A friend of mine told me about Tuscan Hen, and she was right. I was met by a lady with a warm, pleasing smile. I ordered their meatball sandwich and a cup of the daily special soup, similar to Pasta Fagioli. It was wonderful; the broth was outstanding. I would order that again next time. I tried their Meatball Sandwich with Hot Gardiniera; the meatballs tasted especially good with their fresh bread. The ambiance was very colorful and airy, seating is in the back patio, weather permitting. Tuscan Hen would be a good place to order catering; they have an extensive menu. read more

Tuscan Hen is my go-to lunch spot. It's a very welcoming environment, with friendly staff and a bright, clean space. Their sandwiches and pasta (dessert too) blow me out of the water every time. You can tell they take pride in their craft, everything is super fresh. I recommend their Turkey Tom. For the vegetarians, they have great rotating, seasonal options--like one with mushroom or another with eggplant. Just divine! read more

This spot is a special gem in North Center with the freshest subs and pastas! I love coming here and always get the Well St. Italian Sub. It is so tasty and fresh everytime! I love enjoy their cacio e Pepe and their spaghetti and meatballs. They make everything to order but it is worth the wait. I will have to try their delicious desserts one day. Had the Parpadelle Bolognese and it was very good. So was the garbanzo bean side salad. Service was good. Inside was ok though the music was loud and there was a speaker above almost all the tables. There was an outside patio but it was too warm for that. Will I go back again? I may. Little pricey for lunch but I splurged so as expected. read more

I'm giving them 2 stars because when I complained they made me a new sandwich, which I appreciate. But both times I have been in here they put almost no meat on my sandwich (see my photo). Today I got their prosciutto sandwich and it had one slice on it. I basically ate a arugula, jam and bread sandwich. That's just not ok. I shouldn't have to complain to get it right. I realize costs have gone up, and if that's why they are being cheap with the meat, then either don't make the sandwich or charge more. But $13 for a sandwich with no prosciutto on it is pretty shitty. I wouldn't want anyone eating that if I owned the place. Again, I appreciate that they replaced it, but I shouldn't have had to tell them this (and it's the second time it's happened). I wish them the best of luck, but I won't be back. read more

Tuscan Hen did an amazing job making the sandwiches for my daughter's graduation party, and they also prepared delicious bowtie pasta. The turkey, Italian, and Caprese sandwiches were a huge hit with everyone (the Italian was my favorite), and the cupcakes were also amazing and didn't last long. Tuscan Hen Market is a location I had multiple people recommend to me before I had the chance to try it. It is a super cute cafe style setup. I ordered just a sandwich, which was very delicious and well made. It is on the slightly pricier end, but I think it was worth it for the quality. The staff were extremely kind, and even offered to bring my originally to-go order to my table once I decided to sit outside on their patio. I will definitely be going back to try more! read more

Tuscan Hen is the absolute best! Awesome spot to stop in for hot and cold sandwiches. They also have great pasta that's all handmade. They sell frozen pasta that you can take home and heat up for your family. Don't sleep on the back patio in the summer, such a great spot to stop by with friends! It took me so long to try this place but after looking at the menu and some other reviews, I finally decided to give them a try. I only got the chicken pesto sandwich and chips but I can't wait to try their pasta as well. They didn't skimp on the meat or the mozzarella and the chicken breast was very juicy. Everything tasted fresh, the pasta is made in-house and the staff was really friendly. Will definitely be returning! read more

