Breakfast on a Friday morning to celebrate my first full week of retirement. Picked the Bistro because it was on the way to one of our stops for errands that day. I had the Denver omelette with fruit on the side and Rick enjoyed the Nutella Crepes. Omelette was with fresh eggs, fluffy and chock full of ham, onions and peppers - as it should be. Such a fun and cozy little diner. Enjoyed my birthday breakfast here with my daughter and her husband. My daughter and I split a veggie omelette along with the breakfast potatoes and gluten-free pancakes. The omelette was fluffy and had a good amount of vegetables in it. The potatoes were cooked to perfection. The gluten-free pancakes were delicious. I want to note that the waitress was not only very kind and offered great service, but she discussed which options would be best for me that were gluten-free. The food was great. We had pancakes and eggs, but their staff ... it would seem they've been working there for a while and they feel very comfortable. A little too comfortable to be professional. I've been there two times and both times I saw them point and tap at each other to talk about certain customers. They're not discreet and regardless of what is being said, their body language and eyes say more than words. This makes other people, like me who noticed, wonder what brings this behavior to a setting where they could've waited or at least taken off the main floor and away from customer view. We all like to gossip here and there and no one will be able to stop them from doing it. That behavior takes away from their validity of being "adults" and the restaurant having a safe and peaceful environment for customers to eat and instead it gives them a mean girls flare where not everyone is accepted. I ordered the Scrambler with Sausage, Tomatoes, cheese and spinach. The scrambler was very tasty and the eggs were nicely cooked. I ordered the French Toast as my side and I absolutely loved the French Toast. It was very good and so tasty. The side potatoes were good as well. For years, I had passed this location and kept saying that I would eventually stop by for breakfast or lunch. It was under a different name and I think that it changed since the pandemic. Nevertheless, I had a slow Sunday, so I stopped in. I played it safe with my ordering. I stuck to my go-to breakfast choices - Belgian waffle, scramble eggs, and house potatoes. The waffle was not an Eggo, which is a winner. The eggs had to have had a little bit of salt in them because I didn't need to add any. The potatoes could have used a little seasoning, but they were hot on the plate. I remember the restaurant being rather busy in the past. There was the usual brunch feel to it with the crowd waiting outside for a seat. It may be that it was cold when I went or people are still cautious with remnants of COVID lingering. My experience today with Boulevard Bistro was not good at all. The waitress was indifferent and carried a bad disposition. I asked for coffee prior to ordering and she never brought it to my table. I had to ask again when my food was finally brought out to the table. She never refilled my coffee or asked me if i wanted anymore. She did ask how things were once during the meal. But i was astonished when i saw her sitting down eating with a plate of food while she was supposed to be taking care of us. Indifferent, cold attitude. This was not a good start to my day for breakfast. Upper management needs a word with staff on how to be courteous, welcoming and have an 'at your service' attitude. read more

They tasted like the cheap liquid eggs you get at a continental breakfast at a motel. The rest of the food was so-so except for the french toast. I did enjoy the french toast and would recommend that. The service was also mixed. The person serving us was not attentive at all and we had to remind her a few times about missing items. Though there was another server we flagged down who was helpful. The ambiance inside is best described as busy and loud. Might be hard to get a table so come early. Also, there's not much street parking so prepare for that. Overall, I personally wouldn't go back but it seems there are plenty of positive reviews to warrant a visit. read more

WOW I think I'm the new biggest fan of Boulevard Bistro! I had the great pleasure of going for my first time this past Sunday morning and I was blown away. To start, the vibe is amazing - it honestly took me back to my childhood with an old style diner vibe where you can sit at the bar rail. I honestly didn't even feel like I was in Chicago anymore! I had two sunny side up eggs, toast, and potatoes and it was everything I wanted and more. The food was very fresh and tasty and would definitely order the same meal again (tried and true!). My family who came with me, also thoroughly enjoyed their meals and we all said we would come back in a heartbeat. To top it off, the service was attentive, kind, and great throughout our entire meal despite the restaurant being completely full. We stopped after visiting the Verizon store down the block. Both establishments get 5 stars in our view. Boulevard Bistro proudly announces in its window that it is woman-owned by a former employee and we stopped to talk with her when we left. The food was plentiful and delicious; the bagel was as advertised, not frozen, the chicken noodle soup was obviously homemade as well as the corned beef hash in the skillet.
