Not bad by any means but probably my least favorite meal while on a quick trip through Oxford. It was a quiet Saturday night, students weren't around as it was summer and locals must have called it a night due to a quick pop up storm that was there then done. Service was a bit lacking--while our server wasn't rude, he was dismissive and inattentive. However, we noticed him talking to and checking on other tables quite well and we realized our casual dress after a day on the town must have prompted him to think we weren't the tipping kind (we tipped well regardless). Anyway, how was the food? Pros--the cocktails are super solid. I recommend the pomegranate vodka cocktail and the Mississippi Mule for sure. The crawdad tail appetizer was really good too. The entrees though--just okay. Good, but not great. I had the salmon BLT and all the ingredients were pretty good though the salmon could have had a bit more flavor and the bread could have been better. My wife had a po'boy but they skimped on the sauce and used the wrong kind of bread for a po boy which resulted in a plate full of shrimp spilling out of the bread instead of holding together like a sandwich. But, they were both good if a bit pricey for what they were. Also--it was a nice night to dine on the terrace but for some reason you can only order appetizers outside so we dined in. read more

Food is #1, even over service & ambience, but this was a "miss". The grilled cheese with white cheddar was not the hot, melty goodness I hoped with the inside not hot enough. The bread was good, perfectly griddled. The tomato basil soup was flavorful & piping hot but the fried cheese curd left a greasy mouth feel, without contributing anything to the dish. A side of whole grilled okra needed a bit more seasoning. The other entree of Red Snapper was a bitter disappointment after many recommendations for the fish dishes. It was a sizable portion of golden brown fish atop a bed of what appeared to be INSTANT rice - sticky clumps, when I would have expected long grain. I could not cut the coating on the fish with a fork. It was heavy & tough, and oily. The accompanying green onion hush puppies were small, overcooked little nuggets that were greasy, with almost no 'middle' and certainly no evidence of the green onion in the menu description. I use green onion in the ones I make at home so I would know. And mine are crispy & light, properly fried in the hottest oil, turned once! With a fluffy, flavorful inside. Not these - I had one bite and left them on the plate with the rice. I got a take out for the fish. I'll remove the breading and use the fish for a chowder. read more

Atmosphere and food was delicious. We were a walk in Large party. We had the private room and everything was delicious

Came here on a busy football weekend. It was around 7:30, so I think we missed the majority of the crowd. The person in front of us was just about to be seated and had been waiting for 3 hours. We were given an estimated wait time of 1 hour, but thankfully only waited for 30 minutes. The fried crawfish tails we got as an appetizer were delicious - the sweet chili dipping sauce was the perfect compliment to them. We also got the shrimp and grits and the shrimp poboy. Both were delicious, and the shrimp was overflowing on the poboy. I particularly liked the shrimp and grits because it was completely different than what I was expecting, and definitely unique compared to other variations of it that I've had before (which, admittedly, is not a lot). There were lots of veggies and the flavor was delicious. Even though they were almost completely packed, our food came out within a decent amount of time. I would be prepared to not really have any intimate type of conversations, since it was pretty loud inside. Overall, I would definitely suggest Boure! read more

We like Boure, but the upstairs bar needs to up their game. I asked for a pineapple High Noon with the first bartender and was told they were out, so I took what they had. Different bartender the next time and I requested pineapple high noon again and he went to the back and brought out a four pack and gave me one. We were outside on the patio and requested a menu but the waiter never came back to take the order, and never asked if we wanted to order a drink. So no problem we just went inside and got them.We will go back, just my observations while there this time. read more

