Ruth's Chris reached out asking for my home address so they could "make it right" after what was easily the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. The operations manager, Rikki, contacted me directly. I told her I wasn't comfortable giving out my address. She then asked for my name, even though she was already addressing me by it in the email, and said she'd make it right the next time I came in. I suggested something simple: I'd just pick up the gift card. I followed up several times trying to arrange a pickup. Nothing. Completely ghosted. One thing I find almost funny is that whenever I tell people what happened, anyone who listens asks the same question: why were you eating there in the first place? Saturday night I was dining in at the bar around 8-8:30 and while I'm sitting the white older male bartender in-front of me was talking to the bartender Jenna and mentioned trump. Mentioned the shooting that happened at the White House and made the derogatory statement , "it's turning into the streets, is it the White House or the 7th ward" . I guess shootings are only a 7 ward or "streets" thing. He also made a statement saying " I miss the good ole days when you didn't like someone you just didn't like them, you don't try to kill them" as if presidents and activists haven't been getting shot at for decades, as if gun violence is a today's problem. It was hot 116 index and he still had a smile on his face as if the air conditioner was on. He was very focused and accommodating to begin the start of an exquisite evening. I come here at least once a month and sit at the bar to "treat myself" (I've been more than once this month). Never in my times of coming here have I felt as neglected and overlooked as I did today. Granted, they were pretty busy AT FIRST, but after that, the negligence continued. The only bartender who was kind and offered me a complimentary Caesar salad (despite him not being responsible for me) was Mark. Hats off to him! We ultimately decided on the tomahawk ribeye to treat ourselves and had them cook it medium rare. It was nice but it wasn't as great as we had hoped it would be. There was a lot of fat that we couldn't eat but it was all well seasoned. The experience was nice but probably not worth getting the tomahawk again for us. A few weeks ago I went and ate at another location, where they informed me that only 30 dollars had been loaded onto the gift card. I went and spoke to the general manager of this location and she said she would get back to me, but now it has been nearly a month and crickets. My calls go unanswered, or she claims she is still "figuring things out". What is there to figure out. She claims this is the bonus card they were giving out at the time, but if that is the case then why is this the only card I received. There are a lot of steak restaurants around, and I have been to most of them. RCSH really sets the standard in excellence. You can really get easy reservations on the first Friday of lent. Less than usual crowd but still most of the tables were full. Parking was easy. They have a valet. Service is prompt, pleasant and knowledgeable. We had the lobster + petite filet, and the New York strip. The strip was delicious, apparently real prime meat. It was head and shoulders above than the other steak place near JS. Salad and side dishes were also delicious. We had one glass of Cabernet, which had a good body and great personality, complimenting the steaks. Ambiance is great with brown butter aroma all around. NOLA Chow down 1 Star... There haven't been many times I've gone to a restaurant expecting one thing and received the polar opposite. This was one of those times. Ruth's Chris Metairie location has fallen so far, it was unrecognizable as a Ruth's Chris. Very inconsistent. We dined as a group of 12 to celebrate Christmas, and because of this, Ruth's tried to make us do a set menu. This was not told to us at the time of reservation. Luckily, we were able to order from the regular menu after inquiring. The crab stuffed mushrooms were AWFUL. The mushrooms were raw, the stuffing was ice cold and the plating was sloppy. The lobster Mac and cheese was cold, the lobster was rubbery and had a slight smell of ammonia. The steaks we received were something you would find at a local chili's. Poor quality, and the cook on a few was incorrect. Another steak was over cooked on one side and rare on the other. I'm not sure how that happens. The crème brule was nothing short of a disaster. Some were cooked, some weren't. The sugar on the top was burnt black and the custard was liquid. The service was less that sub par. While dining we went through 2 separate waitresses. The first just disappeared halfway through service. The second waitress showed up and continued as if nothing happened. It was strange. If there are any positives from this experience, it's the side dishes. Most of them were pretty good and what I've grown to love from Ruth's. But, that's it. When choosing a Ruth's, I STRONGLY suggest driving the extra distance and dining at the Baton Rouge location. It is far superior. The food is amazing and the service is second to none. I attended Ruth Chris on August 16, for a birthday dinner party of 6, our reservations was for 8:30, we was seated about 8:45, and did not get our food til 10pm. I ordered the Ruth Classic and when my food came out I was told that they were out of garlic mashed potatoes and did I want something else. I ordered the sautéed spinach that I never got and was lied to about it. I asked to have it to go since everyone had gotten their food and I was told it was boxed up. I did not know until the bill came that the kitchen had never made my food. And to add insult to injury none of us received our dessert. Last Thursday was my 40th birthday. Celebrated it at Ruth's Chris in metairie by having dinner with my family, 8 of us total. Our server mr Ray was incredible!!!! He made sure we were very well taken care of!! Even the young children with us were happy!! Calvin the chef along with Barbara the manager came out and wished me happy birthday!! I visit Ruth Chris quite often and have never been disappointed. I typically order the stuffed chicken breast. It comes out sizzling and I love it! On my most recent visit, I tried the Petite Filets and Shrimp Oscar Style. I got 2 delicious, perfectly cooked filets each topped with 3 shrimp. The Oscar Style added a crab cake on top and asparagus with bearnaise sauce. My meal was awesome! I even had enough left for another meal. While I'm sure a nice red wine would have been the best pairing option, there's no way I'm going to Ruth Chris without getting a Coconut Ginger Lemon Drop! It's perfect and I've never tasted anything like it. On top of the great food, the service is amazing and the ambience is very relaxing....it's the perfect environment after a long and stressful day. While pricey, I believe the service and quality of the food is worth it. Parking is limited at this location, but they do offer free valet. Also worth noting, Ruth Chris has a series of tasting dinners during the summer/fall months. They're pricey, but you get several courses, each paired with a wine. Definitely a must try! read more

