We spent the week here in the Beach House and it was paradise. Our own patio, steps onto the beach with a breathtaking view was just what the doctor ordered. We were greeted warmly and brought to our room upon arrival and were on the beach lounging within minutes. The owner, Peter, was always around working on something! It is super clear he loves what he does and cares deeply about his guests. He gave us some great recommendations for eateries (devils purse brewery being my favorite!) and always was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. Each morning from 8-10 they serve a nice continental breakfast. My husband and I were go each morning, eat and then take a nice long walk on the beach with our coffee. The private beach already has chairs and umbrellas so no need to bring your own, they set them up each morning and take them down each evening. The inn is also within walking distance to many great shops/restaurants. We went to many of them! The kite shop was super cool and we were able to grab souvenirs for the littles back home. After dinner, come back to the inn for a fire on the patio! I very much hope to return here. I am so thankful we found this and splurged for the beach house room! Do not stay at for Hawthorne Motel…read more It saddens me to have to say that the quality of management has really depreciated so badly I would never stay at this motel again. My husband and I have stayed here for 10 years and this year with the management being Jeff and Kari we experienced the worst in hospitality that we have experienced in our 62 years of life My husband and I were traveling with our 2-year-old granddaughter and have stayed here for the past 3 years with her. Although the accommodations were modest at best we were treated well, and always returned same time each year. This year unfortunately we were met by Jeff who immediately started complaining about hot having to manage this because there wasn't anybody else in the family to do it. He was very aware that we will bring in our granddaughter asked if we even needed a pack and flight which we did not we had accommodations for her for the floor. The next day when I saw Jeff with my granddaughter he waved and said hi Gramm! Although we noticed a difference in the accommodations at the motel to name a few there was no luggage cart ( Jeff complained he was tired of people hitting the air-conditioning units with it) a soda machine ( he was tired of fixing it) there were no more small table next to the lawn chairs, we were provided a quarter of a sponge which was used on the sink when we arrived, a quarter paper towels in the paper towel holder a quarter toilet paper in the toilet paper dispenser - seemed like there was a need to severely cut costs ? In the bathtub the safety handle collapsed when used by my granddaughter ! A lamp was broken in the room and when I put it outside to be taken by housekeeping staff, Jeff appeared annoyed and short with my husband. By the third morning my husband was asked to be spoken to by Jeff and my son was also present. He proceeded to say how disruptive we were and that he was receiving complaints about us from other guests ! ( we had been there less than 48 hours at this time with our granddaughter ) Interesting our neighbors next door who we knew from last year told us they did not hear a thing and was shocked to hear this as well, " wow they really made you feel unwanted didn't they/" Jeff noted that I called tomy husband to bring her back from the car and felt that was disruptive. I've never been treated so offensively in a place that supposed to be hospitality focused in my life. Jeff even went on to say that a guest left " early" come to find out normal departure time was 11 and she said she left at 8 because we were noisy... We leave our room by 715am ! Follow on conversation with Jeff and Kari left us to feel like we were burden, unwanted and severely disrespectful of others and they had no choice but to put us in our place! They provided no viable explanation of disruptive behaviors that we would think would warrant this horrible treatment . My husband and I decided this was not a place we felt comfortable staying in for 1 more minute and left 3 days early. Kari and Jeff refused to refund our 3 nights stay- "good luck with that your card was aready charged" she smirked. So this is what it's come to at the Hawthorne Motel we will not be back and do not recommend others to visit unless they want to be subjected to an unstable unhappy individuals unwelcoming ways. The Hawthorne and severely needs updates, and if it's time for the family to sell it to get into the hands that somebody can make it enjoyable stay again soon.so be it!

I've stayed at many 5 star hotels before and my stay at the Chatham Inn is by the best experience I've ever had. I literally can't recommend this place enough. I've spent a fair amount of career as a director for a market research firm and one of things we would preach is that differentiating on customer experience is key to winning in this age of the customer. Let me tell you, the Chatham inn literally puts on a master class from the moment you arrive. Arrival- I stumble into the lobby through the wrong entrance and the maitre d Lyn greets me by name and says we've been expecting you. (I was so blown away that she new my name, it made me feel so valued) Then when I went back to get my wife, Una met us on the walk path and helped us with our bags. (So nice!) Then Sherri the restaurant manager greeted us as well and let us know our dinner reservations were good to go. Then Lyn and Una both helped us to our beautiful room with the fire place where wine was on ice next to beautiful roses and chocolate that I ordered for my wife. By the time we relaxed we felt like we just arrived to stay with some friends. Literally everyone knew our names. Such awesome check in experience. Then the wife and I hopped out to get dinner, by the time we got back housekeeping had went in and tidied up our room. This was literally the best check in experience I've ever had. Dinner - so the next night I booked the 7 course Valentine's Day tasting. This was absolutely amazzzzingg. While we waiting for dinner, we had a wonderful conversation with Una, then Felix the beverage manner came over recommend some wine with dinner (side note h is so friendly and his wine reccos are spot on. I made a wine selection prior to arrival and he called and recommend a different one which was exactly what I was looking for!!), then Sherri the restaurant manager came over again just to check in with us, and then Kayla came over made sure we were all set as well. This all happened while we waited in the lobby for dinner... amazing. So when we got inside, we were greeted/seated by the owner Jeff (such a nice touch to see the owner working side by side with everyone). Then the waitress team was amazing. Our main waitress was Luz who was awesomeeeee. So thoughtful and friendly. But to be fair so was Elena, and Shawn. Shawn even had some wine sent back to the room for us to enjoy after dinner. Then Chef Isaac did the rounds and greeted all the guest. I could literally go on for days about how amazing my stay was. How this place got anything less than a 5 star review is mind blowing. If I could give them 6 stars I would. Thank you to Lyn, Una, Felix, Sherri, Luz, Shawn, Elena, and Kayla for making our stay a special one. Jeff you have a great team!

Scrumptious Chef breakfast was not scrumptious. We finally went to the lobby to get our own coffee, and water. And the most egregious thing was, the beach debacle...FYI, the hotel charges $500.00 to rent you chairs, an umbrella and towels. This was not disclosed to us and was refunded. We were so looking forward to our stay....its advertises the Inn as being a 5 star establishment...our experience was something more like a staying at the Marriott. Would NEVER recommend.

You walk in and feel at home. We had a quick trip and only stayed one night but will return for more. Andrea, the owner, was so sweet and explained everything so well. The eating area is so quaint and comforting. We had a lovely clean room, Madaket. It has a huge king bed and wonderful lighting. Of course we had an unseasonably beautiful day to add to our experience but the location is wonderful for being near everything around Chatham. Before we left we had a delicious breakfast with wonderful service. They provide a weekly menu and Sundays is decadent French toast and eggs. Please book your stay soon!

Our room (#1) was immediately off the shared space by the door of the inn, so folks looking for more privacy and less noise from other guests should pick a different room. But we loved all the light we got during the day and the in room fireplace at night. In warmer months, there's a small porch off of this room as well (besides temperature, its a little too exposed to use in the winter as well). In the interest of indulging in some booze, we walked to two different restaurants in the evening: the Red Nun (straightforward cape sports pub) and Campari's. However, the walk to Campari's was a bit of a deathtrap considering there were no streetlights or sidewalks for much of the way. Go to to Red Nun if you value your life. Nick & Brian were consummate hosts, attentive and charming. Our housekeeper (Natalie?) was very sweet as well. The included breakfast was tasty and fresh. Don't skip the blueberry muffin, its delicious.

The exceptional customer service and reception personnel was excellent, informing us about the array of complimentary amenities, including kayaks, bicycles, and a BBQ area adjacent to the lobby. A historic railroad trail for bicycling and walking is also available. Our room was equipped with all necessities, from a coffee maker and mini fridge small 2 burner electric stove, glassware, silverware, plates, and pans. No microwave though. The accommodations were cozy and intimate. The water pressure was excellent, and the air conditioning unit operated quietly, maintaining a comfortable temperature. For those seeking a serene and peaceful retreat, this property is ideal. Notably, it is proximity to charming downtown Chatham, about a 10-15 minute drive. The decor was undeniably charming and bright, rendering our stay truly unforgettable. We would stay again.

We stayed in the upstairs 'Main Suite' which was spacious and comfortable for our family of 4! We really enjoyed having a full kitchen to cook in and a washer and dryer too! The apartment also came with everything we needed to enjoy the beach: chairs, towels, umbrellas, and a beach tote to carry everything in. This really came in handy! This is a house about a mile down from downtown Chatham with three "guest room" options: the Main Suite, which has a full kitchen, the Garden Suite, which has a private deck and library, and the East Room, where we stayed: a room with a private bath, queen-sized bed, and large window seat overlooking the garden that fills the rear of the property. The rooms all come equipped with coffee makers, cube fridges, and a cupboard with cups, plates, coffee filters, and other essentials. The East Room is large enough for two people, nicely decorated, and appointed with a lovely antique armoire and flat-screen TV. It has exposed ceiling beams, a cool, soothing decor palette, and soft lighting. The bathroom is modern with a glass-walled shower. My only caution is that the queen-sized bed is very soft, so be aware of that if you prefer a firm mattress. I got a peek at the Main Suite, which is gorgeous, and though we went off-season I could tell that the garden would be beautiful come springtime. This is not a B&B, but there are several options for breakfast nearby, more than that in-season. The business is run by two personable locals, Bob and Danielle, who also run a neat antique map shop that's adjacent to the rooms. They are helpful, attentive, and full of suggestions for things to see and places to dine. They allowed us our privacy while being attentive to our needs and picking up the room, and they checked on us regularly to make sure we were comfortable. Chatham is a quiet, quaint town with friendly people--not funky, more of a get-away-from-it-all type of place. The Guest Rooms are about a mile down from Chatham's downtown, which has a great locally-owned bookstore (remember those?), a neighborhood theater, and a variety of restaurants and shops. The lighthouse and beach are down there as well and make for a pleasant walk after a meal. There's a grocery store and CVS nearby. Chatham's location in the "elbow" makes it ideal for venturing out to explore other parts of the Cape. If things get too sleepy for you, the energy of Provincetown is about 75 minutes north. Cape Cod Mall is a 20-minute drive away if you tire of cute, small, locally-owned businesses and just want Starbucks and a movie with Dolby Surround Sound. Finally, the price is good, especially for the Cape where even off season B&B's and inns can be pricy. The local guide Bob and Danielle gave us reported that the Guest Rooms are one of the most reasonably-priced accommodations in the area. The Main Suite was priced about the same as a 3-star hotel room in a city and had much more to offer. For what we would have paid to stay at a flea-bag hotel, we had a great experience in a clean, comfortable, personally-appointed setting. .

The bedroom features an oversized California King bed, a desk and chair, television and lounge chair with ottoman. Beautiful French double doors lead to one of the loveliest features of the room which is a private deck with chairs. The living room has a delightful fireplace, comfortable sofa and another television. There is also a tastefuly done little kitchenette which was stocked with dishes and glassware as well as a mini fridge. And off the living room is the attractive bathroom stocked with toiletries and comfortable robes. Right outside our room was a Flavia coffee and tea maker as well as another refrigerator with complimentary creamer, soda and bottled water. The table in our bedroom also had a complimentary decanter of sherry and two scrumptious chocolate truffles were left on our pillows each evening. Although most of the inn's rooms are in a separate building a few steps away, breakfast is served each morning in the main house and in the company of Harrison, the inn's resident and well behaved Labradoodle. An afternoon sweet treat of cake or cookies is also provided in the main house and there's always a bowl of chocolates if you need a sweet to tide you over. We had the bad luck to not have the inn-keepers, Donna and Byron, in residence during most of our stay as they'd suffered a death in the family and were out of state. However, they'd left clear instruction with their staff about our arrival and we were warmly greeted and welcomed. During our stay, the staff was quick to answer questions about the area and to provide restaurant recommendations. The room itself also contained a lot of information about local attractions and restaurants. The night before our last day we came back to our room to find a complimentary bottle of champagne and note from the innkeepers with their sincere regrets for having been away during our stay. That was a very nice touch and was greatly appreciated. On the down side, we actually didn't think much of the breakfasts as they were largely flavorless and frequently included microwaved bacon. We wondered if the food suffered due to Donna's absence because she was billed as the cook. Both Donna and Byron were back on our last morning and it was Donna who prepared our breakfast that day. The food did improve under her stewardship but we'd still say it compared poorly to other B&B's we've visited. Our room, though lovely, did have some oddities. All the plumbing fixtures were installed backwards so that all handles turned in an atypical direction and the shower pipe was loose which restricted some of the water pressure. The impression was that the work had not been professionally done. In the bedroom, the bed was oddly situated with one side far too close to the wall despite more than ample room on the other side. It made it uncomfortable for the person sleeping on that side to get in and out of bed. Finally, we do have somewhat of a pet peeve with inn-keepers who advertise suites, which should be two separate rooms divided by a door, even though the room does not meet that criteria. In this case, the only separation between the bedroom and living room was a screen. Nevertheless, the inn was quite nice and Donna and Byron were charming hosts who had trained their staff well. Brewster is located mid-Cape and convenient for day trips to Hyannis and Provincetown which makes this a good choice for a place to stay and there are some lovely beaches right by the inn. Overall we enjoyed our stay on Cape Cod very much.
