Great location. Wonderful staff and breakfast was delicious. Only issue was, the walls and floors are way too thin. We heard the people above us the entire time and it ruined the experience. I would only come back if we got a 2nd floor room. What a great experience for our anniversary. They are incredibly accommodating, super friendly and just exactly what we were looking for in a weekend getaway. The room was redone, keeping its charm and with a certain elegance to detail that didn't go unnoticed. For example the chandelier in our room was just beautiful and tied everything together. Spending a little extra to provide L'Occitane toiletries to Starbucks K-cups in our room instead of some cheap non branded coffee. Even the paper towels used in the main building bathroom were the ultra thick kind you find in your luxury hotels. It's those little touches that make it that much more special. The grounds are beautiful and well kept and the view from our deck, while having our coffee in the morning, was super relaxing and very peaceful. For breakfast they have a few choices available in their main building. I had the oatmeal, which was spot on, hade great flavor and I really enjoyed it. My wife had their breakfast sandwich made with added ingredients of figs and arugula which she said was amazing and would have never thought of the combination. Every where you could see the fine touches to detail. Really a great relaxing stay. To top it off, it literally was just a few minutes from Longwood Gardens. I was able to purchase our tickets as well directly from the inn and the tickets are untimed, meaning you can go when you want. I highly recommend the inn and the owners are super nice as well. Under previous owners we loved this Inn. They were accommodating and always available. But on our last visit, under different management, this certainly was not the case. After checking in there was no one to be found to answer questions. The afternoon tea has been suspended and you make your own beverage with a choice of packaged treats. While the updated rooms are appreciated, the Inn has lost much of its charm and hospitality. read more

I've stayed at Fairville Inn a few times in the past usually for my bday and liked the room as well as the breakfast which is always good. I didn't care for the very tiny tv they had in the past, but it didn't keep me from returning a few times. This particular stay there was a malfunction with the heating in my room the first night. I didn't sleep at all because it was so cold even with the extra blankets that were pointed out and the use of the fireplace which made the room extremely bright. Not to mention it turns off after an hour. It just got to be too much to get up and continue to turn back on. When Willie resolved the issue the next day, he said that he would "comp" my previous night's stay as well as give me a gift certificate toward one night free when I return because we were uncomfortable. Well that never happened. When I checked out, Joy mentioned the free night with a 2 night booking but that was it. I was expecting an actual gift certificate, but she said they'd keep my name in the computer. I inquired about the previous night that was to be comped but she stated she didn't know about that or wasn't told or something along those lines. At any rate, I checked with my child who was also present when Willie came who repeated what he'd told us. I did call to follow up once I realized I wasn't mistaken. Granted, my birthday wasn't completely ruined but as I mentioned in my follow up email that I'd have definitely done more had I not been tired. I'm just very disappointed that Fairville Inn did not keep their word nor did they respond to my follow up email. As I think about it, when I emailed the next morning about the heat because I wasn't sure when someone would be in and I'd turned the fireplace on for some heat again, I didn't get a reply then either. I mentioned it when our breakfast was brought over. I was told she read it and she would send Willie over. I wasn't sure why I'd have to bring it up but it was what it was. As I stated in my last email, I didn't ask for nor did I expect anything but since Willie promised to comp the previous night and give me a gift certificate, I certainly expected that to happen. This has definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth and dampened my view of this establishment. Even with a free night, I certainly won't be booking another stay at Fairville Inn because obviously I'm not a valued repeat guest. In addition, I've recommended Fairville to friends and acquaintances. Frankly, there are simply too many other B&Bs along that corridor where I've also been a repeat guest and never had an issue to choose from and definitely didn't smell of mildew. Another issue with my room. Though nice and clean and bright I had to wash all my clothing when I got home because they reeked of mildew. read more

What a joy it was to spend our wedding weekend at Fairville Inn! We were lucky to rent out the entire inn for our family to be together, and the owners Xio and Willie were fantastic -- gracious, accommodating, communicative, and warm and welcoming. They stayed in touch with us in the months leading up to our wedding and helped us host meals for our large group - including setting up the food, tables, and tablescapes. The rooms and indoor spaces are modern, tastefully decorated, inviting, clean, and calming, and the grounds--to include a pond, wide open green space, and gardens--are beautiful. The entire staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious--the best pancakes we've ever had! Everything felt personal and picturesque. Would highly recommend Fairville as a getaway spot, and for others who want a wedding weekend to remember. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here because we were going to Longwood to see the holiday lights. When we arrived everyone was very hospitable and provided great dining options. We stayed in a suite in the Carriage House which was very nice and spacious. The room had a queen sized canopy bed, fireplace, and terrace which gave an amazing view of the meadow which was snow covered. The view was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the decor fit very well with the Inn theme. I did not particularly care for the French toast souffle that I ordered for breakfast but the warm wildberry raspberry sauce was delicious on the pound cake and the eggs were very fluffy and delicious. I will definitely plan to come here again in the warmer seasons so we can walk the meadows. read more

