This establishment is one of the oldest in Glendale. It has a Polynesian theme and decor. They have a bar but in all honesty it's Diner food. I do not recommend the food at this establishment. There were 4 of us. We ordered 4 different entrees and several appetizers and everything was mediocre at best. The baked potato wasn't even baked well. See the pictures posted. The service was good but not the food.

Was finally able to check out this place in Glendale. There is parking around the back near Porto's. I went with a group of 4 on a Friday night and were able to get a table right away. The special that night was the pot roast and it was so good. They also give you bread and a soup or a salad.

The tiki vibe is great! All the staff were super friendly, and make sure you get there early for the prime rib! We got there too late, but the steaks were still fire. Thanks Rueben for taking care of us and being so nice

Damon is one of my families favorite restaurants that we've been going to for decades. The food is absolutely delicious especially if you come on weekends and can get the prime rib. Service is super friendly and makes the house salad table side. The ambience is really fun and they have a large fish tank which my baby nephew is always obsessed with drinks are good and everything is well priced for the portion sizes. Please give this place a shot if you haven't already!

Food was good. Especially the steak. The salad has been the same for over 50 years. The bread could use more cheese. Love the hostesses and moat waiters are nice. It can be a bit loud. The hardest part is the sewer system i could smell as we walked in the door. It is apparently a problem for the whole block. The city or all the businesses need to change out the main line. I bet it hasnt been changed since they switched to this location when I was a child. I am 66.. but not a good odor for a fancy restaurant nor Porto's next door. The owner seriously needs to get the city plumber to fix it properly. Love Bruce the puffer fish.

We met up with family for a post-Christmas dinner and gift exchange. Easy reservation and we were seated at a large circular table which was perfect for our party of 7. It's been about 15 years since we'd been here and I love the familiarity and nostalgic ambiance this spot provides. The drinks, entrees, twice baked potatoes, and delicious bread were as good as ever!

Had a very bad experience with a lousy waitress on my Birthday, going on two years ago. We thought we'd give the place another try, seeing how we Use to really like this place, for 30 years as a matter of fact. Well who saunters up to our table but the same miserable woman! Asked if we wanted cocktails, to which we replied no, we never saw her again, she knew us, so we left. I hate losing a place we liked due to a bad employee.

It's Friday nite and I was invited to Jack's 50th They picked one of their favorite spots! I haven't been to Damon's in ages! After all these years, it still looks the same! To me, pure nostalgia with the old school Polynesian tiki style vibe! Always delicious drinks! Loved my blue Hawaiian and rounds of old fashions were dished out. Always a wonderful spot with exceptional service! We ordered delicious appetizers: calamari, coconut shrimp, potato skins, and the famous garlic bread! Tbh, I've never been a fan of garlic bread, but I'll never turn Damon's down!! It's just soft, fluffy, with the not so over-powerful garlic flavor! It's pure goodness! Damon's is a place where memories are made! One of my forgotten favorites! I'll be back again soon

It's ok. They're mostly known for their prime rib, which was very mediocre. Best thing we had was their cheesy garlic bread (don't remember the name).

This place is such a great vibe! Any restaurant that has been around since 1937 can't be bad. I haven't been here in a long time but it did not disappoint! Ruben our server was so attentive and really funny!! The food and service was amazing! The place was totally packed!! My prime rib was cooked to perfection!! The prices are so reasonable! Plus with most dinners you get a salad and a side! Highly recommend it!!

I LOVE the ambiance of this established restaurant. I look forward to coming here. I had steak which was delicious. I had a mixture of their two signature drinks that was so sweet and tropical flavored. The side salad was delicious. Our dessert brownie was so so good !!!!

Likely best to get a reservation. Seemsblike this place get fulled easily. The atmosphere is quite chill with fun tiki decor and low lighting. Wasn't too loud inside, at least early on. The service was mostly good. Our server was nice and friendly. Although it took some time to get our check even when the place wasn't totally filled up yet. The food was fairly good. I got the platter which could definitely be shared with another. The mac and cheese is not bad considering most bbq/steak places don't have good ones. The garlic bread was the highlight! The starter soup was good. This place is great for large group of friends and family.

Do you need reservations on a Thursday night?

We always make reservations so we don't have to wait to be seated. But u can certainly walk in. Week days are not as busy. You can always find a good seat by the bar and have a dink if there is waiting.

I've been going to them more and more, and The Lucky Tiki was one I definitely had to try out. First off, I have to praise 1933 group because I have loved every single bar they have revitalized and this one is no different. In keeping with their MO, The Lucky Tiki is a speakeasy with a vintage vibe. I won't give away how to get in but let's just say, it's near the front of Highland Park Bowl. My husband and I didn't have a reservation, but we were able to put our name in and got seated about an hour or so later. I was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! It's just floor to ceiling decorated with everything tiki. So many fun details and even interactive elements that turn on when a particular drink was ordered. That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food. Was the perfect spot for a lively date night!

It was FANTASTIC. Our server, Isaiah, was absolutely amazing and on top of things, refilling our water before we even hit half glass. Not to mention his energy and vibe was so welcoming and fun. We got the PuPu platter for two, came out within minutes, I could spend the rest of my life eating that alone. Isaiah recommended his favorite sauces, Garlic Chive and Chipotle Citrus, they were amazing. We got the shrimp and lobster roll, I officially entered heaven. The Isles of Club sandwich was the finishing touch that had me laughing from joy. Near the end of our dining we meant Max, another server, who is absolutely fantastic, brought us everything we needed, boxes, sauce containers, bags, to-go dessert. The front of the building is a little vaguely marked, and the entrance has speakeasy vibes, which was a surprise. Upon walking in the front door, there is some tiki décor and a small counter in the rear. I remember thinking to myself "what the heck, this is it?". I checked in at the host stand on the left, and was handed me a boarding pass. She then led us through a hidden door behind what looked like a shipping crate. We were now in the real Broken Compass. The interior is a good size. The two-sided bar seats around a dozen. There is a lounge side of the bar that has two large booths along the wall, and another area with comfortable looking couches and lounge chairs. The main dining room has some tiki hut booths, and two sections of tables with half booth and half chair. The décor is pretty extensive with a good mix of pirate, nautical, and tiki themes. There is a lot of bamboo, thatch, rope, cargo netting, skulls and skeletons, port holes, octopus tentacles, jellyfish, tiki lights, and more. The ceiling is dark with various nautical and pirate markings, and even tied up ship sails overhead. The tiki hut booths have the parrots from the enchanted tiki room above them. Even the two restrooms are nautical themed, with beach and marine sounds playing. There is a lot of great décor to look at. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday, so it wasn't very busy yet. By the time we left a few hours later, it was starting to get busy. We decided to sit at the bar. We started out with the buffalo cauliflower ($14) for an afternoon snack. The serving size was generous, and the buffalo sauce had a good tang. It was served with some sauces, and was surprisingly filling. A nice feature of the cocktail menu is that each drink displays one to three compass stars to indicate the strength of the drink. Their cocktails use a great variety of liquors including ones you don't often see. Many of the ingredients are made in-house. I started out with Chupacabra's Vacation (Demerara Rum, Jamacian Rum, Pomegranate Reduction, Cinnamon, Lime Juice, Bitters, two-star boozy rank, $17). It is served with a flaming lime on top and a little fire show. It was balanced with a light booziness, some light pomegranate flavor, and a cinnamon sprinkle on top. She started out with the Bittersweet Paradise (Jamacian Rum, White Rum, Campari, Passionfruit Syrup, Lemon, Lime, Pineapple, two-star boozy rank, $18). It didn't drink boozy at all, and was passion fruit forward, with light bitterness. My second cocktail was the Bermuda Dune Buggy (Gin, Overproof Rum, Kumquat Liqueur, Cassis, Orange, Lime, Bitters, two-star boozy rank, $18). It had a very unique garnish of a Chartreuse infused gummy which was delicious. The drink was nicely balanced, and didn't really drink boozy even with overproof rum in it. They have a rotating monthly cocktail and she tried the Tropic Like It's Hot (Coconut Washed Lemongrass Infused Rum, Mango, Lemon, Coconut Water, Amaro, $17) which was created by one of our bartenders Daniel. It was served in a Spam can and was light and refreshing with a nice pop of fruit at the start, and a very nice coconut flavor. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and had great conversation with our bartenders Daniel and Monica. They also provided excellent service. Broken Compass supports payment with the InKind app which gives you 20% back (10% on Friday and Saturday) in InKind cash. We had a really great time here, and the drinks, food, décor, and atmosphere were excellent. I purchased a Hork (Horse-shaRK) mug for $50 to bring home as a souvenir. We would definitely return again when in the area.

There aren't many tables or bar seats. I've heard the line is frequently out the door, and if you want seating it's best to line up before they open. They do not take reservations. We came in on a whim around 9PM on a Friday night. The bar was packed, but thankfully there wasn't a line out the door. After heading in we found a sliver of standing room in a corner to order a couple drinks. After about twenty minutes a couple at the bar left and we were able to snag some chairs. The atmosphere and ambience is decent. There are neat decorations and trinkets everywhere. The music was a playlist of random music which isn't really my thing. There were two bartenders working who were friendly and prompt. The price point is fine around $15 per drink. I was very underwhelmed by their rum and cocktail program, though. I suppose given the history and hype of the bar I was expecting much more. They don't use fresh juices, everything is from bottles and cans (think Tropicana), their garnishes are all the same and taste a little off (maybe they're assembled way ahead of time and taste old?), and their rum selection is alright depending on the cocktail you order, but can also be lackluster, too. Overall, it was cool to finally check out Tiki Ti, but it was a one-and-done for me.

Echoing what everyone else has been saying - the service is SO slow. It was about 45 minutes before we were able to order our second drink and our water glasses were empty. They have so many runners bringing the drinks out but only a few servers and, from the looks of it, one bartender (on a Saturday night - what?!). The server was saying he was trying to find a manager to help out but they were nowhere to be found. Clearly management is fine with these service times since they're still making $$$. The drinks were delicious, and I loved that there were heaters on the patio (though they did get very hot at times). Our server was so kind and brought us a celebratory drink. I do wish there were more explanations with the beverages, especially for the Paid Vacation as most people will not realize you're supposed to bite into the buzz button for the tingly sensation. I would come back, but need some time for my wallet to recover first, haha!

It's always a good time here - we've come for trivia night once, group hang outs, etc. They have an upstairs area for larger groups but make sure you call ahead to let them know! Recently we came for lunch on Friday and sat at the bar. Lots of selection for food and drinks. Our bartender/waitress was super attentive and nice. The utensil holder has seasonal specials so don't forget to take a look at those. My partner got the kimchi truffle smash burger w fries and I got the chicken wonton salad. They both came in a timely manner and were filling. My chicken was nice and tender and had a good amount of flavor. We also really liked their beer selection. People next to us ordered cocktails and they all looked divine. We'll definitely be coming back!

Our two servers were fantastic! It was fun talking custom cocktails with one, and food with the other. Both servers, as well as food runners, were ON IT! Very friendly, attentive to each table, and efficient. Our drinks were delicious! The spirits on their shelves are high quality, so drinks were top notch. The bartenders definitely make well balanced, delicious concoctions. And then our food came: Mmm! So many vibrant flavors! Fresh, popping zings of ginger and garlic on the noods, delectable brisket with brightness from the red onion and cilantro wrapped in a comfort blanket of bao, break a sweet sweat from chilis on the spicy tofu noodles, green, bright, and lip smacking umami on the brussels, and bbq perfection on the meat. Everything was taste-bud pleasing in a unique and unexpected ways. Plenary of fans here for the game! Happy Hour after workers, families - everyone welcome. Room at the bar, tables for 2, 4, or 6 - lucky us again - to sit along the large open wall-window that let in the evening breeze. If you want a tiki style cozier vibe, head upstairs to the lift area. Parking is a commodity, and there's no lot here. Street parking in front or on residential side streets. All around great experience! If I were a local, this would definitely be on high rotation!

It set the tone of low-key and chill. The music was more background noise which I liked. There's also a good amount of seating. We ordered the first round of drinks. Our bartender was nice. He didn't talk much. We sat at a round booth. We were able to talk without having to yell. This lounge is a place you can sit unwind, talk, and have a beer. There's a lot of decorations to look. The people that we saw that night were also chill. Nobody was overly loud. A good variety of people too; Straight, gay, black, Hispanic, white. I felt comfortable. We had a second round before we called it a night. Great place.
