(Visited 3/11/2021.) Working in Malta for the week and I chose to stay downtown Saratoga Springs because of it's very nice walking abilities. On my first day exploring the town I walked by this place that had a sign out front advertising their happy hour from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Sadly, it was after 6:00pm already so I made it a goal of mine to come back the next day for happy hour... so I did! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: Right off of Caroline Street is this hidden gem. It's a small "hole-in-the-wall" establishment and that's totally okay. The bar is on the left side and there are more seats available on the right, but back in the day pre-COVID-19 this place was like a standing-room only establishment. Lol. The music is great, the vibes are great, the décor is modern and I like it. Service: Alyssa took excellent care of me and made sure that everyone at the bar was as well. She's very good at her job. Food: So this place doesn't serve food, but because of the new COVID-19 restrictions, you HAVE to have food in front of you if you order a drink. So the bartenders will throw 2 taquitos in the microwave and give them to you. Lol. I thought it was a nice quirk. However, I liked hanging out there so much, I asked if I could bring my own food in... you know, kinda like how wineries do it. Alyssa said it wouldn't be a problem so I walked across the street to Pizza 7 and grabbed some wings. (Check out that review for my opinion on their wings.) The Bourbon Room's, bourbon, whiskey and scotch selection is amazing. Well over 100 different varieties to choose from! Value: Happy hour whiskeys were only $6.00 and they were quite good. None of that TRASH rail stuff. Lol. The prices of drinks will vary of course, but if you're coming to drink good dark liquor, then prepare to spend good money. Common sense. The only way this places loses a star is because it's cash only. *Sigh*. It's 2021, just take electronic payments already! I hate carrying and using cash. There is an ATM inside if you need to use it and of course you'll get charged a fee. In conclusion, I absolutely loved it here. Huge shout out goes to Alyssa for letting me bring my food in, because it definitely made me spend more money drinking as well. Lol. Whenever I'm in Saratoga Springs in the future I will certainly be making my way here to hang out again. We had a GREAT time here. The night we came, this appeared to be the only bar on the block that wasn't doing karaoke -- which we were not in the mood for. In addition to a great pantry of bourbon, they also have a good beer selection. The bartender was delightful. Regrettably, I cannot read her name on my receipt. She had slightly longer-than-shoulder-length, light brown hair. She did a great job. The bouncer was also really friendly. Bartender there that came in on Thursday, July 18th around 7pm totally scammed me. She started with some pretentious act and followed up with charging me double what she should have for a single pour of Basil Haydens and then said she had to run my credit card on the tab to cancel it out even though I paid cash. What do you know... I got charged on my credit card as well. The funny thing is I called her out on it and told her I knew what she was up to and she still did it. I bet she is doing this to a LOT of customers. I know other friends that hate going here when she is bartending. The other girl that bartends is great according to my friends, but this one has to go or removed by the police. read more

My experience tonight was as good as it gets. Your mileage may vary, but I'll start with five stars. Bourbon Room is dedicated to drinikin' yet with a veneer of civility. You can get combos of a pint and a shot. You can get a card, froyo style, which gives you 16 ounces for $5 and allows you to put any 16 ounces you want into a glass by swiping a card. And there is a happy hour where you get a chit good for a second beer when you buy one BUT you can save the chit for another day. I was here for the 21st Amendment launch in Saratoga and some free beer may have colored my appreciation. I found good company, good service and a pleasant environment without that confounded rock 'n roll you find in more contemporary establishments. A bonus is that you can order food and they will schlep it in from Esperanto next door. Only thing that would make it better is to have pennies embedded in the floor. If you want an amazing selection of bourbon, you have found the right place. We stumbled upon the Bourbon Room while walking around downtown Saratoga. Great space with an awesome jukebox! Liz was an excellent bartender and fashioned us some great cocktails. One was the Caroline julep and another was the Leelin Manhattan. Fresh ingredients, superb options, and a great vibe in general. Of course when one sees the name Bourbon Room you have to check it out. Stopped in here last night with my friends while waiting for our pizza pie order next door. Overall, it's a very clean bar. The bartenders are VERY nice here. One of them was kind enough to ask if he wanted to take our picture of me and my group after watching us attempting to take it ourselves They have a great selection of top-shelf liquor. Not exactly a "fun bar" but it is a good place to go if you want to attempt to escape the college crowd because the drinks are pricier and has more of an upscale feel to it. My friend ordered a mint julep here and of course I had to try. In my opinion, it was much sweeter then it should have tasted. I ordered a Manhattan- and it was average. I have had both much better and worse. I had higher expectations for this place but it wound up being very average. However. This is a great place to go and have a few pops. The selection is fabulous and the bartenders are very friendly. The drinks are great and they definitly pack a punch. They have about 300 bourbons so they have quite the selection. It is a little small in there and you will feel a little cramped if there are a lot of people. So I am new to town as of last year. I frequent bourbon room quite often. Every time I go in I get phenomenal service. I brought a date out and brought her here. Definitely not a fancy cocktails place and not all the bartenders are bourbon connoisseurs like you would expect. It's almost like any other townie bar except that this one has a load of bourbons, which is not a bad thing. Good bourbon selection and I really enjoyed not being gouged by pretentious pricing. However, I've never had a Manhattan with so much grenadine. But hey, if you like whiskey but also want sweet, that's the drink for you. The old fashioned wasn't amazing, but it was good. Do ask the bartender for a recommendation. I asked for smokey and not peaty and boy did he deliver a great Knob creek with ice that was dark on the tongue but had a pleasant maple finish. I wanted to like this place, because it's beautiful, and I love bourbon. Unfortunately it fell a little short for me. First I went on a Friday night at around 8pm in September. It was so loud, and so packed and if I hadn't been there with other people I would have walked right out. The drinks themselves were fairly interesting, albeit with some misleading descriptions. My friend order a drink on the cocktail menu that looked like a mix drink. SURPRISE! it wasn't. Which if you like to drink things on the rocks you would have been pleased. If you didn't however...you would have been shocked. Which we were. Also when she asked for them to add soda to it, they were a bit sassy about it. I can't even remember what other drinks we got, besides one with a rosemary twig in it, so I can't call anything out by name but the other drinks were good. Nothing blew me out of the water. I feel like if I had gone on a week day for happy hour I would have loved this place. I'm torn because it wasn't really the bar's fault that I dropped two stars, but more of the people in the bar? But Atmosphere is part of the experience so I will try it again on a slower night, but I will be avoiding this place on the weekends for sure. read more

This place is awesome! Swanky, but low key bar right where all the action is on Caroline Street! It's classy, but chill with fun cocktail creations and fun music. It's a pretty small space, but very clean and beautifully decorated. They have a nice selection of bourbons like Buffalo Trace and Woodford Reserve, which I enjoy. Great place to pop in for a cocktail before making your rounds to other places around Caroline Street, or posting up and partying all night. The drinks are great, the place is small and cozy, and the people working the bar are great. If you happen to run across Dennis there, he makes kick ass drinks and if you have questions about a given drink, he's the guy to explain it to you. I love this bar! I am a fan of bourbon but I also love that they have a full bar and their craft beers are always changing. They cater to Caroline Street with their wide selection of alcohol while staying true to their bourbon atmosphere. I have came here on a few occasions. One when I was with my girlfriends on a monday night during track season, they had a great shot/beer special, they were packed for a monday! My other experiences have been on weekends which didn't disappoint. The bar was filled with customers singing along to the jukebox, dancing, and the bartenders looked like they were having a great time as well. I wanted to try a new bourbon so they recommended one to me and gave me a back story as well as recommended a few others. I will be back next time I'm in town! read more

I had the worst experience here last night with 2 girlfriends. They had an advertisement for 2 for 1 drinks for ladies from 11pm-close on Saturday nights and when I tried to get mine I was told that the bar was under new ownership and they were no longer offering that. I told him that it was false advertising and he just said "we haven't gotten around to fixing what rolls on the TV yet". Then, my friend was trying to get the bartender's attention to order a drink and was continuously looked at and ignored. I had to flag the bartender down, and she then under poured my friend's mixed drink out of spite. Then the male bartender was too busy texting to acknowledge my other friend when she tried to order her second drink. This establishment has gone down hill considerably and I was appalled at how unprofessional it has become. read more
