It wasn't an unreasonable cover charge for access to bathrooms and a bar. So why two stars? Because about ten minutes after we paid the cover, they stopped charging people entirely and didn't offer refunds to the people who had paid. That just sucks. So not only did we pay and others didn't, the place was then mobbed by parade-goers looking for bathrooms and drinks. Do better.

We booked a private event package that included catering, bowling, axe throwing, and soft drinks. From the moment we arrived, it felt like no one was actually managing the event. We spent most of the evening tracking down staff, asking for updates, requesting game repairs, and trying to figure out what was supposed to happen next. One of the first issues involved the food. We were never informed where our buffet was located. I eventually had to ask someone, only to be directed to a buffet set up on the opposite side of the room from our group in a public area, nowhere near where we had been told to gather. I had to request that it be moved. Even after it was relocated, it was still placed far from our group despite there being available space much closer. The food itself was disappointing. The fried pickles were so heavily battered that most of our guests couldn't even tell what they were supposed to be, and much of the appetizer went uneaten. We also ordered a quesadilla trio, but only cheese quesadillas appeared to be served. Looking back at our contract, our package also included soft drinks. At no point were we informed of that, offered any, or told how to access them. The only beverage service we received was after I specifically requested water, at which point a pitcher of warm tap water with a metallic taste was brought to the table. The games were equally frustrating. We experienced equipment issues, service interruptions, and long waits for assistance. When lanes stopped working, we pressed the call button and waited. No one came. We repeatedly had to leave our guests and go find staff ourselves. The biggest issue was communication. We were later told that our axe-throwing time had already started, even though no one had informed us. We were then told our activities needed to be cut short because another group was coming in, despite the venue being largely empty and no replacement group ever appearing. One of our guests also had an unpleasant interaction at the bar after requesting a drink that one bartender didn't know how to make and asked a fellow staff member for assistance with. According to our guest, the second bartender responded with profanity, loudly stating that she didn't give a f*** and was leaving, before grabbing her belongings and walking out. When our guest brought this interaction to management's attention, she was reportedly told to calm down and stop cursing, even though she was simply repeating the language that had been used by the employee. The most disappointing part of the evening was the birthday cake. After requesting it, we waited about 30 minutes before having to track someone down again. When it finally arrived, there was no opportunity to gather guests or sing Happy Birthday. It was immediately cut and served. What should have been a special moment became another frustration. The overall impression left on us and our guests was not simply that the evening was disorganized, but that management was largely indifferent to the problems we were experiencing. Issue after issue was brought forward, yet very little was done to address them in a meaningful way. The evening felt disorganized, chaotic, and poorly managed from start to finish. This experience left us incredibly disappointed. Unfortunately, neither we nor any of our guests have any interest in returning.

the quartz bar inside of a hostel - which means its open 24/7. little side bar here, its basically…read morea lobby with a bar and some tables and chairs. however, the crowd is awesome (for the most part). we came here 2 nights. the first night we stopped in, and the first drink was free. awesome! they like to experiment with their mixed drinks and the bar tenders are very friendly. youre basically hanging out with your friend. drinks after that are a modest 5 to 7 bucks. they have cans of local craft beer too. they play music and movies. everyone was nice. bathrooms are clean. the people staying in the hostel do come and go, but be social and make a new friend. once the manager left after 2 am, something switched in the air. 1 drunk man was hovering over me, after i asked him to leave, the guy working the bar told him to get away. then another very creepy, pushy, and drunk woman came over and bothered us. we finished our drink and left. the rest of the night was great, mind you we were here for like 3 hours. came back the 2nd night. it was dead. we grabbed a drink anyway. we were told that the previous night after we left, the drunk woman snapped and gave the managment and bar tenders major issues. she ended up damaging the place and getting kicked out. so take this place with a grain of salt. since its a hostel, youre gonna have people from all walks of life here. however, the bar tenders and manager are very professional and will gladly kick out or call the police if any funny business happens.

OMG I had the best time and the best experience at the New Orleans fairgrounds a few weeks ago. I…read moreattended a business related lunch event and it was amazing from start to finish when I arrived. I was greeted and escorted via Will Call to the VIP section for an elaborate Creole New Orleans lunch. The food catered by Messina's was so flavorful, so many great options and so delicious the team and the weight staff definitely outdid themselves. We also had our own exclusive bar and bartender who was simply amazing and offered great hospitality. We then had a chance to bid on the races, which was my first time there and the experience was so delightful. The digital screens helped to guide you through the process and made it very easy for horse race selections. I actually loved going downstairs to see the horses in the stables as they lined up to go to the track. It was so nice to see the horses, the trainers and equestrian up close and personal. I have so much fun and will definitely be back again when the season opens. I will definitely put this on my list of things to do while in New Orleans especially when the weather is so beautiful at the fairgrounds.

Horse Racing! I…read morecan't believe I e lived my entire life and never been to a horse race. Now that I've been, I can't wait to go back. I am no expert on horse racing. So take this review with a grain of salt if you are. But if you're not, you should go to a race. It is fun! On both occasions that I visited, I paid for clubhouse seats. That is absolutely necessary. In fact, despite the clubhouse seats, I watched several of the races at track side where it was free to enter on the days I went. Yes. There is betting. Yes. There are people who have a system. I am not one of them. Here's what I do, I watch the horses walk around the paddock and whichever one looks the feistiest, or has the coolest name, that's who gets my bet. I'm not really successful with this strategy but it's a blast. Races are kid friendly and mine had a great time. Come see a race. You'll have fun!

We recently joined Lakeside so that our daughter could join the swim team…read more So far we're enjoying our membership, and my daughter is having a great time being a member of their pretty excellent swim team. The kids practice 4 times per week and I'm impressed with the coaching. There's a small workout room that I've been using in the morning while she's at practice. It's small, and not very fancy, but has all the equipment I need. There are 2 treadmills, a bike, an elliptical, free weights, yoga mat, balance ball, and a multi exercise workout machine. There is a snack bar with a fairly large menu. Everything from mozzarella sticks to quesadillas and a few pretty tasty salads. They also have a great bar - I've enjoyed a couple or so very tasty Bloody Mary's. There are a couple of tennis courts and there's a reception space that's available for rent. It's a small club with a big heart.

I've tried both kickball and dodgeball and have had a ton of fun playing both and have met great new people! There are kickball leagues for all levels (some nights are more competitive than others) but if you contact the franchise owner Sean he will be happy to help you find the right league for you! My favorite thing about WAKA is the community feel. Everyone will play games at the field and then there is a league bar where everyone goes after and hangs out. The leagues vary but some have flip cup games going on, dodgeball has a variety of bar games (pool, air hockey, beer pong, etc.), and all of them have a keg for the WAKA players. The leagues cost about $69 for the season but it comes with a free shirt and free beer at the bar. Just a tip: most of the teams are established so I recommend joining with a friend or 2 or creating your own team! If you join with a friend you can request for them to be put on the same team as you. I highly recommend WAKA New Orleans for all of your adult entertainment needs (but not those needs...)
