at least spell it right if you're gonna mock me.
Kathleen D.

I stopped by the Curbside Creations truck during the Folk Festival a couple weeks back. It was Saturday night probably around 8 p.m., so they had a full day of serving the crowds already. The line was quite long and they did a good job of moving people along. One guy was walking through the line taking orders, which would've been more helpful if they had printed menus to review. I had seen their menu elsewhere previously and knew I wanted to try the chicken sandwich, but didn't know the particulars of it. I ordered it when he stopped by. When I reached the front, I specified no tomatoes on the sandwich, so the guy taking orders up there wrote my ticket as "girl who loves tomatoes." It just seemed like a fairly weird and rude thing to write when he didn't know me or why I requested none. In this case, I just don't like tomatoes and wish they weren't always on everything all the darn time. But peppers? Get super sick each time I try them. Food sensitivities are a thing. With tip, my sandwich was somewhere around $12. It was good, yes, but $12-good? Probably not. If it's a double-digit sandwich, I think it should come with a side. That goes for any restaurant, food truck, etc. I didn't get the best first impression from this truck, but I'm not against trying them again in the future on a less busy day. I'll just try to order an item that makes more sense economically.

Shrimp Po Boy, Catfish Po Boy, and Crab Balls w/ Dipping Sauce.

Man oh man, their food was awesome. So good that I'm writing a review less than an hour later. The Po Boys are made perfectly and served looking just as good as they taste. The crab balls make you want to indulge, not to mention the dipping sauce it is served with...Sooo delicious!! Definitely would travel to get food from this truck, it's worth every penny.

Alligator Po ' boy

I had a chance to try out Curbside at Food Truck Wednesdays at the county complex near Mimms Loop. I had to go with the alligator po'boy sandwich when I spotted it on the menu. I really got a fair share of alligator! The po'boy came with lettuce, tomatoes and chipotle sauce. The sauce was a bit too spicy for me, but it wasn't anything some tartar sauce couldn't fix. I loved that the pieces had a fish like consistency for some of the bites, and a chicken consistency for others. I'm just a sucker for all things alligator since I don't get to have it too often and it tastes great. My lunch went with a couple of hot dogs from this truck and enjoyed them just as well!

These guys are amazing

Just had a Philly Steak and it was amazing... cooked perfectly... and the bun was very soft and absolutely delicious... so glad they came to Hickory Creek today... you have to find where they're going next and try them out!

Visited this food truck last night at the Hardywood Thursday night Food Truck Event. I had never tried this food truck before but they had plenty of options and seemed reasonably priced. I got the chicken tenders and fries basket and my BF got the shrimp boy boy and some how our total was $19 which seemed a bit steep to me for chicken tenders, fries and a sandwich - the po boy didn't even come with fries. The BF said the sandwich was good (was missing cole slaw though) and I was really happy with the chicken tenders but the fries were kind of lame, not much flavor and thin/crunchy ones. RVA does food trucks really well, so that is why I only gave them 3 stars. There was nothing paticurlarly wrong with our food, just better options out there!

Crab balls

My first experience with this food truck was at an outdoor wedding. The food was great, I had a choice between a BBQ slider, bacon/cheeses fries or crab balls. I chose the crab balls and they were yummy.. Piping hot with a spicy sauce on the side. They were so good I wanted more but there was a limit at the wedding so I had to settle for one serviing. I look forward to the next time I see them so I can have more!

My family and I have eaten at Charred in Hanover about a dozen times now. We have always been…read moresuper-impressed by the service above all things. We've never had a dish that we didn't love. Several times, Joshua has waited our table and his service is so commendable that we have personally requested him when we've returned. However, our experience at the bar tonight was actually what spawned this review. Honestly, I should have left a 5-star review ages ago. But this bar experience lit a fire under me to take the time to type something up. First off, Charred's posted closing time is 10PM. My wife and I got there around 9:35 and we felt guilty for doing so. The bartender (Emily) took our drink and food orders and never said a thing like what you hear at a lot of places when you show up late, like "our kitchen is closed" or "last call is in 10 minutes". No, she made us feel like we had arrived with impeccable timing. I even asked if we were putting her out at all and she assured us we could stay as long as we wanted. Our food arrived and was wonderful, as always. A little after 10PM, another bartender (Lauren) asked us if we wanted another drink. It was already after close and we were the next to last customers in the place. She assured me that it was fine to stay as long as we needed to, so I went ahead and ordered another beer. By this time, we were the only customers left in the entire restaurant. There were still plenty of kitchen workers and wait staff working diligently to prepare for close, but not one person seemed like they were in any hurry for us to leave. Here's the best part: although my final beer order was the last sale of the day, both bartenders (Emily and Lauren) worked together to ensure that my beer was poured perfectly. I'm not kidding, Lauren initially poured the beer and then Emily came over and assisted her with ensuring that the pour was correct. No one likes an inch of head on a draft beer. These ladies got it 100% right, and I complimented them on it. While we were the LAST customers in the place, they treated us like we were the most important customers of the day! Folks, you cannot put a price tag on that. Employees like this are hard to find and even harder to keep. Charred has won our patronage for years to come. This is a restaurant/bar that knows how to hire and train employees who will deliver a magnificent experience. Well done!

I truly think that I could make a meal out of the sprouts if I wasn't sharing. All of the textures and all of the different flavors going on at once is such a treat. There is one item I would like to see added to the menu. LAMB CHOPS !! This is what is missing from the menu. I had visions in my head that lamb chops would taste so scrumptious prepared at this restaurant. But, they were not on the menu. Who do I need to speak to?

We went in 30 minutes later because we didn't receive a text and we were told that she called our name 15 minutes ago and that there was something wrong with the phone lines. She did seat us immediately. We decided to order the Crab-Ocado Scrambler and their Shrimp and Grits. The Crab-Ocado had avocado that had seen better days. Everything else was ok. The shrimp and grits had too many ingredients, but that's because we didn't read what it had. We thought it was the traditional shrimp and grits, so technically we didn't like it because it had more things than we wanted. Overall, our experience here was not great, but we are always willing to try again and when we do I will update the review. We will definitely steer away from seafood for breakfast.

Only street parking is available, but it wasn't too difficult to find a spot. The atmosphere: Very rustic vibe with some farmhouse-style decor. They have table, high-top, bar, and patio seating available. The food: I opted for the Chicken and Waffles with a side of cheese grits. I chose to make it hot for more spice. It's served with one whole waffle, two large pieces of fried chicken, and syrup on the side. The chicken was not seasoned as much as I hoped and wasn't as spicy as I expected, which was a bummer. The cheese grits were alright as well, but not as flavorful as I hoped. My partner ordered the Double Barrel Bowl, and he really enjoyed it. It was packed with pulled pork and was plentiful and filling. The service: Great and kind service from Mave (I believe that is her name but I'm not entirely sure). She informed us about the daily specials and was attentive throughout our visit.
