I just came back from a month in Australia and was looking for a spot in LA to get authentic Aussie coffee, and this place popped up in my search. It's everything you'd want and expect from a Melbourne-style breakfast spot, and I am here for it. Service was fast, coffee was hot and strong, and vibes were on point. One of my favorite spots! Food: 5/5 Drinks: 5/5 Service: 5/5 I have no bad things to say about this place. This cafe is kind of tucked away in a shady spot. I've only been during the day but I can always find a spot to sit down and the volume level is nice. I can always find a place to park as well. The food is delicious, I highly recommend the tuna toast. They STACKED the tuna on top and the pickled onions paired so perfectly. The bread was heavenly as well. I can always count on their cappucinos to be nice and foamy and the milk to not be burnt. One day I came in and there was only one pastry left - a chocolate donut. I'm not a donut person but the woman helping me recommended it. I'm so grateful she did because it still stands as one of my favorite pastries ever. Finally got to try breakfast at this place and I'm glad to say that I will be a frequent visitor! Little Ripper is a neighborhood joint on Verdugo that has both excellent coffee and a great breakfast menu that offers small and regular sized plates. The ambience in the cafe is absolutely charming; they play really soft and mellow music and the inside is both familiar and vintage at the same time. Alot of their interior design has references to Australia, although I am not too sure as to what the connection is. I had the good morning plate with a house drip coffee and both were great! You have to pay up front and then grab a seat wherever; they serve you the food once its ready. Everyone was really friendly, almost like I was being welcomed into the neighborhood. Will have to come back at night, as I have passed by yesterday and the patio looked cute and romantic. Definitely give this place a go when you get the chance! read more

Its tucked in a quiet neighborhood off the 2. There's street parking but signs say it's only for an hour. The place is cozy and great for reading/chatting. There's no wifi so I used mobile hotspot for a little bit to get some work done. The drinks were great and came out at a reasonable time. I wasn't super hungry and got a classic Jaffle which was nice and warm - nothing fancy which I appreciated. I liked the vibes with family and friends coming and going. The wait for a table outside can be annoying, bc hipsters are too self-involved to give a damn about vacating their table, even when they see a bunch of people waiting. Came here for brunch with some friends on a Saturday around 11am. The space had a cozy vibe inside, and the patio offered plenty of seating with a dog-friendly atmosphere. You order at the counter, and the staff brings your food and drinks right to your table. It did take a while for the food to come out, but we were enjoying the company, so it wasn't a huge deal. While the prices felt a bit on the higher side, the overall experience was pleasant. My breakfast sandwich was tasty, though I would've loved a side to go with it. We sat at the bar which had some awkward bar stools (tightly fit and a little hard to move), but other than that, no complaints! I originally was disappointed when the dish I wanted, the Baby Bear's Porridge, was out of stock, so I ordered the egg avo sandwich. Eating it was good, yet standard. The eggs and brioche bun rocked. While I was eating, the chef came up and gave me a teeny bowl of the porridge on the house because he overheard I was sad to miss out on it!! It was so sweet and so, so, so delicious. I stumbled on this place on a Sunday morning and I'm very thankful I have because just by looking, it was a full house on their outdoor patio and on the inside which either means they're popular or their food is really good! Service was spectacular; staff was very kind in explaining things and any recommendations on their food or snack of choice. I got their Egg N Avo Sanga and I'm not gonna lie, the food was so delicious I forgot to take a picture before eating haha. I asked if they had any sauces and I got their homemade hot sauce and it was perfect with the sandwich I got! I wanted some of their pastries but unfortunately they were all sold out but as a replacement, they recommended the Nutty Nana Jaffle. Drinks: I had the Matcha lemonade and I liked it, it was very tart, not sure if it was on purpose or not but unless you prefer things very sour I would not recommend. My sister had the chai and thought it was bland. Food: I had the classic jaffle and it was okay, don't know what I was expecting but for $10 the Kraft singles were a little surprising. My sister got the nutty nana and enjoyed it. The staff is nice. Service can be a little slow. The café itself is very cute and nicely decorated. Little Ripper is a cozy spot for breakfast and brunch. I took my Aussie friend here for his bday breakfast, so he could get fairy bread. Order at the counter and sit where you like. We were lucky to get the corner booth. The seating and decor is very warm and inviting. But it's a limited and simple menu. And our food took a really long time to come out though, and they weren't overly busy. We ordered what I think of as simple dishes...classic jaffles; basically toasted cheese and tomato paninis, and the fairy bread (white bread, buttered with sprinkles ‍...no flavour, per se) The latte and coffee were good. And the jaffles were fine, but waiting over 45 minutes for 2 toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches (which then proceed to burn your tongues) is a big part of why they don't get more stars from me. I'd actually give it 3.5, if half stars were an option, as 3 seems too few but 4 seems too many. I assume someone forgot to make them, or maybe the machine wasn't working, but would have been nice for someone to come and say why it is taking so long. A good place to get a coffee and pastry, and send a few work emails. Perhaps their dinner service is better? Cute spot, and if I lived in the immediate area, I'd perhaps go again. (And for any local Aussie that has a Vegemite hankering...you can add it to pretty much anything on the menu!) read more

Came to try this place out but it is always hard to find parking. It is a busy place as the indoor and outdoor seating was full when I arrived. The cashier was a helpful in answering any questions. After my order was placed I waited 10-15 minutes for 2 sandwiches. It is a bit pricey for a smaller sized sandwich. Nutty Nana Jaffle- 7/10 Needed a bit more banana as I had 2 bites with banana. The Nutella does over power the banana taste. Classic Jaffle add bacon- 7/10 Didn't realize until after that adding bacon was an additional $5. They did just place a piece of bacon which was halved for my sandwich. It was more like a grilled cheese with a shred of tomato and a 1/2 slice of bacon. The busboy would stare at my table every time he passed by which was a bit uncomfortable (about 5 times). He also made the remaining guests and myself feel rushed out. This started at 1:50pm, which their Sunday hours do say 3pm. He started to close the indoor seating, which included flipping the chairs onto the table. My table as well as another table felt rushed to eat and leave. We all left at 2:15pm, as we exited I did see that all the tables were still full on their patio. The early clean up is a bit discouraging for any new sales that could have happened in the last hour of business. For future it might be best to give the guests time to enjoy their food before you start flipping chairs and spraying cleaner. read more

Had dinner here last night with the wife. I've lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and have watched many businesses come and go from this location. We badly needed a good restaurant in this neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the restaurant is. We had the trout dip and chips, Caesar salad, and a tin of Portuguese mussels. Everything was very good. The "tin menu" is unique. It's served with focaccia, butter and pickled peppers. I washed it down with a couple glasses of wine. Service was great. Nice ambiance. I definitely loved the indoor space! Based on old photos it seems like they've definitely did some renovations. However, I'm not sure if I'm quite sold on their coffee. They didn't have a menu except for the simple menu hung up on the wall. So the worker explained in some detail the different in-house syrups that are made as they don't have traditional ones such as vanilla syrup. Unfortunately, my coffee tasted very bitter especially with the added orange peel. I don't prefer a citrusy flavor to my coffee and I probably wouldn't have ordered that and stuck with a regular latte. They also didn't have any food items available, and it was explained that they'd have a full working kitchen as of today. So maybe I'd go back to try some of their food items. read more
