Took a chance on Bovine & Swine's to cater for my mom's 70th surprise birthday party... They're located in the same area as Big Cheese Pizza on the west end of the Albertson's Market plaza in Hobbs, NM. Their BBQ may not be everyone's absolute favorite, but it's good to me. No one at our party complained! Here's what my brothers and I ordered from the catering menu for 4/20/2024: COMPLETE DINNER PLANS - SERVED BUFFET STYLE, MINIMUM 10 PEOPLE. We had approximately 50 people. + "EXECUTIVE" plan - Includes three meats, two sides, bread, pickles, sauce (3 variations: mild, sweet & sour, & spicy) and place settings. + We chose ribs, brisket, turkey, scalloped potatoes, mac n cheese... + this package also came with sliced jalapeños & onions + Additionally we ordered 50 dinner rolls (everyone loved these) + 20 corn cobbettes + 1 ranch broccoli super spud (I mean they are HUGE potatoes LOL) + large plain cheese pizza (separate charge from BCP but same delivery) Our delivery went great by one solo employee. My significant other helped him. Our bill came out to $1,055.14. No deposit was required. They simply asked that I call in on the day of the delivery to provide a card number over the phone. Our guests were pleasantly surprised & some even took home leftovers! Yes, I recommend them & would do it all over again. The most difficult part was ordering with a newbie over the phone. Not much of a place to look at, but we came for the ribs to take out. Got the full slab dinner combo that includes 2 pint sizes for $40. Ribs are pul off the bone flavorful fry rubbed. They have a sweet and zesty or a mild sauce that you put on. Sides were ok but the pork and beans were excellent with some meat in the mix. read more

We love the scalloped potatoes and the green beans! We got them takeout for Thanksgiving because they are so good! They come premade and they heat them up... but still delicious. We always get takeout because seating area is tiny! Staff friendly. Also right next to Big Cheese's Party room. Sometimes loud. Parking can be an issue if big birthday party at Big Cheese. read more

We stopped in here by chance on our way back to El Paso; and boy are we glad we did! Don't let the appearance deter you from literally the best extra moist brisket of my life-- and we have been all over America trying BBQ. Their mild sauce was really a nice addition and don't get me started on their homemade rolls. They had a little dusting of maybe a baking sugar, not overly sweet, but it set these rolls apart from most anywhere else I've had a roll. Also had their moist turkey, my 6-year-old was impressed; and their perfectly cooked green beans with bacon pieces. They weren't mushy like some places, nor al dente-- just right! My husband had the dry rubbed ribs and loved them. Not at all dried out. I also had a side of their coleslaw and it wasn't overtly sweet, just enough and fresh crisp cabbage. We wish we lived closer to have them again. Oh, and that ladies who served us were very friendly and helpful for our first time visit. read more

The roll was good. The sauce wasn't bad. Pulled pork sandwich was serviceable, but the "World Famous" ribs, almost $20 for half a rack, while tender, tasted like old feet. Will not be back. read more

The brisket was good. Not great. But the portions were really small. It was like a $15 appetizer. I should have taken a picture. The two meat dinner plate maybe had 2oz turkey and 2 oz brisket. I think that's being a little generous. The scalloped potatoes had good flavor. If in town again o wouldn't stay away ... maybe for lunch the portions seem more appropriate. read more

We went here because our first choice was closed for catering. Sure wish it had been open. This place was a VERY small place that is connected to a children's pizza place?!?! To go to the restroom you literally have to go through ugh the child filled pizza restaurant. We ordered a two meat plate with ribs and brisket. The brisket was edible, the ribs seemed as though they had been cooked for two weeks. The macaroni and cheese was awful and the potato chips were stale. The bbq sauce was good though. We definitely will not return and hopefully the other bbq place will be open next time, it smelled amazing when we drove by there. read more

This.... is an odd place. Not only is it barbecue, but it's also a pizza restaurant, and an arcade all in one. My review is for the barbecue restaurant only. I had the moist brisket, chicken breast, corn coblette, and green beans. The barbecue was good, the sides decent. The barbecue sauce comes in three favors: sweet & zesty, mild, and hot. They were all good, although I couldn't distinguish much difference between them. Overall the food wasn't spectacular, but it's a good place to go for some decent barbecue. read more

This is the only barbecue place in Hobbs that we've tried since moving here in October. A checkout lady in the nearby Albertson's recommended it to us and we're glad she did! The smells drifting across the parking lot as we approached were amazing. Inside, there's a modest number of tables where one can eat in but we've always gotten takeout. In particular we love their ribs. Our first visit we each got a half-rack, not realizing how massive an amount of ribs that would be. Now we split a half-rack and still can't finish it all. We usually get the scalloped potatoes and coleslaw for sides. If memory serves, they offer four sauces - mild, medium, hot, & "sweet & tangy". I can vouch for the mild & the tangy ones - they're delicious. The ribs are consistently perfectly cooked and moist, never all dried out. This place is definitely worth checking out! read more

moved to washington, and there are not a whole hell of a lot of barbecue places where i live. so i was down in hobbs for a job and saw this place sitting right around the corner from albertsons one night and decided i needed a barbecue fix for lunch the next day. i was definitely not disappointed. i mean, i just wanted something simple, some moist brisket and some sausage. maybe a little barbecue sauce on top and some corn. nothing outlandish. the brisket was probably the best i have had in a long long time. the sausage wasnt too spicy--just right, and i could get some corn on the cob that really tasted great. oh yeah, they have an assortment of sauce on the table so i tried them all. still cant choose which one i like the best. and i have been back for more on a different trip. and they did not fail me on that trip either. nice job, guys. read more

Really delicious BBQ! I got the sandwich plate with brisket, and slathered in sweet and tangy sauce with tomato slices and onions, it was perfect! The coleslaw really tasted homemade, and was not just a mayonnaise bomb. The only negative was the lettuce in the side bar was wilted, and the girl at the counter was so sullen and unfriendly. read more

Ate here last week. The food was good. The portion size was smaller than I normally get from other places. Service was good. Three types of sauces, all were good. Not a lot of selection for BBQ in Hobbs so I would eat here again but not going out of my way. read more

The green beans and scalloped potatoes are fantastic! I go in to just buy them to eat with a meat I prepare at home or to eat by themselves. What I don't like is that they don't make anything themselves. It is all brought in frozen or prepared. The staff is always friendly. I think there is better BBQ in Hobbs, though. read more
