Having brunch here is pleasant! We booked online Friday night for our Saturday brunch. Got there on time but really struggled to find the entrance, even after following all the online instructions posted by others. Had to call the hotel at the end to enter this hidden gem. It was pretty much us in an half-enclosed booth and another table the entire time. Our service lady was awesome, even if it took a while to decide what we want. We ordered some cocktails and mocktails, all are good. I got another glass of espresso martini and had to say nothing beats that, absolutely delightful. Love the fact that they can customize it to be either more creamy or more dark. Four of us got the brunch board to share, and everything on the board made us wow. I got the fig prosciutto sandwich. A friend of mine was eager to try The Coat Room after seeing a promotional photo of one of their cocktails, so I decided to bring a group of coworkers there for dinner during our last visit to Saratoga. The entrance has a hidden speakeasy vibe, and the decor inside perfectly matches that aesthetic. On a Sunday night, we had no trouble getting a table. Our group was seated in a private booth, which provided ample space for us to catch up. The menu was extensive, and there were so many tempting options, but I opted for a dirty martini and the heritage pork ragu. Both were absolutely delectable. Other members of my party ordered the roasted beets, patatas bravas, garlic shrimp, and Caesar salad, and everyone was very pleased with their meals. What a hidden gem in the heart of Saratoga Springs. It was a little bit difficult to find ( thus, the "Speakeasy") because the entrance is tucked away inside of what appears to be an office building. It's a very cozy spot with a nice and relaxing vibe. There are some drinks specials, which were colorful and seasonal. They also had a nice wine list, cocktails, and a variety of beers to choose from. We ordered a number of dishes to be shared, including appetizers, small plates, and main dishes. I took my wife and family to the Coat Room for Mother's Day. the decor was very cool and had a little speakeasy vibe. I had a chicken sandwich on ciabatta which was delicious and came with shoestring fries. My wife had the French toast which was loaded with berries. My son and daughter both had pancakes, one with berries and the other with the cinnamon bun flavoring. All said the food was great. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Blatantly bougie, track bros, overpriced, fee laden, high priced mediocrity. 10 dollar "seating fee" for the privilege of sitting at a table vs bar? Went on a Friday night without reservations, and it was empty with exception for a few people. I would say that there's a benefit to that, except our male waiter hovered over us, practically waiting for us to take the last bite of each item so that he could take our plate. Food came quickly. Husband loved the wedge salad and his Keebler cocktail. My cocktail was great too. But the menu seemed relatively random. Sure, charcuterie, sure, salads, but a very limited and seemingly strange combination of meats and sides. We ordered two salads and a pizza. In addition, the dessert cocktail, something key lime pie-ish, was probably the worst cocktail I've ever had, and was $16. We saw it on many lists and went to try it out, and probably could have enjoyed pizza elsewhere without the pretentious vibe, strange menu, and helicopter wait staff. read more

No signage on the street; you enter an unmarked door and go down a long hall till you see "coat room" on your right. Open and enter a small but classy space with a small dining room on your right with overstuffed banquettes and a bar on your left, where I as a solo diner asked to be seated. The atmosphere is elegant and cozy at the same time. It will be a treat to hang out here on a wintry evening. There's a small lunch menu which included a perfect BLT made with toasted Nightwork sourdough, peppery house cured bacon and seasonal halved cherry tomatoes. Could not have been better. Was served with a cup of potato chips and half a dozen house cured bread and butter pickle slices for $16. The lunch menu ends at 3 and gives way to a much more interesting "lounge menu" of various small bites which is served from 3 to 5 till the dinner menu begins. Steak tartare caught my eye so I predict a quick return visit. The service was more than friendly which I appreciated, feeling a little self conscious coming in on a whim and being seriously underdressed. This is my new favorite place in Saratoga. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here for an after dinner drink just to check it out. The hostess welcomed us in but failed to add we must seat ourselves and wait to be noticed by waitstaff. On our way in the bar was full, yet to find a seat you must first meander through glaring track bros drinking their Miller/Modelo out a can--not a great start. While the name inspires visions of a 20's style speakeasy, the "Coat Room" is too grand a name for this bougie dive. Cocktails are pre-mixed and the entire place feels like a dimly lit closet. Two stars are for effort and design, but the last thing anyone visiting Saratoga wants is a gross reminder that they're still only in the Adirondacks and paying top dollar for pre-mixed drinks. The waitress took a long time to take orders and it was a long time for food/drinks to be delivered then the hostess came and asked us to leave because there was a reservation for the table. We had not unnecessarily lingered, their service was slow causing us to still be there so it was quite rude to ask us to then leave. Many of the bars in this area have an astounding bar program so craft drinks are easy to come by. Our charcuterie was missing 2 items and after telling the bartenders we quickly received them-it was also priced at $35 but when we got the bill it was priced $38.....Drinks took a while because it didn't seem as though they were stocked and ran back and forth a lot. $10 coat check on an already $140 bill for 2 people for drinks and charcuterie is ridiculous when you have zero customers in the place. Bartenders and servers were all super friendly. Delicious dirty martinis and unique cocktails. Massive wine selection. It feels like a little library bar inside! Chicken liver pate was a great starter and they bring complimentary bread with hummus as well. The garganelli is perfect, as was the chicken. After hearing all kinds of buzz about a "speakeasy" in Saratoga we made reservations for dinner at The Coat Room. We arrived a little early for our 6 pm reservation so we could grab a drink prior at the bar, only to find the bar full of people eating dinner at the bar and no where to sit. We moved to the tiny area at the end of bar and ordered 2 glasses of Prosecco which came flat. The Prosecco, though not noted on the wine list was "Brut" and exceedingly dry. I've come to expect Prosecco to be sweet unless it is stated otherwise. Anyway- we moved into the dining room and ordered the roasted carrots which came with a round of herbed butter on top that you would expect to melt- it did not- because the carrots were cold. Sent them back and 10 minutes later they came back. They tasted ok but were very small, and a little over roasted for my liking. Next we ordered the Salmon Rillettes which was delicious but exceedingly small for $16. The shareable salmon plate a Brasserie Benelux for $21 across the street immediately came to mind which is easily 5x larger (and better). After that we were kinda done. The Coat Room doesn't live up to the hype by any stretch of the imagination. It is decidedly not a speakeasy. It's a small restaurant with a bar. And honestly, the place comes across cheap- but with expensive drinks, expensive food, small portions, and zero personality. The table we sat at was stained, the paint on the walls was peeling/chipped and the place has only been open for 2-3 months. I get what they were trying for, but they missed badly. We visited this restaurant in mid July with the beginning of track season. It is a novel arrangement where the restaurant is discreetly hidden behind a door in a building which says "Coat Room". Well, we came for the drinks and ended up having a pizza which was good. The manager was nice. We spoke afterwards and offered compliments. Then we read about a $10 per person seating fee. My wife and I were glad we avoided such a fee eating at the bar not realizing it was a new fee. We returned for drinks and were told the seating fee was for the bar or dining tables. This fee is absolutely ridiculous. We will never frequent this place again. To have to pay $20 just to sit at the bar when your entire bill if you have just one drink and a soda between two people might not even come to that is disturbing. The restaurant business is not easy. However, such a fee is a stupid way to try and keep a business afloat. If your business plan cannot work with such an arrangement then maybe it should not exist. Sadly, my wife and I will never frequent it again as long as this seating fee exists. If your business is suffering this much that you need such a fee to stay afloat it may not have long anyway. Good luck, but it will be without our patronage. And all the friends I had been telling to patronize this establishment will now be discouraged from doing so. read more
