Awesome! That's it! We were in town for a funeral, unfortunately and my sister in law booked this…read morevia AirBNB. I was hesitant because I've had mixed experiences with AirBNB but once we arrived, I was in love! Please note that the lady who previously owned this passed and a family purchased this. With that said, we had some quality time with one of the gentlemen who now own it. First off, a fantastic human Ken is. Second, he told us he and his sons have plans. It's not my place to speak to some of those plans but just know they will preserve this place and its history and love. At the time, the "breakfast" part is on hiatus. It's not a negative though. This area of New Castle is a gem of a place and to be in a house that is over 150 years old is phenomenal. You're not getting the Ritz. You might see some paint flaking. You might have something not work. The floors might creak. But!!! Stop for a moment and think of how many people have passed through that house. Now, Ken and his family have made the rooms cozy and inviting. Everything you need for a few days or a week or two! Our room was nautical which, being a former sailor, I loved! The bed was comfy and the bathroom was perfect -- though my wife would love huge area to put all of her stuff! No biggie though. You're in walking distance to extremely historical sites, great food, and Battery Park. I honestly want to give up everything and help them bringing this thing to the level they envision! Good luck, Ken and family. We will certainly be back!

We also enjoy the lovely drive to get there. My children took me there for Mother's Day this year and we had the best time sharing appetizers and wine. My daughter and I visited a few weeks ago and apparently they have a new chef. I'm sure the menu is amazing if you are having dinner at the inn. However, their new shareable menu is anything but shareable!! Roasted carrots, asparagus, and tomato salad aren't exactly sharing friendly. We miss the large charcuterie board they used to have, the hummus platter, and the artichoke dip. Wonderful to share with a bottle of wine or two. Please bring back the old tasting menu, it was perfect!

The staff is incredibly friendly and engaging, and more than willing to tell you more about the property or the selection of very good wines that they serve. The flights are reasonably priced and provide a tasty selection of red, whites, or rosé. Of particular note, the Cabernet Franc and the Pinot Gris stand out as excellent selections. Grace winery also offers a selection of small plates, shareables, and other quality food items from their kitchen - and there are a number of excellent options. Of note are the burgers, the lobster sliders, the cheesesteak sliders, and the shrimp tacos. As the name suggests, Grace winery also has an in that guest can book if they're looking for a romantic getaway. There are many great options nearby that are worth visiting, you could very easily spend an entire day or the better part of a weekend without ever leaving the property. Highlights include beautiful, well-maintained grounds to walk around, a pool, horses and other animals, and the vineyard itself.

There are several structures throughout the BNB, we stayed in the Pond House in the Fats Hollow Room. The room had a beautiful view of the fountain and the pond, there is even a little row boat! The large king sized bed was super comfortable and the décor in shades of blue was very soothing. The owners are incredibly hospitable to their guests and made us feel so welcome. The check in area also serves as the "dining room" for the incredible breakfast served daily. I loved the snacks, coffee and soft drinks that are available. Breakfast was a TREAT! Homemade cinnamon rolls, crunchy fresh granola and Greek yogurt then a hearty spread of delicious sausage links, thick sourdough toast, fresh fruit (cut into delightful shapes) and a brown butter omelet. So satisfying and fresh. We raved about it for a bit! (The fresh preserves were a hit also) The location is so convenient to Longwood (which we visited), wineries and restaurants. Literally perfect. Lance and Sandy, thank you for your incredible hospitality, you truly made us feel so welcome and we'd love to return someday.

Comfort and elegance merge in each of the richly decorated rooms. I don't believe there is a bad one to be had here at the Inn, though the suites offer a tad more luxury. Your charming innkeepers are eager to please creating foods to delight the eyes and palate. Everything at Whitewing Farm is welcoming, personal and designed for ultimate in comfort. You will feel like royalty and leave refreshed. The sprawling grounds contain a pond, gazebo, tennis courts and a pool. The Haybarn is a common area that hosts a seating area with fireplace, library and wine cellar. Beautiful florals and lush greens rapture your soul as the quiet surroundings engulf you luring you away from the technology and chaos of daily life. My experience at Whitewing could not have been better, unless of course I could have stayed a few more nights and escape the reality of my life. Five full stars all the way.

Husband booked us the bedroom with two twin beds and it was a experience of wicker, flowered bedspreads and bunnies who may have seen too much. To be fair, it was reminiscent of my Grandmother's bedroom when I was a kid but we thought it was fun and rolled with it. Breakfast was wonderful and inclusive of so many things - the grilled pineapple was fantastic. Despite only staying one night, Chip invited us to return during the next day if we needed anything - it kinda felt like we were staying with family. Great experience and a wonderful start to our East Coast trip. Thanks Chip! :)
