I was in the Glendale area to catch a concert at he Alex Theater and decided to have dinner Bourbon before the show. The restaurant has many attractive features such as its upscale atmosphere and excellent customer service. The appetizers and drinks were however just okay in my opinion as you'd expect slightly better for a restaurant of this caliber. I ordered a ceasar salad with halibut and mushrooms as my entree. The salad wasn't exceptional by any means as the quality of presentation and taste were just average. Things got much better with the main course as the halibut was quite good, but the mushrooms were a bit overbuttered. I had a couple of cocktails(fig and olive & Lindy hop) and I found them to be rather unspectacular. I've certainly have had better cocktails elsewhere in terms of preparation. So overall, not too bad. I'd stick with the meat and fish at this place and focus on enjoying the main course.The appetizers, drinks, and salad were a bit of a letdown. read more

Very underwhelming overall. While the waiter was nice, that's really the only positive that I can speak to. The hostess was not at her station so we walked to the left to ask to be assisted. She literally walked right past us and went to her station without even saying "hello, I can help you over here". She passed us by as if we were unimportant customers to her. I purchased a TravelZoo voucher for Bourbon Steak, so I made an online reservation for my friend's birthday dinner. Process was smooth - I was able to leave a note stating what we were celebrating and was even able to adjust the time of our reservation without any issue! We arrived a little earlier than our reservation time, but we were able to be seated right away. They presented our table with a birthday card for my friend, and he was instantly greeted! The whole experience and staff were amazing and kind. We had the diver scallop appetizer and black truffle macaroni and three cheese to share. Both were so delicious! The scallops were cooked perfectly, and the noodle and uni were great accompaniments to the scallop. The mac and cheese was tasty without being too rich. The complimentary trio of duck fat fries were a good touch as well! I had the Mediterranean branzino, as recommended to me, along with a Postcard from Amelia. Went during restaurant week, and mind you we weren't exactly hungry, but we wanted to try the place out after walking around the Americana. We were shamed for sharing the Dine LA menu and ordering an appetizer. She tried saying oh well ur not supposed to share that menu since it's at a special price, but I'll go ahead and bring u an extra plate. If that's the case then you should state that in the menu. And it's just tacky, so what are you going to have a minimum cost per person? Not like we spent less than $100 with drinks. I got the appetizer because I wasn't all that hungry, and if I want to grab some of my fiancé's food, that is my business. Bourbon steak has always been a terrific restaurant in Glendale, I have enjoyed everything from enjoying a top end steak and fresh seafood platter, to noshing on a delicious burger and a craft cocktail in the clubby bar. So when COVID changed the rules I was grateful that Bourbon was modifying their takeout approach and offering up a delicious takeout menu that I could enjoy from home. Not only is the food terrific but the service and staff really make things personal and are extremely attentive. Throughout 2020 Bourbon Steak was definitely a high point for me, and when I learned there was a new burger concept I couldn't wait to try it. I ended up trying two burgers from the new creative menu and two of the artisan fries. Here are my thoughts. The burgers, prime dry aged steak burger and the black truffle steak burger are chef inspired perfectly cooked pieces of art. Each burger was juicy high end meat that has a terrific burst of umami and the combination of flavors is both sophisticated and just plain yummy. The fries are not just an uninteresting side. Both fries choices are crunchy and fresh, one fried in duck fat (who doesn't love that?) with three dipping choices, honey smoke ketchup, ketchup with pickle and truffle aioli. And I have saved the best for last, the fries with creme fraiche and cavier dip. Perfectly balanced salt, crunch and a clever take on a traditional caviar presentation. Once we arrived at the restaurant we gave them our name and within a few minutes we had our meal kit ready. The package and presentation was done very well and even came with a personalized note and instructions how to prepare. All the steak cuts were of high quality and the sides as well. I came here for dinner with a friend over the weekend. Sadly, I wasn't overly impressed by the meal. Park at the Americana, they validate parking at the hostess stand. The restaurant is on Brand Blvd next to Din Tai Fung. Large space inside, plenty of seating, tables and some semi-circle booths. We were seated in a booth which was comfortable. Intimate and romantic, feels like a very upscale restaurant inside. We ordered a few things and split them: Duck Spring Rolls, the special (it was like a Lobster/Scallop pasta plate), Rib Eye Steak, and a side of brussel sprouts. Instead of complimentary bread, they bring you three little canisters with three types of fries. Each fry is seasoned differently and has a different dipping sauce. I love fries (#friesbeforeguys) so these were good, and we snacked on these throughout the meal. The Spring Rolls were your typical Spring Rolls except wrapped with an outside piece of lettuce. They were okay but not super flavorful and I probably wouldn't order again. Wasn't really expecting this because duck can be so flavorful. The Special was good and packed more flavor because of the lobster but there were maybe 4 pieces of pasta in the dish so it clearly is meant to be more of an appetizer. The steak was probably the most disappointing which is such a letdown since that was our main course/it's a steakhouse. I rarely eat steak, but when I do, I want it to be juicy, melt in my mouth, and I want it to be so flavorful that I look forward to every single bite. It tasted like it wasn't seasoned properly. I was honestly tempted to ask for salt. This was how I felt of the entire meal though... pretty lackluster in terms of flavor. The brussel sprouts were not the worst I've had but certainly not the best. Apart from the food, the waitress was really friendly and professional. She checked in on us a few times throughout the meal and made sure we were happy with our cocktails. My friend thought she was super cute too, so there's that. My friends and I were at the Americana in search of a place to have dinner for 7 on a Saturday night.. of course many places were booked and we'd have to wait for an opening for a group of our size. I called