I placed a huge order with Tuscan Hen Market to be delivered to our office where out of town employees had gathered for an onsite meeting and they did not disappoint! I ordered the big tuna, and this is the first time I've ordered from this restaurant. I was a little disappointed. I'm sure the other food is good, but I felt like I was eating a pickle sandwich. I could not taste the tuna because the pickles were overpowering it And they weren't slices of pickles. It was almost like a pickle condiment inside the tuna salad. I will not order this again. I was craving for some delicious Italian food and this place definitely hit the spot! This place is counter service, with some seating inside, and There is a patio out back. However, we just decided to do take out. We ordered the Alfredo (meatless for those carnivores wondering. Not sure if you can add meat for extra charge) and the carbonara. I do not have any pictures to show because we ate everything in sight! Didn't last very long! Everything tasted very fresh and the pasta sauce was very rich and tasty. Potatoes on a sandwich? That sounds like a carb party (aka my kind of party)! That was the Briar Drive Artichoke Sandwich, which was very tasty, but it had nothing on the Farmer's Market panini. THAT, my friends, was a little bit of heaven. Both sandwiches were super fresh and seemed to be of great quality. I was so excited to find this gem delivers, and for a truly reasonable fee. Established in 2013.

We started selling our fresh artisan pastas, ravioli, lasagna and sauces at the Green City Farmers Market three years ago. This is our first brick and mortar store and we couldn't be more excited to be a part of the North Center community.

Meet the Business Owner: Lorraine O.

Lorraine always dreamed of opening a storefront like her grandfather Louis Lattanzio, who owned an Italian market and butcher shop in Maywood, Illinois from 1920 to 1944. She wanted to preserve the small community market places of that era with an updated version of her own, serving family recipes made in small batches with fresh local ingredients. Her dream became a reality with the opening of Tuscan Hen Market in January of 2017.

My son and his girlfriend have been there many times, and insisted we get the whipped ricotta appetizer and kale salad. Both of these items were top notch, as were the cocktails and we enjoyed. The pasta bolognese that the ladies ordered was delicious. My son had the burger and fries, and it was fine, just not very special. I ordered the "half" chicken, thinking as a bird themed restaurant, the only poultry entree would be a star, but that was not the case. A small thigh and half of a breast was their interpretation of a half chicken, and this was noted on the menu, but the portion was disappointing. The dish was supposed to to be accompanied by polenta with trumpet mushrooms, but two paltry slices of mushroom with a small smear of polenta completed the dish which "artfully" only occupied the left half of the plate, leaving the rest of the plate bare. Small portions aside, the dish was overly salty, to the point I had dry mouth the rest of the night, and the chicken was overcooked. The taste was fine, and the little bit of polenta added enough moisture to make the dish work. The worst thing was the incredibly dull dinner knife that couldn't cut through the mushroom, let alone the chicken, causing me to apply the stab and pull/tear method to get bite sized pieces. Everything thing else was superb. I would go back for the cocktails and appetizers, perhaps grazing the appetizers and a salad as a dinner. The pastas all looked terrific, but I will probably steer clear of the four mains on the menu, as they seem to be the least inspired items to order.

The pizza was so delicious that I couldn't give up on the pizza shop. During my recent order I tried the sweet chili wings and it was unbelievable. The wings had a crisp to them but the sweet chili sauce had a nice kick to them. Like many places it's not a full wing but split in half so keep that in mind. It's still a good amount of food. I normally order the tavern style pizza and Tortorice's does not hold back on toppings. Each slice is jam packed with toppings. Everything tastes fresh and high quality. One thing to note is I ordered my food for a specific pick up time but ended up having to wait additional time for the rest of my order to be ready. I know the food is worth the wait so I don't mind but giving a heads up so you don't come starving and expect to get your food right away. It's happened the last few visits. The location is located conveniently on Irving Park so it's easy to find. Parking might be an issue if you drive.

When I found out Tuscan Hen was setting up shop in our neighborhood, I couldn't have been more thrilled. My family became huge followers of Tuscan Hen after discovering them at the Farmers Market. Now we have access to their lovely fresh Italian creations all week!! I visited Tuscan Hen last Thursday with my two little ones for lunch. The 2 year-old loved the grilled cheese and the environment was very kid-friendly. I had the chicken pesto sandwich, which was fresh and delicious! I bought the braised short rib lasagna and a frittata (see pic) to take home. My hubby really enjoyed the lasagna - what an easy way for a busy mom to feed the fam! This was a great way to spice up our menu while keeping the food healthy and easy. No doubt we will definitely be back. read more