My fiancée and I stayed here for a night and really enjoyed it! We stayed in Main House 2 and although it doesn't mention it on their website, there is an outdoor entrance that leads to a courtyard behind the house, which was a nice surprise. The room was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. The TV was more like a computer screen but we weren't in the room too much anyway so it was fine. Fairville Inn offers afternoon cheese and crackers and mini desserts which is such a nice touch and perfect to enjoy with a bottle of wine from one of the many local vineyards. (We went to Galer Estate and loved it!) They don't serve dinner there but I read they do offer dessert- we went to dinner at Dilworthtown Inn so we missed dessert at Fairville. The next morning we had breakfast- I had orange cranberry pancakes and my fiancée had a tomato/zucchini/mozzarella frittata. They also have a cereal, yogurt and fruit buffet in addition to a hot meal. We both enjoyed our breakfasts and then left to go to Winterthur Museum (highly recommend!). We had a great time and definitely encourage people to go. Staying at an inn is so much nicer than a hotel! read more

Had a nice three day stay after Christmas. Weather turned very cold, and we were very glad we stayed in the main house, where we could get morning coffee without going outside. Pretty space, comfortable room. Breakfast was good, and not too large. Owners/staff was helpful with restaurant reservations and entry to local tourist attractions. This is a gorgeous, cozy bed and breakfast. My fiance proposed at Longwood Gardens in mid-December and surprised me with a weekend getaway here. It had just snowed, and the property was picturesque. Christmas lights were strung from the giant pine tree and we had a pretty festive wreath on our door. We stayed in a room in the carriage house. We checked into our room and went to tea at 4:00. They served pretty little snacks in the main house with a few different teas. The owner came by to say hello and recommended a good restaurant for dinner. The room had an efficiency shower and lights, but I'm all for that. We had a well-lit powder room attached to the bathroom, a comfy king-sized canopy bed, and a love seat next to the french doors that opened to our deck. The electric fireplace is on a timer, so you can just switch on and enjoy. Breakfast was delicious. The chef (the same guy who gave us the restaurant advice) doesn't mess around -- he makes quality food and changes it up every day. I had fluffy scrambled eggs with home-smoked applewood bacon. My fiance had blueberry french toast. The coffee was excellent, and the staff were sweet. This place is lovely. We will certainly be back. read more

We have stayed at Fairville Inn twice before, and this time it was for a week, just before Christmas - our first time there during the holidays. Every guest room had some tasteful decoration for the season, and the main house was decked out with a tree, wreaths, etc. We stayed in the nicest suite - Carriage House #3. It's so beautiful with cathedral ceiling, wood beams, fireplace, king size canopy bed. Rick, Laura and their staff are absolutely wonderful. Can't wait to return. read more

My husband and I have stayed here twice, and both times our stay has been wonderful. The house and grounds are beautiful and the atmosphere is laid-back and peaceful. The rooms are very clean and well-maintained. Many have their own balconies that overlook the countryside. We've stayed in the carriage house (very private--nice!) and the spring house (also very nice), but not the main house. The breakfast in the morning is delicious! The amount of time you're allotted for breakfast before the next group comes in is a bit short in my opinion (20 minutes--and I'm a fast eater), but nonetheless we haven't felt rushed or anything. We just feel bad, like we're throwing off the flow if we take longer eating! We will definitely keep this place in mind for a little get-away again in the future and would recommend it to family and friends. read more

My husband and I decided to try this bed and breakfast for our honeymoon. It's set up like little apartments inside each house. (There are 3 different houses) The bedroom was very clean and immaculately kept. We had a balcony with a beautiful overview of their 5 acre property. You can take a walk or sit on their benches that are placed throughout the garden. The breakfast was really delicious. They give you a couple of options and we chose vanilla/pecan pancakes with a side of bacon. The nice thing about this inn is they offer a wine passport to all of the wineries for a fee. They have a nice big book of different surrounding restaurants in the area. I would definately come back. read more

