I was staying at the Fairmont Banff and saw a special for this place on a Monday $50 for 1 hour of bowling 2 pizzas and a bucket of beer . I felt that was a good deal so headed over since I have never played Canadian 5 pin bowling and I will have to say it is a lot harder then it looks . Overall this place was a blast the 2 ladies working behind the counter were really nice and helpful just great service all around. Monday night has a fabulous deal here-family special for 4 includes 1 hour bowling (valued at $65), 2 pizzas, bucket of beer and endless pop for $50. The price is staggering. It was busy and felt a tad unorganized. When we checked in we were told someone else would come to help us. We were assigned a lane and told someone would check in with us again. Another family checked in beside us and came to their lane with drinks ready to go. My husband went back up to confirm we had reserved the family special and get our drinks and figure out how the pizza worked. We were very pleased with the Grizzly Paw drinks. Our pizza came after our lane time was over and the pizza was delivered to our lane but we were seated at a table nearby. Pizza was so good and we loved the real bacon strips and ham chunks. Would return for sure! They just need to iron out the organization of what is going on! read more

Tucked away around the corner is The Fairmont Banff Springs Bowling Alley... once you find it you'll be shocked to know Banff Springs Hotel actually has its own Bowling Alley... it's pretty awesome actually. Four lanes of 5 pin bowling with an eating area and private booking section with TVs so I'm guessing it's to watch sports games or hold events. I don't know why but it seems so much more fun playing here... maybe it's the novelty of being part of the hotel, or maybe it's because you don't have to leave the hotel to play a game of bowling. I recommend booking in advance as they seem to be booked up quite often. $60 a lane per hour with a max of 6 players which includes the shoe rentals. So it cost us $10 per person... so it's really not bad at all. Different story if you only had two players. Drinks and food were absolutely hands down expensive, but you have to expect that. Pizza and nachos were tasty and perfect snack while playing with friends. Drinks are insane but I'm sure it's comparable to all restaurants in Banff anyways. It takes longer to get your food so order as soon as you start or even before as it comes from the main restaurant in the hotel. Overall, awesome time...awesome staff and would recommend trying this place out. Guaranteed to have fun! read more

This was the perfect activity when we didn't want to leave the property due to subzero temperatures. If you follow the corridors around from the Fairmont lobby you can access it without going outside. I was a little worried about if this would be worth the cost ($CAD49 per hour - weekday rate). But the fact that it was Canadian style bowling made it SO fun. My husband and I got in 4.5 games in the one hour. The higher rates probably keep from overcrowding since there are only 4 lanes. The man operating the place was so nice and courteous. After we bowled, we stayed an played ping pong (free). They have drinks to order and a group near us was even ordering shots. Despite all the things we've done in Banff, this was among the most fun. read more

first time trying out canadian bowling. it is expensive as others comment, however it seemed to be the only local bowling alley. It's well kept, clean and has an arcade in the back. It's also in the hotel, so that is already a signal that it would be a little pricier. There are only a limited number of lanes, so it can get booked quickly. It was a fun experience and we're glad we checked it out. In fact, the kids and hubby went for another round. read more

Pizza was OK and the price was OK for the Banff Springs in particular what is super annoying is that the place was empty when I walked in and yet nobody had answered the phone after multiple times that I called and the hotel staff called so that I could do a pick up order by phone ahead of time. read more

Was it fun? Yes? Was it cool to be able to gnome bowl (Canadian bowling, apparently) without leaving the hotel? Yes. Was it the most expensive 2 games of bowling I've ever played? Oh yah. For 2 people, 2 games (that lasted a total of 32 minutes), with shoe rental and 3 low-grade beers came out to $70+ dollars. So be prepared for that bill because there's no prices to be seen at the counter, at least not when we were there. There's only a few lanes and when were there, there was another family and the men were drunk as skunks, the women were tolerant, and the kids were out of control. It was a weekend and I get cutting loose but the parents were like 40 and 50 and the kids were all 3 and under and it was just not cute and too close between the lanes to behave that way... so if you go, maybe just put forth some effort to remember that there's other people around you. The bowling, as mentioned before, wasn't the type of bowling I'm used to. I honestly thought it was a joke. Balls the size of croquet balls and you get three rolls per frame. I didn't love it but I was still pretty damn good at it if I may say so myself. They also have pool tables and tons of TVs, there's music, and its definitely a pretty family friendly place (maybe a little too family friendly for my tastes, but good for them). The bowling was so much fun. Unlike anything I have ever done before. I'm from America so I had never done anything like this. The bowling was expensive. Personally I thought it was worth it. if you have never played Canadian bowling before it is a great thing to try. The scoring is kind of confusing the middle pin is 5.
