We literally stumbled upon this lovely winery in Paso Robles. We were new to this area and looking for a recommendation when our guide from Sidecar Adventures thought we would like this place. Well, we fell in love with Bovino as soon as we saw the view from their deck. The tasting room sits on top of one of many hills in Paso Robles and looks out over the unending rows of perfectly aligned of grape vines. Our hostess, Loraine, put together the perfect grouping of delicious wines for us to taste. The visit was made extra special when the owner and his lovely wife stopped by to thank us for visiting. This was our first introduction to the wineries of Paso Robles. The rest of our stops couldn't match the unforgettable experience we had at Bovino. read more

The tasting room is gorgeous with beautiful views of the vines that surround the property. You can stay inside or enjoy the outside deck with plenty of tables. We've been meaning to stop by Bovino for a while so decided to make it a tasting and lunch last Saturday. First of all, the property is beautiful. Gorgeous views, lovely terrace. Not super busy for a Saturday, but it was also fair weekend. Known for their burgers/beef, I had the bacon blue burger and truffle fries. Burger was great, fries were good but over salted and as a person who love's her salt, it was almost too much, even for me. 4 stars for the food and 3 stars for the wine. Because wine is very subjective from one person to the next, I will just say that there wasn't anything wrong with it, it just didn't sing to us... and that's fine. I still bought a few bottles of the Albarino (their best wine on the menu, IMO) to waive the tasting fee. Nice people, the descriptions we received were very surface... basically just reading the notes on the card. Overall a good experience. read more

Beautiful views, not crowded. Delicious food, esp their burger. They toasted the buns so it has great texture and flavor. Had to dock 1 star because our server was a new guy who had no clue what he was doing. He kept having to ask the other staff for help or info. Not sure why no one was next to him training and providing support. Our tasting and lunch took way longer than planned and we were late to our next winery appt. Had to dock another star because the wine flight was $20 for 6 tastings, and the tastings were miniscule. It's not a regular tasting pour. It was like the volume of a bottle cap. The cost to pour ratio is even more pricey than Napa or other wineries in the area like sculpterra. Would come here for the lunch and views, but wouldn't say the tasting is worth it. read more

Usually one of our favorite wineries to go for lunch......except for yesterday. Wine is always wonderful, lunch, not so much. What happened to the really good salads? 5 women looking for a nice light lunch and a glass of wine. Appetizers were ho-hum and then just burgers and more burgers. Not what we were looking for. The burgers were not exceptional and took way too long to get our order. We are used to getting really nice meals, that we rave about to other people, at wineries. Not so much this time. We will probably not come back if this continues to be their lunch menu. We could have gotten this menu at a beer pub downtown. Only reason for 3 stars is because our server was very attentive. Otherwise I had planned on giving one star just based on the lackluster menu. read more

They just hosted an industry night at sunset and it was amazing. The wine is delicious and more than fair for the price point. The view alone would be worth the drive but the hospitality is the place they shine. Attached is a lot of photos of the beautiful experience they put together for us fellow industry workers. Yay! We are so impressed with Bovino. My parents turned us on to them, knowing that we love good food and wine, and that we're being really mindful of covid safety/have been almost strictly takeout-only save for 1-2 places we're familiar enough with the setup of. Home stretch as the vaccine rolls out, folks! We made a reservation for Bovino's deck, and were relieved to find the seating comfortable and very distanced. Didn't hurt that we were going for lunch around 11:30-11:45, so earlier than most folks. The seating also overlooks their vineyards-- just beautiful views in every direction. We were welcomed by the ladies running the tasting room, who are just lovely-- so, so kind, welcoming, and wonderful. They offered us blankets because it was a breezy day, which we declined but so appreciated and availability the gesture of. I opted for a wine tasting, and my husband (not a big wine guy) had a diet coke. (Hey, I'm just glad that they had an option for him beyond plain water!) My wines that I sampled were wonderful, and I actually ended up walking out with a case of the Generosity Grenache Blanc, which is on special this month and in May at $100/case (along with the zin). Amazing deal for a great wine-- again, my husband is not a wine guy, and he actually liked this one enough to be excited about getting a case after sampling my tasting. The extra kicker: 50% of the proceeds for their Generosity label goes to the month's charity. This month, that is the Boys & Girl's Club of Paso Robles. Talk about an amazing deal with added benefit to the community-- my hat is off to Bovino for giving back. We both ordered burgers with ancho fries, hungry as we were by this point, and were blown away to how flavorful and well put together the burger was. Suuuper crispy, flavorful fries also (the ancho seasoning that they toss them with is fire). Easily in our top 2 burgers in the county now. Wonderful, above-and-beyond service, gorgeous vineyard views, good covid protocols, great wine, philanthropy, and a killer burger-- it legitimately does not get better than this in my book. Friendly staff. Easy to make a reservation. Menu has appealing options. There were two other groups on the patio, one of about 6-8, and one of maybe 15, so our food took a long time to arrive. The deviled eggs were especially tasty. The wines were okay, not my absolute favorite. This could be a timing issue as we did taste Cabernets at a different winery prior, and it might have impacted my palate. I cannot applaud enough how seriously they took their cleanliness here though- cleaning the arms and backs of chairs between guests. I wish every establishment cleaned this well! read more

My wife read about this winery from a group of Cal Poly parents. When we go down to visit our daughter, we try and fit in 1-2 new wineries in the Paso Robles area. This one was recommended by a few parents and didn't disappoint. Dean, our wine/food server was extremely knowledgeable about the property, wines and owners/history. He was very easy to talk to and made our visit so much fun. The view was great. The wines were all good and mostly affordable. The food menu was very good and the food came out great. My wife and I did a flight, had the small charcuterie board and the deviled eggs. We look forward to our next visit of tasting some of the new wines that will be coming out in October. read more

We absolutely loved our experience at Bovino vineyards! Their tasting room is stunning and the estate itself is really something to marvel at-- wide open spaces, beautiful grape vines, and a spacious outdoor patio with a retractable shade cover that makes sitting outside an absolute treat. Nine of us went in for a tasting and we liked the wine so much that we ordered four bottles for the table and left with five bottles to go! Their charcuterie pairs perfectly with their wines and we are told that a wine and French fry pairing is in the works-- can you imagine?!? Wine and French fries?!? It will take a lot of will power not to stop by every weekend. Whether you're a local or a tourist, do yourself a favor and go to Bovino. You won't be disappointed! read more

This is probably a 5-star place, but I think they got a little too busy to remember us. What you have to love about Paso is that tastings are either super cheap or free, and most wineries have great food. Bovino is no exception with their sandos and kennebec fries. I think owner felt bad about how long we had to wait and how much we were neglected. They ended up giving us three free bottles after our late lunch. We also took on two cases of 12 wines a box for $48/box. What a steal. Oh, and the views from the balcony are fantastic. read more

The winery has such beautiful views. It's up on a hill which makes the view amazing! I came here with a big group on a bus. It was a third stop so we were ready to eat. We all ordered a few different things and they make it easy for sharing here. Their seasoned fries with multiple dipping sauces was by far my favorite part of this winery, you have to get it. So so good! I didn't get any photos because we all devoured them. We even ordered another plate! This place is definitely worth a trip. Oh the wine was good too read more

Pleasantly surprised by this property! When we drove up to the tasting room my breath was taken away by the gorgeous views! There is an option to taste at the bar or the sit out on the patio. Its all with a 5 star view. I suggest having lunch with your tastings. The have quality food for purchase and the service was superior. Every wine I tasted was just how it was described on the menu! Delicious and well made. Our server Susan knew the wines well and picked out the perfect bottles for us to take home. Our group went home with 3 cases of wine to share. I was staying with a friend in Creston & I was told I had to check this place out. We came after a rain storm so the patio was closed :( the patio had the most amazing view. The women who helped us at the front was super sweet & was awesome with our group. Wine tasting was $20 to try 3 white wines & 3 red wines. The white wines were on the lighter side, but the red wines were very tasty. I highly recommend the red wines. Also! Try their Zin if you can, that was prolly their best overall. We ordered a cheese plate - best cheese plate I've ever had. Everything was SO fresh & so tasty. It was perfect to go with the wine. I really enjoyed my experience here. If you are looking for a gorgeous place to spend the afternoon, overlooking the vineyards of Templeton, along with great food and wine - look no further. Bovino was a welcome surprise, as we hadn't heard of their wine, but our neighbors told us we shouldn't miss it. As luck would have it, we arrived during Restaurant Month, and had a fabulous 3-course meal along with a bottle of Albarino that we shared with our neighbors as we sat on their patio. The service was impeccable - every single person that came to help was was kind, knowledgable and went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience (we did!). Worst winery I've ever been to. The owner was a complete douche, We ween't even allowed to wait for our bottle of wine. Our food came and we were told we got cut off because one of our friend was more inebriated then the rest of us. We were seated in the corner having a good time and never got wine options, I talked to the owner outside and he made up lies about friends coming in late. Do not come here they are not rude as hell, although the girls that work here are super sweet, good food but terrible management! Not worth the stupid walk up the hill! read more

Just had lunch indoors in the cafe at Cafe Bovino. It was wonderful from beginning to end. My husband ordered the burger and I ordered the chicken sandwich with basil, prosciutto, and fig Jam. We split our entrees so we could eavh taste both and they both came with ancho fries. Outstanding food, wonderful service, and our Zinfandel wine was completely marvelous. Bovino's beautiful patio with vineyard views was the setting for lunch with a friend last week. It wasn't just any lunch, it was her final lunch out before giving birth to her first child. The food was delicious, as well as the wine (for me, not Miss Preggo), but what really made the experience was our wine server. Pam was genuine, polite, and knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make us feel safe during a rare (these days) dining out experience. It is most definitely the people who make or break a place and Pam made it for us!! The view is fantastic, and they serve a full lunch. We had a special pasta with sausage dish last weekend, but finished up with fries an hour later since we were still tasting ...they came with several dipping sauces, and my fave was the coffee/ketchup. The wines are average, but they also just opened recently and i expect there are great things to come. This was formerly Burbank Ranch. We had a really relaxed and enjoyable time on the patio with our dog, and they have cookies and water for their canine patrons as well. I went to a wine club pick up party here. This was my first visit to Bovino. The staff was wonderful, the rose and Grenache were delicious, and the views were beautiful. It sits atop a hill overlooking the vineyards of Templeton. They have perfect views for the sunset from the back deck. They also had a delicious menu and an in-house chef. Everyone there was so nice!
