Bucket of drinks with Monday special
    Teresa S.

Monday night has a fabulous deal here-family special for 4 includes 1 hour bowling (valued at $65), 2 pizzas, bucket of beer and endless pop for $50. The price is staggering. It was busy and felt a tad unorganized. When we checked in we were told someone else would come to help us. We were assigned a lane and told someone would check in with us again. Another family checked in beside us and came to their lane with drinks ready to go. My husband went back up to confirm we had reserved the family special and get our drinks and figure out how the pizza worked. We were very pleased with the Grizzly Paw drinks. Our pizza came after our lane time was over and the pizza was delivered to our lane but we were seated at a table nearby. Pizza was so good and we loved the real bacon strips and ham chunks. Would return for sure! They just need to iron out the organization of what is going on!

Tucked away around the corner is The Fairmont Banff Springs Bowling Alley... once you find it you'll be shocked to know Banff Springs Hotel actually has its own Bowling Alley... it's pretty awesome actually. Four lanes of 5 pin bowling with an eating area and private booking section with TVs so I'm guessing it's to watch sports games or hold events. I don't know why but it seems so much more fun playing here... maybe it's the novelty of being part of the hotel, or maybe it's because you don't have to leave the hotel to play a game of bowling. I recommend booking in advance as they seem to be booked up quite often. $60 a lane per hour with a max of 6 players which includes the shoe rentals. So it cost us $10 per person... so it's really not bad at all. Different story if you only had two players. Drinks and food were absolutely hands down expensive, but you have to expect that. Pizza and nachos were tasty and perfect snack while playing with friends. Drinks are insane but I'm sure it's comparable to all restaurants in Banff anyways. It takes longer to get your food so order as soon as you start or even before as it comes from the main restaurant in the hotel. Overall, awesome time...awesome staff and would recommend trying this place out. Guaranteed to have fun!

Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.

We came here on a whim to find a nice place to eat as we were on our way to Lake Louise. We walked around town to find a place to eat and my wife loves Italian, so we tried to walk in at about 6pm. Luckily for us, there was an open seat (reservation are highly recommended.. it was packed). We were greeted by the waiter who gave us the choice of sparkling or still water. Fancy schmancy. We got the still house water. The place was packed, full, and a bit loud, but also romantic given the atmosphere and the views. Good place to take a date, but not a good place if you wanted a private booth/moment. I ordered the seafood linguine, and my wife ordered the spicy rigatoni alla vodka. We also ordered the little gem caesar to share, and she also go the coffee martini for her drink. I got soda. The caesar came out and it was one of the best caesars I had. It was presented by having two baby heads of romaine lettuce covered with caesar dressing. Very tasty and creamy. Very very good! Next time, I am going to order one for just myself! Only eating one baby romaine head left me wanting more! After the salad, the pastas came out and the seafood linguine was remarkable! Presented as a bundle of linguini with seafood on the sides, all covered in white wine/clam sauce. One of THE BEST seafood linguines I have ever tried! My wife's spicy rigatoni was spicy and had a kick (I am Thai so take that for what it's worth). My wife thought it was a bit too spicy for her, but overall the dish was meh. Reminds me of the pasta alla vodka at Cheesecake Factory, but without the sausage. I do believe if there was an option to add sausage, the dish would've been 100x better. The dish just got bland the more you ate it. And because of this, I ended up eating the rigatoni, and my wife ate the linguini lol. Just kidding.. kinda. We shared our plates :) I highly recommend this place. The rigatoni was nothing special, but everything else was spectacular. We were even contemplating going back there on our drive home, but it opened at 4pm that day, and that was too late on our schedule to wait. Nevertheless, we'll be back again!

Note: We never got to eat here…read more We made our reservation several days in advance and clearly noted that we'd be bringing our small dog and requested patio seating. Apparently, reading reservation notes isn't part of the reservation process at Lupo, because they didn't bother telling us dogs weren't allowed until three hours before our reservation. Having a no-dog policy is your choice. Having absolutely no respect for your customers' time is another. You had days to tell us. Instead, you waited until the last minute and left us scrambling to find another restaurant. Thankfully, Princess Sofia Pizza was happy to seat us outside, and the food and service were outstanding. Funny how one restaurant can communicate like professionals while another can't manage to read a reservation. If you're considering Lupo, don't assume they'll actually review your reservation before the day of your visit. We won't be giving them another chance.

Thing is we arrived pretty late. Close to midnight. Me and my daughter walked to town, about 5-10 minutes away from our hotel. A few places were still open, which was nice. After checking out a few places, we decided to check out Aardvark. Location - It's in the town of Banff. It's right off of the main street. Walkable from a lot of the hotels in the area. Food - The food is good. It was freshly made. We got one pepperoni, one cheese, and poutine. The pizza had enough grease, but it's not greasy. The dough was cooked properly. It was crispy outside and chewey inside. The flavor on the pizza and poutine was good. I did not get food poisoning. Service/Staff - Good service. Orders were taken promptly and food came out on a timely manner. Staff were friendly. Vibe - The place had a fun and bright vibe. Pizza by the slice was on display. There's not really a place to sit. It's pretty much a "come in and grab" type of place. It was cool. People were still coming in to buy slices. Would I go back? Yes, I would. It's specially nice that they are open super late. I hope they stay the same.