The Fairville Inn is an remarkable bed and breakfast. It is immaculately clean.  My room was huge, with a beautifully comfortable bed, heat I could control, a deck with chairs, and a sitting room. The staff are extremely helpful, kind and courteous. They went out of their way to make my stay special, and are there any time you need them.  I love that during Covid-19 they take the time to bring you breakfast, which was amazing every day I was there (Do try the oatmeal, it was amazing!) The chef is extraordinary.  The Fairville Inn also has all the little things that make your stay extra special, a jack in the wall for charging your phone, a lap table for breakfast in bed (or work on your laptop), a huge walk in closet, L'occtaine toiletries, extra pillows, a cozy blanket (which I used by the fireplace), more towels than a usual B & B or hotel, extra tissues, hairdryer, all these little things make you stay more like home. The décor is beautiful, and I was greeted with a hand written note, and fresh rose, in the middle of winter! read more

We wanted a weekend getaway to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. We liked the idea of a room with a fireplace, which added extra charm to the already, tasteful, fairytale-like decor. Furnishings and bed were extremely comfortable. The room was very large, with separate seating area in front of the fireplace and also overlooked the yard and gardens through large open glass door and full length side windows leading outside to our private, furnished deck. Our bathroom was large and clean with separate double sink room and walk in cloest. The shower was relaxing with powerful water pressure. Breakfast was served at a time you chose, up until 10am allowing a little extra sleep, without going hungry. 3 choices each day, and delicious with fresh fruit accompaniment. The menu changes, but if the orange-cranberry pancakes are available, we highly recommend them. Owners and ALL staff, are attentive and accommodating. It was easy to see the pride taken in their little slice of paradise. We took advantage of their recommendations for daily activities and restaurants. We are looking forward to a return visit in the near future for a longer weekend with friends. read more

My first time in the Brandywine Valley and the second time I stayed at a Bed and Breakfast and I would definitely come back to this one. I highly recommend this place. It's a warm and friendly place. The rooms in the main house are large and very comfortable. Breakfast is delicious and afternoon tea is so civilized after a day walking gardens or viewing arts and estates. The owners are so welcoming and make wonderful suggestions for dinner based on your tastes and styles. They even make reservations for you. Life is easy and good. Coming back at night sitting in the living room chatting with friends is better than being at home. Centrally located if you want to visit Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, the Brandywine Art Museum. read more

I never stayed at the Bed and Breakfast because the Inn Keeper Laura was rude on the phone. While I understand cancelation policies are more rigid with B&Bs versus hotels, Laura claimed she had to charge my credit card immediately instead of the day I arrived. When I told her this policy seemed unusual (because in my experience, every Bed and Breakfast I've been to charged me the day of arrival or checkout), she claimed I was lying and making this up. I was instantly taken back since before that she seemed like a relatively sweet older lady. I became a bit annoyed because I have receipts from other B&B's I've been to proving my story, but she didn't want to listen. Instead she just said that it was better that I didn't stay there. Given how irrate and ridiculous this Laura is, I would never advise anyone to deal with her or stay there. read more

Yes, the location is convenient to many attractions, the rooms are large and wonderful, we stayed in Suite 2. The breakfasts were mediocre at best, with watery eggs, uninspired crustless quiches, good concepts poor execution. But here is the huge problem with this B&B. There is a large black lab, who at almost every tea time, enters the tea room and walks up to the tables and begs for food and attention. I made it abundantly clear from the start that I do not like dogs and further I am afraid of all dogs and I certainly don't want them hovering around while I am trying to enjoy what should be a relaxing tea time. The owner informed me that "The dog comes with the house". But made an half hearted attempt to have the dog sit at the entrance to the room. But inevitably the dog, not being well trained, would get up and approach the tables once more. During one tea time, the owner actually had the dog sit down between my table and the food, blocking my access. I join other trip advisor guests in expressing our fear/and or dislike of dogs and not being able to enjoy our time at tea. The owner in his responses to the reviews, misses the point completely with statements about his dog not hurting anyone, everyone loving the dog and giving the dog treats,etc. I don't care what type of dog he has, friendly, sweet or otherwise. I am afraid of dogs and should not be so uncomfortable that I would have to leave tea time abruptly just to escape the dog. So, in closing, be aware of the dog, if you love dogs, great, you will have a dog on which to pour affection, if not, seek lodging at the areas other hotels and B&Bs. read more