Everytime I eat here, I have two thoughts: 1) Why is the Seattle location so much better than the "original," and 2) Is anybody gonna get food poisoning this time? This time, I had the Seared Ahi Tuna, which was quite good, although I wish the sauce was ON the tuna rather than UNDER it--that way I could get more without impolitely scraping/tipping/wiping the dish. Salad was ON POINT. May have been the highlight of the meal (unfortunately). I had a Filet with Shrimp. Filet was a well-prepared medium rare (that was actually medium rare) with superb texture, but somehow lacking in flavor. The Shrimp were overcooked to the point of starting to get dry and rubbery. Broccoli side was excellent--competing with the salad for star of the meal--but the Potatoes au Gratin were so creamy and insufficiently cheesy that it was like lumpy, overly watery puree, also lacking in flavor. Bread pudding was subpar for ANY restaurant, let alone for what's supposed to be a premiere steakhouse. Also, the water had a weird taste AND odor. Eww. Get a filter! On a positive note, nobody got food poisoning this time, unlike the first time I ate here and half the table (the half that had the lobster bisque) spent the early hours of the morning bent over their toilets. Why do I keep coming back here? Private dining spaces for business dinners and servers who know how to serve from the left and clear to the right. Came here for a work dinner a few weeks ago. We sat in a private room upstairs, which, when the sliding doors were open was quite noisy and slightly distracting to the presentation. The servers were very kind but not super attentive so almost everyone had an empty water and/or wine glass at several points throughout dinner despite being a very small group (maybe 6 or 7 people). The food was delicious. We started with the tuna tartare and stuffed mushrooms, both of which were amazing. The house salad was awesome and dressed to perfection. I chose the ribeye and it was a massive piece of meat-only part I was disappointed about was that I ordered rare and when it came out on a piping hot plate, it continued to cook the meat so by the time I ate it, was definitely medium and a slightly gritty chewy texture in some areas. Then the blueberry cheesecake dessert was yummy. Overall, not my favorite place in town and probably wouldn't go back unless someone else paid for it again. But it was still very good. read more

We both ordered steak- she ordered a filet and I ordered the ribeye. The filet wasn't bad- has decent flavor and was cooked nicely. I have been to Ruth's before but it's been quite some time. I made a reservation recently for my wife's birthday. I hate to give anything but 5 star reviews, I really do! However, I always give an honest review, so here we go. My reservation was called in almost a week prior and it took 20 minutes to be seated. I have some social anxiety , so standing there in the bar area where other people were dining was off setting before I even sat down. My waiter seated about 3 tables right after we were seated. I just knew this wasn't going to go smoothly. We waited about 20 min to place our order after we got beverages. 1 guy - 4 tables at the same time. I don't think I'm super picky but I was staring to get hungry. I always thought of this as a "nice" place and my wife and I were nicely dressed for dinner. I was somewhat disappointed to see them seat a man with a backwards baseball cap( that his Mother did not teach him to take off ),t-shirt and shorts. He did have shoes on though. Obviously dirty tennis shoes. His wife was wearing a man's undershirt which showed off her lone , very poorly done , tattoo. I guess in todays economy , you seat whomever is willing to pay $50 per steak , a la carte, regardless of wether they're attired for garden work and a garage sale. Along with the drunken and very loud party of 14 to my left , the atmosphere wasn't ideal. When I finally ( 9:20ish) got my food , it was good!! The plate was sizzling like it does and you have to hold up the napkin. I like that!!! Don't touch that plate. The crab cakes were just ok. There was plenty crab. It was just ok. The au gratin potatoes are cubed. I can't remember if they've always been that way but I'm not really a fan. The taste was ok. I like the way the slices layer in potatoes au gratin. It was ok. The creamed spinach was a disappointment. It tasted like just plain spinach. It was creamy and served hot, it was just very bland. The steaks were sizzling , I'll give them that. My wife said she enjoyed her petite filet. My large (11oz) filet had a large chunk of gristle and fat that I've never seen on a filet before. The rest was ok. My waiter did come by once and swap my soda out when it was down to about 1/3. Then he disappeared and I was dry for some time. I had a wedge salad. It was a wedge salad. I had soda, my wife had 1 glass of wine at $9 or so and the bill for this meal was $205. I surely expected better. They had sprinkled some birthday flair on the table and brought my wife a piece of cheesecake with chocolate sauce which was the highlight of the night by far! For the $50 price of ONE steak here, I'd rather just get 1.5 lbs of prime filet ( with no fat or gristle) and cook it myself but this was a special night. I debated wether to give 4 stars and I feel just fine with my 3 star. It could very well just been an off night, but for me everything was off. I'll strongly consider someplace else when I choose to go out for my next special occasion.
