I made the appointment with the receptionist two weeks out clearly stating my Groupon and the fact that I have been there before, but as a mother not a patient she said they will honor the Groupon no problem since I myself would be a new patient but on the day of the appointment an hour before multiple calls back-and-forth to say that they cannot honor my Groupon and kept going back on what was discussed during the initial appointment call , three phone calls later appointment was canceled anyways by their receptionist. Did not even have the courtesy to offer their normal price instead of the Groupon! Total waste of time and energy and half day taken off work :(

(I eagerly bolted.) My teeth and gums were and are good. They just begged for a real dentist who can do the things that dentists are supposed to do. When Dr. Safaei opened his practice on Ventura, I was one of his first patients and was relieved at his professionalism. He and his staff are wonderful. I will list a few reasons as to why I gave this place one star. Starting off with the service. I called one day to make an appointment since my tooth was hurting. Keep in mind I had somewhere to be that day and wasn't planning on coming in. As I was on the phone trying to make an appointment, the receptionist had insisted on me coming in that hour to look at my teeth. I had explained how I didn't have time and that I wanted to come a different day, especially since the pain was manageable. But she was adamant with me coming in that day. So I prioritized my health over my other plans and stopped by to get my tooth checked out. When I got in the people were nice and took care of me. They did some x-rays, and even took a 3D image of my teeth. After getting my teeth checked, the doctor had explained how I should get a filling. No biggie , I just had to call them when I was ready to make an appointment for this service. The next day I looked at the service charged on my insurance and there were multiple charges of different x-rays that my insurance didn't cover. I'm no dentist but I didn't see a point of doing all sorts of different x-rays to assess my one tooth. For me it felt unnecessary and expensive. As I continued looking at the charges I noticed that I was charged for the 3D model of my teeth. At the moment of getting the 3D model I didn't think much about it, all they said was to open up and then they put the wand in my mouth to make the image. I don't think they thought once about me as a patient but rather it felt like they were trying to take advantage of the situation by doing a bunch of extra x-rays that I didn't exactly need as a way to increase their profit. The next day I called the receptionist and asked her about the charges. I was also charged an emergency service charge since I came in that day despite me wanting to come in another day. So, after explaining the situation the receptionist took off the emergency charge but I was still left having to pay a couple hundred for the x-rays they took that day. I explained how I was confused why they took a 3D image if they weren't making crowns or molds that would require a 3D model of my teeth, and the receptionist proceeds to tell me that I'm not getting crowns and how she was confused about my questions. All I was trying to do was understand the charges that were made, and she stated to get frustrated at my questions. So I asked if I could come in to talk with the doctor. She then explains how I have to make an appointment in order to do so. So I asked if it's free and she said that it would be $100 to speak with the doctor about the x-rays and charges. This was ridiculous to me given that I wanted to better understand the service they did. Overall, this situation felt like they took advantage of my situation leaving me paying for services that I still don't know why were done. To add to this, I did some further investigation and came across the Better Business Bureau, which is a non profit that accredits businesses. When looking at there business profile it read BABY STROLLERS. I don't know what this means but it seems off. The point of all this is to just caution you from getting scammed like I was. I had a very disturbing interaction with Dr. Shawn Matian at Equinox…read more I was doing weighted squats on a machine with 27.5-pound weights on each side. My right shoulder was hurting and, when I became fatigued, I had to release the weights. He approached me and sarcastically asked if I was OK. I told him I was tired. He then began questioning whether I knew anything about the gym and continued lecturing me, so I told him to mind his own business. Instead of walking away, he later stood directly next to the machine with another man and watched me continue my workout. During my fourth set, with my shoulder hurting, I again had to release the weight because I could no longer safely hold it. He then became loud and aggressive toward me. I explained that I could not hold the weight and told him to mind his own business. He responded by calling me a "f cnt." I found the interaction intimidating enough that I was unable to finish my workout. What I found especially disturbing was the way he chose to speak to a woman he did not know. While this happened outside of his dental office, being a healthcare professional does not begin and end at the office door. In my view, professionalism includes how you conduct yourself toward other people in the community, especially when you hold a position of trust. As a physician myself, I found this behavior particularly troubling coming from another licensed healthcare professional. I am sharing my firsthand experience exactly as it occurred.