Bourbon Steak and the welcomed us over and said they would take us right away. We walked over and were immediately greeted by the hostess who took us to nice dining room with a long table suitable for our party. They also accommodated a nice space for a baby stroller with no problem at all. We ordered drinks, toasted and enjoyed the beautiful ambiance of the dining room. We were presented with a trio of duck fat fries as a complimentary appetizer with different dipping sauces for tasting. They were a good starter and the guys began fighting over sauce so that tells you how good it was! After some time our dinners arrived and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I shared the porterhouse steak with 2 other friends along with sides of creamed spinach and truffle mac & cheese. We had plenty of food to share between us. The restaurant makes special toffee chocolates every single day. They only make so many, enough for the dinner guests they plan to have each evening. They give it to you after your are done with your meal. Let me tell you... these chocolates are something so heavenly! I have never had anything like it. The Manager/Maitre'de (I forgot her name) came over to check on us to make sure we were satisfied with our meal. We talked with her for some time and she was so pleasant. We convinced her to give us some more of those toffee chocolates and she happily obliged us with a few extras. We used to frequent the one in Washington, DC often, so we thought we would finally check out the one here in Los Angeles. Our waiter, Michael, was fantastic throughout the meal. Always attentive whenever we needed something and very helpful. Our meal was great! The salads are delicious (can a salad be delicious?) but very large, so if you're getting multiple courses, you could definitely share one between two people. We each had steak...filet and ny strip and both were cooked exactly as we wanted and very flavorful, as were the accompanying sauces. The truffle mac and cheese was good, but it wasn't the best one I've ever had. One suggestion I would like to make is that they adopt the rolls the DC Bourbon Steak has. They have the most amazing truffle butter rolls that are like cinnabons in appearance, but with truffle butter baked inside instead of sugary goodness. They are to die for, and I was slightly disappointed that this Bourbon Steak doesn't have them. :( They had regular rolls with truffle butter, but definitely not even close to the same as the DC one. Overall it was a great meal and we will definitely be back. One nice perk is they offer free valet parking right in front. read more

Came here with the family for Mother's Day brunch and the experience was decidedly underwhelming. It felt like the place was trying too hard, like a newly opened restaurant running their first holiday meal service. Pacing was off--over half an hour lapsed between our appetizers and main course. Not the seamless service I would have expected from a Michael Mina establishment. The design and space are absolutely gorgeous and high end. The food was all-around tasty but not anything to write home about. Tuna tartare was good, Lobster Benedict was well-executed (Bernaise sauce not too heavy), the ricotta doughnuts would have been more enjoyable if not completely cold. Everyone we came in contact with was full of smiles, our original server was a bit high energy and without a word from us he was swapped for a calmer, alternate server. The gift of french fries and bread, good. The salad with watermelon radishes, delightfully fresh and light. We tried the fillet which was just OK for us, as were the brussels sprouts--the mashed potatoes however were wonderfully smooth and buttery. The food here is delicious and well worth the buck! Considering it's in Americana, this restaurant is one of the few restaurants that is worth the pricey menu items! The steaks is cooked to perfection and staffs are all so professional and friendly. Such a difference from Frida Mexican restaurant right down the street also located in Americana. Really really really disappointed with our dinner. Let me start by saying that it was Thanksgiving, and I very much appreciate the staff for being there, being cheery, and providing excellent service on an evening better spent with family. So I will forgive the very slow cocktail ordering and delivery issue. The cocktails were delicious. Ok... I was excited to be going to steak house. Haven't been to one in years. Although the Thanksgiving menu didn't include a Rib-Eye, which I had been craving, there were other good choices. The appetizers were nice. I had the slightly under-seasoned soup, which was otherwise delicious. My girlfriend had the Cesar, which she enjoyed, and her mom had the pears, which was an oddly large dish, but also good. The deserts were pretty good. We had one of each. The cheesecake had an odd tree-like flavor, which I think was intentional, but I wasn't a fan. High quality though. The failure came with the entrees. I had the strip steak. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and very well seasoned, but the quality of the steak was VERY poor. I even had to spit one bite into my napkin, as I couldn't get through it enough to swallow it. Upsetting. The whole cut was tough. About 1/3 was edible, but not good. My girlfriend had the prime rib, which looked good, and the bite I had was nice. Her mother had the short rib, which I tried and was appalled by. My bite was simply tough fat, which should never be found in short rib. Fat, sure, but edible and soft. Nothing about the dish was soft. Just a hard, formed, albeit well-flavored, piece of meat and fat. The Mac-n-Cheese was ok. The creamed spinach was severely under-seasoned. Needless to say, this was an extremely disappointing dinner for three. Which, by the way, cost over $500. Obscene. I spent about the same for 3 in New Orleans, at one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. More food. More cocktails. More wine. Much tastier. I don't mind spending the money. The service was incredible, from being seated by the host, to our server giving us the best recommendations! We ended up going with the Black Truffle Manicotti for a starter (amazing!), then we went with the Flat Iron and Filet Mignon with Broccolini and Whipped Potatoes as sides. What a waste of money, at least if your ordering a burger, I can honestly say that it was the Worst burger I've ever had. I couldn't even eat a third of it it was so nasty. The burger patty was over seasoned and tasted like freezer burnt meat, bacon was burnt like charcoal and the cheese sauce so disgusting, I think it was made with Cheese Whiz.if I ever go back I'll stay away from the bar menu. I wouldn't feed that trash to my dog. For a four star restaurant they should be ashamed for serving such slop.
