This was one of the first gay bars we came to during our stay. I didn't know what to expect, but we were recommended to come by one of our friends. It is a cash only bar, which we conveniently had, otherwise there is an ATM in the back. When we got inside, it was pretty empty and there were some gogo's on the bar top. All the patrons were in their own cliques, but the vibe was very chill. We had one drink before we left, and it was very affordable compared to some of the other bars in close proximity. I believe we paid $6 for 2 drinks and a cup of water. We ended up coming back at night a couple of days later, and it was much more crowded. It was a $10 cover and there really wasn't much going on. I did meet someone at the bar, which was fun. I would come check this place out if you're in the area, but I didn't feel like it was anything spectacular or out of the ordinary. read more

As far as I know, this bar is the ONLY thing remotely like it in the world. If you like go-go boys of various sizes and shapes on the bar and walking around the bar for conversations and tips, it's a great place. No stage, no barrier between customers and dancers. Please tip your dancers. If you decide to talk/interact with a dancer while they are on the floor, a reasonable tip is about $1/minute for any 1-on-1 time you chose to have. read more

Went here on my last NOLA trip and it did not disappoint! It's a small hole in the wall bar and has happy hour from 12-7pm. Prices are really good and the bartender was very nice. Corner Pocket is a dive bar serving cheap beer, wine and liquor pours. It's also a safe space in New Orleans for gay guys to relax, have fun, ogle the cute dancers on the bar, and lighten their wallets of $1 bills. Although more calm during the week, the bar can be packed to the rafters with excited guys on weekends and New Orleans gay events such as Southern Decadence, Pride, Halloween and even Mardi Gras. Most of the dancers appear to be college-age and love putting on a show. Tip a few bucks to help them with their expenses and loans! Apparently the bar may require women to have male friends "escort" them in the bar. Some women may be offended by that, but think about the many Magic Mike-type venues catering to women that don't allow straight or gay men to enter at all. read more

As many tourists do, I decided to bounce around to various bars and clubs in the Bourbon Street area so I could get a taste of them all. I must say that once I got to "Corner Pocket," I didn't want to go to any other bars! My group of friends and myself LOVED this bar! The prices are no bad at all, the drinks and music were awesome, and the "dancers" were an incredible part of the entire experience. These guys dance on the bar and definitely keep you entertained, so have your cash ready to tip them. Trust me, you'll want to! In addition to the very entertaining gentlemen on the bar, we also fell in love with our fun and witty bartender, Ashley! She absolutely made our entire night! I can't say enough good things about her. Overall, this bar is incredible, and I wish I could have stayed longer just to go back a few more times to this bar. We came here with our bachelorette party. (2 gay guys and 3 girls. This was the worst experience of my several years on bourbon street. Been here couple times and never have had an issue tonight the bar tender, older white man with military haircut who clearly doesn't work out, yelled at my girls for calling the cowboy man over to give him a tip. Corner Pocket - Gay Bars Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

The Corner Pocket is a New Orleans institution. It's a dive bar with one pool table and a stable of young dudes dancing on the bar in their underwear for your dollars. Most of these boys are slim/smooth twink-y types, but a few boys are older and a little more "rough trade" looking if that's your thing. I'm going to hazard a guess and say that more than 3/4 of the dancers are some form of "gay for pay," so don't mistake their attention for anything authentic. Make sure to get a bunch of singles from the cash-only bar and tip the boys well. They will treat you very special for a few minutes or come down off the bar and hang with you. Unfortunately, the claustrophobic nature of the bar precludes any "private dance" rooms, so a lot of the higher-priced hijinks end up happening outside the bar where you are basically at the mercy of some very clever little hustlers. Be warned. Still, a really great place to hang out in the Quarter if you've got a little bit of cash and you want some penis in your face. read more

If you're into strippers dancing on the bar and stuffing dollars into their g-strings (with lots of gratuitous penis flashes) then this is definitely your place. This bar is loaded with good-looking 20-something twinks who are "working", and it's also loaded with 60-something mature men who love them. I'm 44 years old, and there was no one inside this establishment within 15 years of my age (younger or older) which was a weird feeling. As my best friend says, "strippers love money" and boy was that ever on display here! I was thoroughly entertained by the spectacle, but bored quickly after two beers and headed out the door to greener pastures. Not really a place I'd like to hang, but I recommend it for at least one beer. There's apparently a cover charge after 9:00, I escaped that by arriving about 5 minutes before that kicked in -- I have no idea what the cover is, but if it's $5 or less, then it's worth it even if it's just for one quick beer or cocktail. The staff here is extremely friendly and welcoming. While other reviewers seem to be put off by the fact that women must be accompanied by men, I find that policy to really make this place a special place for gays in Nola. Many of the city's gay bars are overrun by bachelorette parties at night, which kind of gets old. While I believe all women should have safe bars to have fun, our community, which includes LGBT women, needs our space too. read more

If you think a dollar will make Honey Boo-Boo holler-you should see what THESE boys will do to get a dollar! Came in not expecting anything but some go-go boys, having never been here before Southern Decadence. WOW. They had a ton of different types of guys each night, at least 12 different guys dancing around various parts of the bar (which is NOT a large space, by any stretch of the imagination) at all times, everything from skinny-twink to more muscle-type guys. Having never been here before, I don't know if that's the norm or just because it was Decadence-either way I was impressed to see the variety of dancers, some of whom were more..um.. impressive...than others. The only thing that bothered me about 98% of the dancers-they either had no butt and/or couldn't dance. There were some notable exceptions, who, in my opinion, more than earned every dollar (or more) that they got from the other patrons. It's absolutely dive-y, but in the most fabulous way. The main bar was always crowded, but the bartenders always seemed to tear through each order and the wait was never long. Drinks were moderately priced, and well-poured. There was also a bar at the back of the establishment, which I think was open til around 2 or 3, should you need to go somewhere other than the main bar Even though smoking is allowed in the bar (as it is in all the bars I went to in NOLA) they must have some killer air-cleaner machines because it never seemed like a smokey mess, even as small as this bar is. Bottom line-fun place to go, either at the beginning of your night out or the end of your night out, but I don't think I would make this the ONLY place to go all night. read more

ABSOLUTE TRASH! we were here over the weekend and i've never experienced something like this before. first thing, we had 3 girls with us and they were singled out and given attitude by all the staff (NOT THE DANCERS) the entire night. after i ordered my first drink i kinda walked to the side to get my all my change in order and set my drink down, the bartender took this as me not tipping, when i was most definitely going to just has to move out of the dancers steps way because i had no hands to hand him a tip. later on i order shots and it took all my cash so when i walked to the atm, he automatically assumed i wasn't tipping him when i literally walked to the atm to get out cash FOR HIS TIP and made a rude comment and then stopped serving our entire group saying that none of us was tipping him. we had been there for about an hour and our group of 5 people in that hour had spent about $600 in drinks, and tips for the dancers and BARTENDER. when we left because of the way we were treated we told the manger and he had no care in the world to fix the problem when there were even 2 dancers standing out side with him and told him how much our group had been tipping all night.
