Came here for a group pizza party. This pizzeria is inside the Banff Inn although it doesn't have the feel of a hotel restaurant, rather just like a casual and homey small pizzeria. tried the cheese, vegetarian and pepperoni pizzas. The pepperoni is interesting in that it's chopped up and buried with the cheese so by appearance you'd think it's just a cheese one. The crust is quite thick, good if you are hungry as two slices will fill you up. Taste is not bad especially the vegetarian one but overall not my favorite as I prefer thin crust and this is way too thick. read more

I came here for dinner since it was near my hotel and I was hungry. We ordered the Carlito's pizza (chicken, artichoke, red pepper) for three of us to share. It took a long time for the pizza which I didn't mind since I would assume it was made to order and fresh. The pizza was okay, a bit too overcooked but still tasty. Yummy yummy! On our way home from downtown Banff, we passed this place as it was 5 minutes from our hotel. It was empty on Boxing Day so no wait to be seated. Restaurant is located inside the Banff Inn. They have free wifi which is always a win when traveling. The pizzeria has a sports bar vibe, but only has 2 tvs, lots of seating at the bar and some tables for dining. We went for a half cheese, half pepperoni 12 inch pizza. It took about 15 minutes to make the pizza, but we weren't famished so it wasn't a problem. The pizza had a crisp crust and lots of cheesy goodness. Good amount of cheese and sauce. The pepperoni was under the cheese which was different, but my husband enjoyed his side. They have a ton of pizza options, including gluten free crust and poutine. The Specials are not so special. Our order was missing poutine which I pointed out at pick up, they checked and confirmed it was not included. I double check the special and combo prices and they are exactly the same as ordering each item individually. I guess that is not uncommon to have something on special that is not a special price but I wouldn't order a combo that was all regular price. Pizza was ok, no offer of utensils. You wouldn't know it, but this pizzeria is actually a great choice for poutine in Banff! They have something like 12 varieties. I had the three cheese version and added the grilled onions. Yum! The fries were spot-on thick and crisp with a nice skin and good texture; gravy was tasty but not too thick. Curds were creamy and melty. Side note, we also ordered a pizza which was tasty - the cheese was baked over the top into a gooey crust like top. All in all, a good choice for something hearty on a cold night! read more

Carlitos Pizzaria is a restaurant that doubles as a bar/lounge, and is located inside The Banff Inn hotel. We ordered pizza and fish and chips to go. The pizza was missing the bbq and hot sauce that waa meant to be drizzled on top, but it probably would have clashed with the flavours of the other toppings anyways. The 12" pizza was tasty and would adequately serve 4 people. The fish was well seasoned and the batter was crunchy and tasty. Very appetizing. The two pieces we ordered was enough to share between four people. This all cost us $50.00. I would recommend this place. read more

We had the poutine with extra cheese. Don't let the picture fool you by its apparent brown squishiness. The cheese curds were great! So when I took the first bite of my pizzas from Carlito's and got vibes of that place, I knew this was a winner. The crust is just right, not too thin or thick. The sauce is delicious and light. This place is TOTALLY AWESOME. They have all kinds of Montreal smoked meat stuff, and their pizza is awesome too. The crust is delicious. Yes, I've tried the 'smoked meat' pizza and it's really amazing. The dessert though...oh my God. If you're not from Quebec, I guess you might not know what 'pudding chomeur' is, or what it's supposed to taste like. It's usually some kind of vanilla cake with warm maple sauce over it and some vanilla ice cream to top it off. It's a Quebec thing. Anyway, they have it there, and it's not just good, it's the best I've had in years. They have great poutine too. They key to great poutine is the cheese curds. Usually, people can mess with the recipe all they want as long as the cheese curds are there, but lots of places just think you can mess with EVERY part of poutine, and so they get it wrong because the cheese curds are not there. Carlito's gets it right, so right that it could compete with any place in Quebec. This place has lots of good food, and a really nice, comfy and laid back atmosphere. 5 stars all the way baby. read more

We come here to eat dinner the first night we arrive Banff since it is close to our hotel we are staying. When we arrive at the restaurant, there are 2 empty tables near the entrance, but we waited for 15 minutes and no one come to greet us or anything. The one group in front of us gets so mad they simply left after the long wait, so we decided to seat ourselves at the empty table. After another 10 minutes wait, they still do not us the menu. Thus, we have to ask the menu from other guests sitting next to us. We decided to order to-go instead of eating in the restaurant since we are really hungry and do not want to wait any longer than we need to. After the waitress prepared the food for us and give us the bill, we went to the counter trying to pay for the food. She then let us waited for another 5-7 minutes before she let me swipe the card. When we start eating back at the hotel, we realized they did not even give us forks or spoon, even thought our order include salad and ice cream. We end up eating with our fingers. My friends and I were really disappointed by the service experience I had here, and the taste of the food totally not worth the wait. read more

First time in Banff and decided to walk into this joint based on the sign claim, "Best poutine this side of MTL." We figured a pizzeria AND poutine must hit the spot so we walked in with good expectations. Service experience... Off the bat, the place was around 80% capacity and we were not greeted. In fact we had to hunt someone down to get us a table. After we were seated and had decided on our items, the newly sat table behind us had their order taken first. After we placed our order, and drinks received, no one came back to check on us for 45 minutes. At the 45 minute mark we flagged down a waitress and asked where our salad, poutine, and pizza were. At this point the restaurant was at 50% capacity and we had watched the delivery boy walk out twice with orders. We received our food roughly 50 minutes after ordering, all at the same time. The food... We ordered the Carlito's pizza which was cheesy and flavorful with the chicken and artichokes. The crust was thick with a crispy outer and chewy inner. However the dough did not taste fresh and the overall pizza only rivaled good frozen pizzas with unique toppings. The poutine was good but the gravy was really salty. Cheese curds were also good and the thicker fries were plentiful but could not offset the saltiness of the gravy. We literally had the same dish at Jasper Pizza the night before and I must honestly say their claim for best poutine is just a marketing gimmick. Lastly we ordered the tossed salad which appeared and tasted fresh, and the dressing they used to blend it all together wasn't too light or overbearing. Definitely a good salad. I'm not sure if these folks were having an off night with service, especially since the waitresses seemed nice, but their service and communication was terrible. We found this gem two doors down from our hotel. Their poutine is sooooo delicious. The gravy is so savory and perfectly seasoned. The previous Yelpper doesn't know what he's talking about - and I should know because I am a classically-trained Chef. It was not too salty - it was perfect. In fact, it was so yummy that we went back the next night. My husband ordered Poutine again, and I ordered pizza. Both were delicious. I couldn't finish my pizza or bottle of wine (half priced bottles on Wednesday) so they let me recork the bottle to take back to our hotel room. Very presentable and staff was nice but the food was not the greatest. Clubhouse is processed meat, not real chicken and processed cheese. Sign says authentic poutine and it came out cold, cheese didn't melt at all. Will not be a return customer. read more
