This is how a dentist office should work. They know you and work you in if you have a concern. It's like having a dentist in the family.

Another member of her family was near and dear to me through my early adulthood and through the loss of our son 6 years ago. My husband recently had a crown come off which uncovered significant decay. This was work she had previously done for him. He went in to see what could be done. He needed an extraction, bone graft and resin. He did not want a full work up as he wasnt having issues with any other teeth. Dr.Boyd does not take our insurance so we pay out of pocket and he wanted to keep things reasonably priced. He left that day with a price to get the tooth fixed and made a brief statement of "hey let me know if you guys need any work done and we could work out a barter". Again...preexisting relationship, he's done work for them before. Not really a weird thing to say from one business owner to another. He calls a few days later to schedule the work after looking into some holistic dental options and decided he would rather go with who he knew. They weren't able to get him in for a month but he committed to scheduling anyway. He asked out of consideration of their business what the cancellation policy was in the event he found someone to do it sooner should the pain worsen. This is a tooth that is infected with no crown to cover it. They immediately met him with a refusal to schedule because "he has another dentist". He explained he doesnt have another dentist but was simply stating that in the event the tooth gets worse he may need to get in sooner somewhere and wanted to be considerate ofntheir cancellation policy. The girl on the phone stated she "did not believe him and they werent going to see him as a patient at all anymore." She was incredibly unprofessional and ugly. In any other professional setting she would have been fired but this was Dr.Boyds relative. I went up to the office in hopes to speak with her or Dr.Boyd and remedy whatever miscommunication had occurred. I ended up speaking with the male that works the front desk. They painted my husband in a such a demeaning light because of his barter statement and unwillingness to have all of his teeth worked up. He is one of the most honest, kind, filled with integrity persons you'll ever meet. A successful and well liked business owner. When I went to the office I honestly thought there could have been miscommunication between the relative and Dr.Boyd who supposedly supported the discontinuation of seeing my husband. I found out there was none and it was in fact decided by Dr.Boyd. I remained very kind and calm because thats how you should treat people. The man at the front desk would not look me in the face. He wouldn't answer what he meant by "muddy legal waters". I asked what they expected someone in pain to do if Dr.Boyd can't get to them soon enough because the response on this date was literally we refuse to see you as a patient anymore ever, but it had already been decided they would not see him or justify or reason anything else. We have been wildly caught off guard by this experience. It honestly felt like they elevated themselves above my husband. Like they cared more about lining their pockets than the pain the patients are in or honoring peoples medical choices for themselves. This has not been our experience before so understand that you could also be treated this way at some point. Regardless we're relieved to uncover this truth so we can find somewhere else with more integrity and compassion for their patients.

Then refer you out to "deep cleaning". The next group does all the same chargeable tasks and procedures then sits you down to set up payment plan Dr Boyd's depth measurement on the gums were twice what The next office came up with, although I was assured that I would need deep cleaning and regular cleaning for the rest of my life....and an appointment can be set when payment plan is signed, but not sure how much insurance is going to cover...scam It would be a total of 6 months by the time I would make it in to the chair for a cleaning. My teeth are fine. Somebodies have collected insurance payment but offered no real service to patient. This feels a lot like a scam We shall see if this gets removed