Upscale southern cuisine done right. Our server Nick suggested a great drink in the 'Lane Train', it was so good I ordered a second. We started with popcorn shrimp and for entrees had pan fried hamburger steak and pasta jambalaya. Everything was well prepared and had the right amount of spice in the jambalaya. Tonight (11/30) was our first night dining at Bouré. We decided this would be a nice Tuesday evening meal, and would offer us a chance to treat our friend to an evening out. Upon entering, we were seated right away. The hostess led us to a corner booth at the back of the restaurant positioned just below a television. We sat for 15 minutes waiting for a server to greet us. Eventually, a member of our party went yo the hostess stand to let someone know that we were ready to order. When the server (Drake) finally came to the table, he apologized for not greeting us sooner. He stated he wasn't aware that we were his table. This did not make us feel welcomed. His service over the course of them meal felt obligatory, as if we were a burden to deal with. Once we place our order, we waited over an hour for our food. There were two additional tables in our section that were seated after us. One of the tables order the exact same food as our table. They, along with the additional table, were served ahead of us. Frustrated and disappointed, we took advantage of the wait time to contemplate other restaurants in the area. Eventually, Drake passed by the table and we were able to get an ETA. Drake stated he was waiting on "one thing". A few minutes later he returns with our three meals. Two of the three meals were obviously cold and unappealing. The meals totaled $100+ not including tips, desserts, or drinks. We have reached out to management and will update this review when they respond. P.S. The Spinach and Artichoke appetizer was to die for! Hamburger Steak Spinach and Artichoke Grilled Salmon Pasta Jambalaya UPDATE: 12/12/21 We still have not heard from management or anyone at the restaurant. We came here, because the restaurant next door didn't have enough menu variety to choose from and everything seemed way overpriced. But any excitement I gained by anticipating a Cajun meal was dashed by poor service and food execution;with a hefty price tag as well. I've been here 3 times and I'm from New Orleans and let me say this food is a disgrace to the tradition and culture of New Orleans cuisine. Personally the pasta jambalaya was not good, cold, and had small increments of seafood that was just not appetizing. The shrimp and grits were very disappointing. They tried to do to much and ruined the dish. I have never seen fried grits and corn on my shrimp and grits. There was so many flavors and colors on the plate that it just hurt the dish and made it un appetizing. Now onto the ambiance. The restaurant was way too bright for me and my dates liking. The candles were not lit. It felt as thought it was mid day and we were eating lunch there. All in all my experiences at boure have been severely below par and I hope people will take this into consideration when eating here. read more

Enjoyed a delicious creole dinner with three other couples while attending a football game. It was apparent they could handle larger crowds. We were seated and served quickly despite the crowd. Don't let a long line turn you away. It is housed in an old drug store with two floors including outside dining. The bar had an extensive wine /beer/specialty drink menu offering and happy hour specials. We had a great array of dishes including the gumbo, shrimp and grits, pasta jambalaya, Classic burger and I had Boure' salad with blackened shrimp. The salad was very tasty and the shrimp was prepared perfectly with just the right amount of spice. I did sample the gumbo which was pretty tasty. I would opt for a bowl as the cup was small and you may end up with all roux and no seafood. Overall, definitely worth the visit! The service, location, food was great! read more

I haven't been here since it was around the corner on North Lamar. Originally told about an hour wait, but we probably only waited about 30 minutes. On a busy football weekend, keep in mind if you get there late that they stop sitting people. For starters, we got the fried crawfish tails. I thought they were really good. They did have a little spice to them so be aware if you are a sensitive palate type. It comes with a sweet chili dipping sauce. For the meal we got a shrimp poboy and the shrimp and grits. If you want my honest opinion both are good. The shrimp and grits is way better by far, but they have a pretty good shrimp poboy compared to a lot of other places. Shrimp poboy comes on toasted french bread with mayo and spicy ketchup. A lot of extra shrimp on the side. The shrimp and grits is a cheese grit cake smothered in delicious vegetables and sauces with big juicy shrimp...I'd recommend it any day. read more

Simple review of the foods we sampled. Bouré burger: excellent. Even though I ordered it med-well, it was juicy and flavorful. Popcorn shrimp basket: excellent. Gumbo: Good. I've made better. This place was very quaint, not pretentious and has a friendly staff. Everyone was constantly cleaning their hands with sanitizer and wiping their touch screen. It was very impressive. The crawfish tails as an appetizer were incredible and the sauce was outstanding. The redfish special with a Cajun cream sauce was equally delicious. The pea shoots were a delightful addition. We really enjoyed it and the key lime pie crust was great and pie was so-so . It left more lime/tartness to be desired but the cream on top was fresh and overall enjoyed it. read more

