Oct, 2025. We visited Country Boys BBQ for lunch on a week-day while running errands in Louisa, VA;…read morethis was our first visit. Food (5/5). I selected the Pork Tacos PLATTER ($16), which featured three soft flour tortillas filled with smoked pulled pork, house-made pico (red onion, tomato, cilantro), and radish with a Baja drizzle. (Corn tortillas are available upon request). All platters come with two 8-ounce sides; from the 9 choices, we opted for the broccoli salad and onion rings. My husband selected a Smoked Pulled Pork SANDWICH ($10), which was served on a "signature-branded" bun with regular or spicy slaw (on the side) and with a bag of Lay's chips. All of our food was very good, and tasted fresh and homemade. The "branding" of the restaurant's logo on the bun was a fun touch, and we got a pleasant surprise in finding that the very tasty BBQ sauce on the tables was manufactured by GWB Hot Sauce in Clarksburg, WV (which we visit regularly to see a relative). Quantities were good for a filling lunch; we did not have leftovers for a brown bag. Two small comments: (1) my husband would've preferred a more generous helping of the slaw to put on his sandwich; and (2) it would be great to have a menu option that is vegetarian, perhaps a platter with three or four of the side dishes -- or at least showing a separate price for the sides on the menu. Ambiance. (4.5/5). The restaurant is country cute, with clean, well-spaced tables. Many of the tables were occupied while we were there for lunch but it didn't feel crowded. A few patrons seemed "local", and acknowledged the owner who was sitting with some buddies at one of the tables. The restroom was well-maintained. Service (4.5/5). There was only one (efficient!) waitress, handling in-restaurant and take-out orders, delivering food and drinks, wiping down tables, etc. Despite how busy she was, we felt taken care of. Parking, in a town of Louisa lot behind the restaurant, was free and easy. We will return.

Stopped for lunch. The good news is their brisket, green beans, and gator tots are very good…read more The chicken was not pulled but pulverized. It was tiny specs smaller than if it were ground. Made us wonder what parts they included. The BBQ sauce was just bad.

Craving BBQ? Backwoodz is your place! The brisket with the fat cap on is AMAZING! So flavorful!…read moreCame in super hungry after a long travel day, and that first bite was heavenly. No sauce needed! Another standout was the cucumber & tomato salad which had just the right amount of vinegar. The green beans and the cabbage were tasty, but just a tad too salty for me. I can't fault them, as I rarely use salt, it's likely my palette that is off. The pulled pork was excellent, but needed sauce. Alas I cannot have sweet sauces. I then got the idea to combine the pork with the cabbage and found it similar to the experience of eating luau pork with poi. Better together! I added the leftover vinegar dressing from the C&T salad to the green beans and found that also was a hit. The desserts were very tempting, but I opted instead to order enough brisket and pulled pork for the weekend. It's proven to be very filling!! I also can't say enough about the staff. So genuinely welcoming, helpful, friendly, and clearly proud of their product (as they should be!). Put a smile on my face and will look forward to returning on future trips to Richmond!

The Mac and cheese.. the cheese was so hard I threw the whole thing away. The baked beans was canned no seasoning and my cabbage had more of the root then leaves. I paid $90+ and literally didn't even eat the pulled chicken. Not to mention, I received 4 slices of the brisket. 4 slices ... a compete joke. I used to hype this place up but today they robbed me. I'm so pissed!

Was visiting the growing city of Fredericksburg when I smelled a hint of smoke bbq...wasn't really…read moresure what to expect as this could be a bait and switch...I quickly looked up Wild Waylon on Yelp and reviews were mixed but fairly positive....not much of a smoke smell inside the establishment but plenty of bbq sauces on the table to give off a decent bbq vibe. I decided to go with the smoked brisket and smoked hot dog...presentation was great but not a big fan of weighing bbq at the register but if that's your process, I get it....brisket was mid...looked re heated but lacked authentic smoke flavor...not sure if they use a true smoker or a variation of a pellet smoker/indoor smoker...it's on the same line as mission bbq...not bad but not winning a contest. Brisket prep is a hard skill to master...it depends on the person...some may prefer point of flat...try is particular brisket lacked flavor, there was a hint of smoke but not much else...brisket is a solid 7 out of 10.... Smoked Hot dog is winner...down to the bread, presentation and most important...Cole slaw. Does the hot dog give off a rich Smokey flavor....not really...is it worth the price...you bet. So how does this place receive a 4?....great customer service, clean establishment, plenty of sauce options, and let's face it...bbq is a hard business but most importantly it's one of those things that's cooked and prepared differently all over the world...give WWB a try and come up with your own conclusion