I posted my review originally on Google, but I recognize people like to cross check multiple…read morereviews and sites, so I wanted to make sure my review was seen here as well for those who use Yelp. Fair warning this review is long, but thorough. I don't think I could heap any higher praise on the staff that I've worked with in the last two days at the Foleck. I called in with a medical emergency situation. Basically, my situation was that I needed to get my teeth fixed as quickly as possible, so I could medically clear, and then start a Covid shelter in place on Sunday so I could go back to the ship. Not a lot of time. I had developed tooth pain while I was working on a ship offshore and Chesapeake Bay. It was to the point where Ibuprofen wasn't working, preventing me from sleeping and, I had to get off the ship. Once I got to shore and to my vehicle, I called them and they brought me right in. This first appointment was with the Hygienist Katelyn and Dr. Hamlin. Katelyn was really polite and understanding of the situation. Very easy to work with and patient. I chose Hamlin because I had seen a video she had done, talking about when you come to Foleck, it's a judgement free zone. I haven't been the best with my teeth, so I found that very comforting. When Dr. Hamlin came in, she was very nice and I could tell she knew her craft. I felt at ease. During the exam they could see that I was going to need a Root Canal. So I left and went to the Endodontist, and out of sheer luck, and the Dr. Becker understanding the emergency of the situation, decided to do my root canal that day, instead the following day. This is on a Tuesday. Come Wednesday morning, I called Foleck and Becky was able to move some things around to get me in for a temporary crown and fillings, again super short notice, but Becky moved the heavens to get me in. So I started with my appointment, this time with Hygienist Nicole. Nicole was also really nice and a joy to converse with. I certainly felt at ease with her. She got me prepped for the crown surgery. Very important note, they use a extra strength topical that numbs you up pretty good. When Hamlin did the numbing shots, I barely felt any sharp pains. So lets roll in to that, Hamlin starts doing the numbing shots and my nerves get the best of me, I reached out my left to hand, looking for a hand to hold. Nicole immediately recognized the gesture and allowed to hold her hand. Mind you this is the second time in today days that I'm the shit poked out of my cheeks. I don't think Nicole realizes how much I needed that and how much it calmed me down. I'm super grateful to her for it. The crown procedure went smooth for the most part, there a couple times Hamlin to do some more numbing, I guess I'm one of the lucky few that am resistant to numbing. You really get to see how skilled Dr. Hamlin is with her craft. She was super patient, anytime I needed to ask a question, she would pull the rubber piece holding my mouth open so I could ask it clearly. Speaking of which, Nicole was really good at understanding what I was trying to say with stuff in my mouth. So in closing, I have a hard time trusting a dentist, probably the trauma of bad visits as a kid. But with Katelyn, Nicole, and Dr. Hamlin, I felt safe and in capable hands. The Foleck Center, Becky, and Dr. Hamlin came through for me in my moment of need. They got me taken care on extremely short notice and time. Plus I'm from out of state and a new patient. I was so thankful I asked Hamlin if I could give her and Nicole a hug! So I most definitely recommend this place, and will definitely will see Hamlin again!!!

Asked them to please not do that and they actually started arguing with me! Seems like they are more interested in profit making rather than putting the clients dental work as top priority.

No one mentioned obtaining copies of records prior to appt. They wanted to redo all my X-rays instead of communication with patient about need for transfer. When she left, I was reassigned to Dr. Lee, and unfortunately, my experience changed for the worse. Per Dr. Hamilton's recommendation, Suffolk Complete Dental Care referred me to Carson Endodontics for an evaluation & root canal retreatment. The endodontist there determined (after retreating my root canal) that another tooth, #13 was not salvageable and would likely need to be extracted. Dr. Lee followed up later (by personally calling me himself) and confirmed this, explaining we'd plan for the extraction and possibly a bridge. However, when I later called the office to schedule the procedure, the front desk said I was only booked for crowns--no extractions. I explained what Dr. Lee and the endodontist had told me, and the assistant said she'd check with Dr. Lee and get back to me. She called back and reassured me that no extraction was needed. I even called again--specifically stating I would not be happy if I showed up for the appointment and was told I needed an extraction. Despite that, Dr. Lee remained adamant: no extraction necessary. I paid in advance and came in expecting the agreed-upon treatment. Instead, I was blindsided. At the appointment, Dr. Lee suddenly tells me that tooth #13 absolutely needs to be extracted--and now #12 does too. I was completely caught off guard and unprepared, mentally and financially. What made it worse was the complete lack of empathy. No accountability. No apology. Just a cold, matter-of-fact delivery like this was just another day for him. But for me? It was incredibly upsetting. Now I'm left in pain, swollen, and struggling to eat while figuring out next steps. The front office staff has always been helpful--no issues there. But the communication breakdown and dismissive care from Dr. Lee were unacceptable. Dr. Lee completely mishandled my care. I was told one thing, paid based on that plan, then showed up to a totally different story. Now I'm in pain, frustrated, and honestly shocked at how this was allowed to happen. The front desk team? Amazing. Polite, helpful, professional. The office itself is clean and welcoming. But none of that matters when the dentist there is someone I can't trust. I will NEVER return. If this is how Dr. Lee treats his patients, I seriously hope corporate steps in before it becomes something bigger.
