Ordered biscuits and gravy and it came in a bowl with three servings of gravy. Bacon was brittle and I just wanted regular eggs. They packed so much cheese in the eggs you could feel it stick in your mouth when trying to eat them... Had two bites tossed it all and left..sorry folks

This place is apparently super popular with locals, but it unfortunately missed the mark for me…read more We were passing through and saw that this place had great reviews and almost everything else in the area is a chain. We stopped in and started reading the menu board and the lady at the counter just stared at us. We decided on what we wanted even though we had some questions about what was on the menu board. (What comes on a phriends burger? What are the tots loaded with?) My brother ordered a NC style pulled pork sandwich (Cole slaw and hot sauce) and some tater tots, and I ordered the potato salad and a chicken Philly. We both ordered a drink, and we ordered a pecan dessert to split, but when we had asked her what it was, she had no idea. Luckily, it was good and ended up being a pecan topped cinnamon roll. One of the reasons we know that this place caters to locals is because she didn't give us cups, they were sitting over by the drink machines, but she didn't tell us to grab them. So when my brother asked her for the cups, she gestures and tells him "they're over there." So as we ate, we realized that the locals know to grab their cups and coffee and then pay for it, we had no idea. We would have grabbed them had she told us to. I started with half of the Philly while my brother ate half of the pulled pork. I liked the Philly, he thought the pulled pork was just okay. We then tried the potato salad and it was completely inedible. It is probably the worst potato salad I have ever tried, and I unfortunately can't even place what we hated so much about it because neither one of us could stomach another bite. It looks beautiful, but it was very dry and sort of astringent. It was not pleasant. We then traded sandwiches and I didn't care for the pulled pork, so my little brother tried to finish it, but whatever flavor sticks with you from the potato salad then just ruined the taste of the pork, so he couldn't eat it anymore. The tater tots were FIRE though, so hot and crispy and perfect. Those were crazy good. The Philly was served in really thin parchment paper or something, so we did grab a paper towel to wrap the other half of the sandwich in when we left, and it ended up completely soaking through the paper towel and onto the car floor we had it on. Overall, the food ranged from okay to absolutely-not-okay, the service was "meh", and the price was a bit high for the quality of the food. There aren't a ton of options here and I could definitely see why people would swing here for a turkey sandwich before going hunting, rather than stopping at like dominos, but I almost wish we had just grabbed a sandwich at subway or food lion.

I selected the Pork Tacos PLATTER ($16), which featured three soft flour tortillas filled with smoked pulled pork, house-made pico (red onion, tomato, cilantro), and radish with a Baja drizzle. (Corn tortillas are available upon request). All platters come with two 8-ounce sides; from the 9 choices, we opted for the broccoli salad and onion rings. My husband selected a Smoked Pulled Pork SANDWICH ($10), which was served on a "signature-branded" bun with regular or spicy slaw (on the side) and with a bag of Lay's chips. All of our food was very good, and tasted fresh and homemade. The "branding" of the restaurant's logo on the bun was a fun touch, and we got a pleasant surprise in finding that the very tasty BBQ sauce on the tables was manufactured by GWB Hot Sauce in Clarksburg, WV (which we visit regularly to see a relative). Quantities were good for a filling lunch; we did not have leftovers for a brown bag. Two small comments: (1) my husband would've preferred a more generous helping of the slaw to put on his sandwich; and (2) it would be great to have a menu option that is vegetarian, perhaps a platter with three or four of the side dishes -- or at least showing a separate price for the sides on the menu. Ambiance. (4.5/5). The restaurant is country cute, with clean, well-spaced tables. Many of the tables were occupied while we were there for lunch but it didn't feel crowded. A few patrons seemed "local", and acknowledged the owner who was sitting with some buddies at one of the tables. The restroom was well-maintained. Service (4.5/5). There was only one (efficient!) waitress, handling in-restaurant and take-out orders, delivering food and drinks, wiping down tables, etc. Despite how busy she was, we felt taken care of. Parking, in a town of Louisa lot behind the restaurant, was free and easy. We will return.

He was delightful to talk to about the menu and honestly gave such a great vibe to the eatery. Before today is say we haven't been all that impressed with BBQ options on the east coast. There's one other place that was alright but Wild Waylon's BBQ knocks it out of the park. And if I'm being frank, Wild Waylon's is better than some BBQ joints I've been to in Texas. We will have to make the trek out here again, and this time with friends, to enjoy one of the best restaurants in VA. What we got: Jalapeno pepper poppers - 5* what a delicious side! Until today is yet to meet a restaurant that made a better jalapeno popper than myself. Wild Waylon's has officially won the unofficial competition. I will be putting rubs on my bacon henceforth and hopefully will be able to reclaim my honor. Do yourself a solid and order this side. Beef rib - 5* my partner missed my face when I took my first bite and that's probably a good thing. This was the highlight of the meats Wild Waylon has to offer. If I remember correctly it's smoked for 24 hrs and boy does it shine! The meat literally fell off the bone when I picked it up for my first bite but that didn't stop me from diving in with my fingers. This one does not need any sauces, it's flavour is strong and good. Baby back ribs - 3.5* honestly, probably closer to 4 but when compared to the beef rib no other rib can compare! What I loved about this one was the crispy-ness on the underside of the rib and dipping this one in the various homemade sauces that are available in store. Pork Belly - 3.5* we tried a slice but saved the rest for leftovers. It was good and even better dipped in a sauce. I really liked the texture and am looking forward to eating the leftovers. Much like the ribs I think I am having a hard time judging this one without comparing it to the beef rib. Brisket - 3.5* we tried a slice but saved the rest for leftovers. It was decent and kind of melted in the mouth. There's probably a little room for improvement with this particular dish but it's also a good one to let the sauces shine. Baked beans - 5* woooah, these are fantastic beans! Coleslaw - 3* decent coleslaw. It wasn't anything amazing but we appreciated having it as a palate cleanser between meats and spicy sauces. Pickled jalapenos and onions - 3.5* this is spicy and delicious!
