I get that my hair isn't easy to do, but if you have thicker hair, stick to your neighborhood Dominican hair salon. I find if someone claims that they've been doing hair for certain number of years and doesn't know about your hair they clearly haven't branched out. I have a few friends with hair just like mine. My expectations were exceeded when I accompanied my wife to what I thought was going to be a mundane hair dressers appointment. I was wrong - and pleasantly so. From what I saw, I would describe Bovane as: A conjurer of curls, A maestro of manes, A logistician of locks, etc What I saw that day was Bovane perform hair magic. His personality is wonderful, and second only to his artful cutting and dyeing technique. Bovane's masterful approach is to tailor the cut and particular hair treatment to the individual. I had the pleasure of witnessing what I can only describe as a Herculean effort on the part of Bovane to restore the breaking, overly bleached hair of the client who was the appointment before my wife. When he was finished, the woman's formerly bleached out, dry and breaking hair with a terrible cut, now fairly shimmered after Bovane treated it and blew it out. The woman looked like a princess when she was finished. When he was finished with my wife's appointment, her hair too looked absolutely perfect. I was a bit skeptical at first to entrust my hair to someone new; however, I decided to check out Bovane as he had stellar reviews and was highly recommended by previous reviewers in the area. Amy, his scheduling guru replied back to my yelp message very quickly and was able to squeeze me in that same day for my first appointment. Initially I wanted to fix my very blonde overly drastic highlights and go back to my natural dark brown color. My first experience was great and I was very thrilled with how he was able to fix my hair so well. A few days in, I noticed the color was not sticking as well as I had hoped and when Bovane reached out to inquire how I liked my color and cut, I told him I was concerned that the color was not dark enough. I met Bovane for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I called him based off the recommendations from Yelp. He called me back and gave me a very detailed explanation of his services. I then got a couple of texts to confirm the appointment. Let me just say that Bovane is awesome! He colored my roots and I got a Olaplex treatment. The trim he gave me was really precise. I can't say how he styles and blow dries hair because I went home with wet hair so the Olaplex could work. My hair felt amazing the next day! After 2 weeks I can say my hair went back to its usual dry self but I'm sure it's because I need more Olaplex treatments. I'll be returning to Bovane for sure. I have been to numerous hairdressers & stylists around the Fishkill area. After getting my hair done, I sometimes came home happy with the result, but many times came home disappointed with how my hair looked. The stylists/beauticians were never consistent, sometimes doing a good job, & sometimes messing up a lot. Many times they did not seem to understand the color or style I wanted, even after being shown a picture. Not so with Bovane. I called on a Monday & he was able to squeeze me in on Wednesday. He took a lot of time getting to know me & what I wanted, & explained everything in detail until I understood. I showed him the picture of the way I wanted my hair & he explained the good & the not so good of doing my hair that way, indicating that my hair at this time was a little shorter than it needed to be for the style, but that he could do a mini version that I would love as it grew out. Also, he had a job to do with the messed up color on my hair. It took a long time to correct all the prior mistakes in my hair, but Bovane put me on the right path to healthy hair again. I just love the way he did my hair. It was as close as it could get to the picture I showed him, & just so cool looking. I am not a young girl, but I came home feeling 10 years younger. (Thank you!) Bovane takes the time to listen to his clients, and communicate the reality of the situation. These are super important aspects of any customer service, & insure that one does not come out looking like something totally different than intended.
