing. Came for lunch and were greeted semi-promptly after being seated. Our drink order was taken, one cocktail and a soda, and we also ordered the spinach dip ($16). An extended period of time went by before receiving water, and the cocktail took about 10 minutes. We were seated adjacent to the bar area and observed 2 bartenders. A different server came to take our entrée order. We split a Cuban sandwich which is served with coleslaw ($16) and added a side order of fries ($9). Several minutes after the cocktail arrived, the second server asked if we needed ketchup or any horseradish cream for the fries. We said yes please, horseradish cream sounds awesome! A few minutes later, she dropped off a plate with a ramekin of ketchup only. It seemed apparent that somehow between the first and second server, we were not going to be receiving the spinach dip. When I was able to flag down the server, I mentioned the spinach dip and she said she would check on it. As our Cuban arrived, a manager of some sort stopped by our table and apologized. We opted just to remove it from the bill since we had just been served the sandwich. Sandwich was okay, a bit bland, and strangely, mustard was only on part of the sandwich. Our server did not come to check on us so we couldn't ask for a side of mustard. We improvised and used the hot sauce at the table. The check was brought in a reasonable time, and the spinach dip was indeed removed from the bill. TBH it looked like a small portion for the price so perhaps it wasn't all bad that we never received it. Not sure if I would return, but other food coming out of the kitchen looked pretty good, particularly the deviled eggs and loaded baked potatoes. read more

Having never been before, I wasn't sure what to expect--but I walked in skeptical and wined up pleasantly surprised. The bar area struck that perfect balance: cozy and casual, with just enough polish to feel a little elevated, but not so fancy that I felt underdressed in leggings and t-shirt. Speaking of happy, the wine prices certainly set the tone--just $7 for a generous 9-ounce pour from 3 PM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday. I've paid triple that for a sad 5-ounce pour at places with far less ambiance, so this already felt like a win. Now, let's talk service. If there were an award for the friendliest staff, this place would be in the running. Attentive, speedy, and downright delightful--the kind of service that makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first time. On to the food. We went full happy-hour mode, ordering a mix of small bites with the kind of price reductions that make sharing feel like a smart financial decision rather than a negotiation over the last bite. Spinach & Artichoke Dip - Pro tip: Spring for the full-size portion. It's only six bucks more, and you get so much more of that creamy, cheesy goodness. We're dip people, so this was a no-brainer. Fried Oysters - A trio of crispy, well-seasoned oysters perched atop coleslaw. Nothing groundbreaking, but solidly tasty. Ahi Lettuce Wraps - And here's where things went south.