First off, service is top tier. Everyone is super nice and welcoming. However, my first experience was well under par from what people have told me. Sausage and cheese plate, as well as the egg roll appetizer were good, not great. The shrimp and grits , however, were terrible. Plain boiled shrimp, some with shells still on, served with a very bland Cajun sauce. I'm aware it was my first trip, but what a letdown it was. The majority of our food last evening was very good and our waitress was fabulous. The Square was super busy when we arrived at the restaurant and we were lucky to get a table near the front of the restaurant, especially so my mom (who has mobility problems) didn't have to walk very far. We all began with gumbo, and most were excellent, my however had rock hard rice. It was inedible. We flagged down our waitress and she was quick to get me a new cup -- much better! Our table ordered two shrimp po-boys (both without ketchup) and one peacemaker which is a combination of oyster, crawfish, & shrimp po-boy. All three sandwiches were very good. I'm still giving four stars, but only because an average of 3.6 isn't an option. If I had come by myself, and received the exact meal I received tonight, I would have given this place only three stars. They got the bump since my dining companions both agreed their meals were worthy of 4 stars. read more

My favorite restaurant on the square in Oxford. An outstanding restaurant downstairs, and a 'grown up' place to party upstairs. As an Ole Miss MBA student in my 30s I still like to have a good time, but I'm well beyond my $5 pitcher of beer days. Boure is perfect if you are looking for a place to drink on the square, but your undergrad days are behind you. The food is outstanding as well. What an amazing restaurant! We started off with the fried crawfish tails. You need to order this dish. They are lightly breaded and fried and the dipping sauce is just the right spice level. I had the pimento cheese burger. The beef blend was terrific, it wasn't overly gooey like most burgers with pimento cheese gushing out from all corners. The bun to patty ratio was good, although I do wish the bun was toasted. The buttermilk coated onion rings were terrific served with a side of Boure sauce....a spicier thousand island without the pickles. My wife had the Salmon BLT. Now, I'm not a fan of salmon, but this sandwich looked amazing. My wife said it was a terrific sandwich although she felt the bread was a bit too thick for her liking. The service was a bit slow (food wise), but I can look past that since this setting is just so unique. We can't wait to come back! read more

Boure is nice casual restaurant that can be fined in for any occasion. Their chicken carbonara is one of their best pasta dishes, it's mine and my girlfriend's favorite dish there. It's creamy, simple and nothing too fancy; that's how it should be. The salmon BLT is also delicious when I'm craving for something different. But you can go wrong for a traditional New Orleans style poboy. On the other hand, I don't recommend their spinach dip. Sadly I was disappointed when it was brought out, the cream cheese was not even mixed in well, you could literally taste chunks of cream cheese. There were onions in it but they were still in it's raw texture, very unpleasant. The dish was also lukewarm when it came out so maybe everything just didn't melt well like it should've.. My wife and I were in Oxford for just one night so we decide to try something new for us, Boure. The location is great, the ambience was great, Ole Miss away game on TV, etc. couldn't have been nicer. Boure doesn't take reservations and we were lucky to walk in about 6:30pm because the place packed out right as the game started. Service was pretty good, not great. Onion ring appetizers free 5-star. Fried crawfish were too heavy on the batter for my Morgan City, LA born wife. She had Shrimp & Grits. It was massive. Shrimp were great. Grits were unique because they were a fried or maybe baked square grit patty. Tons of rich cream sauce (which the waiter was kind enough to mention beforehand) with a lot of diced andouille sausage. Just too much, too heavy, etc. we wouldn't order it again. I had the Caesar Salad with add-on crab cake. It was very, very good but also untraditional: onions, hard boiled eggs and kalamata olives with a very thin dressing. The croutons were not up to par. Crab cake was a treat.. Remoulade was very good. We capped dinner off with brownie Sunday. Brownie was kind of Lava cake taste/texture. Very good. This place was so close to a 5-star. read more

Every time I'm asked when I'm coming back to Oxford, I always bring up how I can't wait until I'm able to so I can stop by Boure! While in college this was my favorite "treat" restaurant and I would go at least once a semester to eat here. They have amazing food, amazing servers and a great atmosphere. Outstanding. Went here around 4:30 after the Ole Miss game last weekend. Had to wait about 45 minutes with the post game crowd and boy was it worth it! Ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of Brussels sprouts and it was to die for. I've never had food as good as what they served here. The service was fantastic. Didn't even have to ask for refills on drinks and our waitress gave us great recommendations on what to order. Every tv had SEC football on which is perfect for us football fans. There's even a speaker in the bathroom so you don't miss any of the action. Love how they have the foot pedal which you can use to lift the bathroom door. Next time the Gators are in town, I will absolutely be coming back to Boure. Maybe even sooner. It's definitely worth a trip to Oxford just for the Shrimp and Grits. Hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. read more
