Called the Delmonico steak. So so so good...
    Arnesto S.

So, I was invited to dinner by the dear friend and infamous Fello Raymond accompanied by Safety Bob to a rather fancy dancy eatery called Salt and Char in Saratoga, New York. What an amazing place. Beautiful inside and out. Pure elegance and class. Those who know me know that I am a simple eater but love it all. Not sure what I ordered but wow.. this place is one for the books and encourage all to visit. Ms. Carly, thank you for putting up with my shenanigans. You are equally as beautiful as you are professional and helpful. Remember to support your local eateries so we all don't starve...

Receipt of a huge splurge meal

Special splurge meal with a couple buddies Started with the Broadway tower for 2 -- all the seafood was excellent. Shrimp were huge, salmon crab and Tuna were all delicious Lobster dumplings - probably the most delicious bite of the meal. It's pricy tho I got the delmonico - 16oz boneless ribeye. Perfectly cooked med rare, no complaints at all. Au poivre sauce was ok but probably could leave out Unpictured - Other friend ordered the 7oz wagyu top cap, which was described as meat butter. Sooooo tender. And the other ordered 18oz dry aged Kansas strip - meaty and flavorful. Can't go wrong with any of these Sides: Mac n cheese with lobster was wonderfully creamy and succulent, with good pieces of lobster. Brussel sprouts w/bacon was great and the only green thing in our meal. Potato dauphinoise - probably could've done without - not special Wild mushrooms was good We all also ordered a lobster tail add on to our steak -- we definitely won't do this again. Not worth the $35 for a small tail that was swimming in butter and overcooked My old fashioned was perfectly made. A friend loved his martini. Another got a Johnnie walker blue on a rock - this was a splurge that is not worth it but that was known going in The dining room consists of several smaller rooms. Our r9om had 3 or 4 tables, and a couple times was loud. But nothing too crazy. Our waitress Danielle was wonderful. Very personable and super knowledgeable of the whole menu. She offered her suggestions when asked, and checked in on us. Her helper (forgot his name) was also great and refilled water quickly. We'd suggest Salt and Char to anyone, knowing that it's not cheap. Maybe avoid the lobster add on but definitely go for the lobster dumplings.

The warm delicious bread with creamy salty butter.

Salt and Char has a wonderful ambiance. We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. It's located inside the Adelphi Hotel. The table setting are pretty, the placemats are stamped leather and matches the menu. They served warm delicious bread, which I could probably eat for my whole meal. My husband and I both had cocktails which were delicious, but I forgot to take a picture of them. He had a mezcal based cocktail and I had a tequila based one. For dinner I had the filet mignon and it was cooked wonderfully. However my husband's dry aged steak was next level. The lobster macaroni and cheese was pretty good as well. My husband and I split the peanut butter torte, and it was divine. The bill came with two decadent chocolate truffles.

Salt & Char was amazing. The food was fabulous so was the ambiance. We rented the private wine cellar for a celebration and it could not have been a better location. Our party could actually talk to each other and the service was phenomenal. I would highly recommend both the food and location to anyone looking for a high-end dining experience in the heart of Saratoga Springs.

After an evening walk exploring downtown Saratoga. We decided to finish off our food experience eating dessert at Salt and Char. We had a tough time picking the dessert and we finally narrowed it down to Samoa cheesecake or chocolate crème Brulee. We ended up going with the latter and we weren't disappointed. The dessert had the right amount of sweetness, crunch and texture that just melted in your mouth. The place was packed, has great ambience, and has outdoor seating. I would have chosen outdoor, but with the restaurant about to close we settled down inside.

Old Fashioned happy hour?! Rye and not sweet for Mr Bill S

After a few days in Saratoga Springs, I'm comfortable with the surroundings and came across Salt & Char. I walked in and asked to dine at the bar. It's also happy hour and my go to Cocktail is offered, talk about happiness! While my Old Fashioned is being prepped, I order a steak and something called an "Angry Potato". Now I know potatoes are very versatile, they can power clocks, be used as tactile weapons and can also be made into Vodka! This potato was topped with succulent warm butter and poached lobster. Why get mad over that?? Cocktail comes to me and it's bangin'. Nice notes and I made sure there's a Bourbon Cherry as per Yelper Gail. My steak is cooked to perfection and I loved the side potato with lobster. (Is the lobster angry? I'm so confused) Regardless of the spud emotion, I had an excellent meal to end my short visit to Saratoga Springs. Salt & Char, I thank you for the dining experience at your restaurant.

Ask the Community - Salt & Char

Best chicken ever. Does anyone know a place in NYC or Brooklyn as good? Or does anyone know their recipe?

Salt & Char is a steakhouse primarily, but I did notice they did have a few other options including a chicken dish. Cannot recall the preparation.

And offered the amazing suggestion to get the cheese curds and we are so happy we did they were excellent. Both my husband and I then got the Sirloin steak and that was incredible the steak was cooked to perfection and the leeks and potatoes were amazing as well! Highly recommend this restaurant :)

I was looking for a restaurant to go when we were in Saratoga Springs in this restaurant looked…read morelike it had a really good menu so we decided to go there. I requested to sit at the chef's table because I really do like to see what's going on in the kitchen and our reservation is at 7:15 and we arrived a half hour early and we're able to be sat so that was nice. We were greeted by one of the servers in the restaurant and then shortly after another came by and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water and that our server would be there with us in a second. It took a little bit longer for our server to come by and he took our drink orders. The line chef started to realize that our server was taking quite a while so we asked us what he wanted him to start so that he can relay it to our server when he got around to us, and I thought that was very nice and great that he recognized that we were waiting for quite a while. Our server finally came back with our drinks and asked what we wanted to get started and we told him that they already started our appetizers. He also didn't come back for quite a while after that and he finally asked us what we wanted for dinner and he didn't ask how the food was or anything. He just said OK cool and put in our food order. When we got our actual entrée, I had the New York strip steak and my husband had the scallops and they were very good. We ordered those entrées because the line chef said they were good and we wouldn't be disappointed and we were not. Our server finally came back around after everyone else buster plates and asked if we wanted anything for dessert and we already made up our mind what we wanted. I ordered the coconut rice pudding and my husband ordered the pistachio cheesecake. Both of those were also very good highly recommend them if you have room at the end of your meal. Our server then came back with our bill and just randomly said he took off one of our desserts because of the weight which was nice but he didn't really acknowledge anything else. We thought it was very odd but also we were happy about that. This restaurant was very good and I think the staff is very in tuned to what's going on in the restaurant if something is not as it should and they communicate to others if they need to start food for people or accommodate other people's needs so that's the only reason that I'm giving it a 4 because the server we had wasn't great but the food and everything else was awesome.
