You are definitely paying a premium to bowl here because it's at the Fairmont. It's fine, it's a small 4 lane bowling alley. It's clean, service is decent. We made reservations ahead of time.

Bucket of drinks with Monday special
    Teresa S.

Monday night has a fabulous deal here-family special for 4 includes 1 hour bowling (valued at $65), 2 pizzas, bucket of beer and endless pop for $50. The price is staggering. It was busy and felt a tad unorganized. When we checked in we were told someone else would come to help us. We were assigned a lane and told someone would check in with us again. Another family checked in beside us and came to their lane with drinks ready to go. My husband went back up to confirm we had reserved the family special and get our drinks and figure out how the pizza worked. We were very pleased with the Grizzly Paw drinks. Our pizza came after our lane time was over and the pizza was delivered to our lane but we were seated at a table nearby. Pizza was so good and we loved the real bacon strips and ham chunks. Would return for sure! They just need to iron out the organization of what is going on!

This was the perfect activity when we didn't want to leave the property due to subzero temperatures. If you follow the corridors around from the Fairmont lobby you can access it without going outside. I was a little worried about if this would be worth the cost ($CAD49 per hour - weekday rate). But the fact that it was Canadian style bowling made it SO fun. My husband and I got in 4.5 games in the one hour. The higher rates probably keep from overcrowding since there are only 4 lanes. The man operating the place was so nice and courteous. After we bowled, we stayed an played ping pong (free). They have drinks to order and a group near us was even ordering shots. Despite all the things we've done in Banff, this was among the most fun.

Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.

I was excited to go back to my hotel and brush my teeth and use mouth wash to get rid of the disgusting pungent flavor of the pizzas the waitress recommended. PS the bathrooms were DISGUSTING. Would not recommend.

Apparently, they make all of the beers on top in house. We tried their beer flight, which features their post popular beers. The pinery pilsner, happy trails pale ale, and peach cream ale were probs my fav. We also tried some of their food which was delicious as well, but the star of the show is def their beer. We tried their elk and kale pizza and tuna poke bowl. Never had elk before, but it tastes like lean beef! Would def recommend stropping by PSA: This place gets pretty crowded during peak hours so try to make a resy

Our server was from Ireland and she was a real gem, she's off to Australia soon! We had the Mac and cheese and the beer battered fish and chips. Both were delicious and served with such speed and accuracy our heads were spinning! In a good way! The Mac and cheese had shaved mushrooms, not big chunks, but shaved, that is the difference between a chef and a cook. The Fish and chips were phenomenal, they use their own beer for their batter and you just need this in your life!

We loved the variety of pasta shapes and flavors, and you can watch them make it in house too :) My favorite pasta was the truffle agnolotti and the tomato-based rigatoni with just a hint of spice. The agnolotti was unique and tasty; the cheese filling inside was so creamy, smooth, and thick without being pasty. And the perfectly sized rigatoni was simple but creamy and flavored just right (wished there was some meat though!). The pastas were cooked nicely, but I prefer just a smidge more al dente. Happy to have vegetable options too! The asparagus and beets were yummy and a little different (yellow beets with a goat cheese sauce instead of crumbled, almonds and burrata on the asparagus), and the salads were full of flavor without dousing them in dressing. Overall, a nicely presented and delicious meal for everyone! Our waiter, Dylan, was charming and friendly. He skillfully cleared our table's stacks of plates in one go with ease and kept our water glasses full (thank you!). They were busy for dinner-- definitely make a reservation during your stay in Banff!

Perfectly hyped :) We made a reservation for 8:30 PM on a long summer night and there seemed to be a few other empty tables for walk-in's. The waiter had some recommendations and we mainly went off of that. The pizza was heavenly!! The most unique combination of flavors, pistachio in a savory pizza was incredible! The pasta with the lemon sauce was another favorite, it especially felt perfect for summer. The service was great and it also has some mountain view's which we definitely enjoyed.

Thing is we arrived pretty late. Close to midnight. Me and my daughter walked to town, about 5-10 minutes away from our hotel. A few places were still open, which was nice. After checking out a few places, we decided to check out Aardvark. Location - It's in the town of Banff. It's right off of the main street. Walkable from a lot of the hotels in the area. Food - The food is good. It was freshly made. We got one pepperoni, one cheese, and poutine. The pizza had enough grease, but it's not greasy. The dough was cooked properly. It was crispy outside and chewey inside. The flavor on the pizza and poutine was good. I did not get food poisoning. Service/Staff - Good service. Orders were taken promptly and food came out on a timely manner. Staff were friendly. Vibe - The place had a fun and bright vibe. Pizza by the slice was on display. There's not really a place to sit. It's pretty much a "come in and grab" type of place. It was cool. People were still coming in to buy slices. Would I go back? Yes, I would. It's specially nice that they are open super late. I hope they stay the same.
