The entire team created a feeling that is truly family oriented, signaling that my son and I, as all the other patients there, are valuable members of their extended family rather than mere patients. "My dentist, Dr. Jayme Oliveira Filho is remarkably personable. He is also very professional, patient and thorough. He always takes his time to explain everything clearly and answers questions in details before any procedure is initiated as well as review findings, further analysis and follow up if any is needed. He is immensely knowledgeable and maintains a very high standard of care. The dental equipment machines look rusty and paint chipping off. They are so tightly booked solid my hygienist said she needed to use the restroom but didn't have time to. The doctor did not feel my neck and jaw to detect cancer. The hygienist did not have the standard extra person to call out the 3,2,2,1 gum health numbers to which slows down the appointment.

I am the only person in the reviews who's noticed that the office doesn't answer their phones. You also see my first name clearly at the top of my review. Rather than calling, I went in to see my doctor after a weekend in pain. I was informed "that he was going into a procedure," and the staff member escorted me back to her desk. I explained my issue, which was that from the medicine I was finally prescribed, I had an infection. I had an emergency, and the care I received when I was in the office didn't extend to after-hours.  Providing exceptional customer care and service can't be your top priority when, in fact, your phone calls--I know "customer" calls--go straight to voicemail. I sit in the office at every visit, and I do not hear or see anyone answer a phone call. No one. As the staff member listened to my concerns, in hindsight another staff member (brunette, with a ponytail) came and sat right next to us. Pretending to stare at the computer screen, "being nosey" and "eavesdropping," which was unprofessional, especially when your customer realizes what you were doing. On the contrary, this woman could have been answering the phones. This is a pretty large office, and it looks like they have ample enough staff that could also cover the phones, as in other smaller dental offices with smaller staff. Whenever I ask why phone calls are going directly to voicemail, I get this look as if the individual doesn't know how to answer because I've heard all the lack of excuses. As here, you're telling me to call the office, but you don't answer the phones.

This office is wonderful; from their front-desk staff being friendly and knowledgeable to the Doctors themselves being amazing dentists. When I schedule with them, they're ALWAYS accurate and 100% sure ... I have to juggle appointments for three kids (plus myself) and I get super frustrated when an office is constantly canceling or rescheduling appointments on me. This NOT an issue with Vacendak Dentistry... if they schedule us, that is when we will see them! As an extra bonus - they always run on time!! Love it. When it comes to payment, they're ALWAYS up front with us about what the cost is before they do any work (barring anything unexpected, of course), providing a written estimate before they even go back. We have Tricare and our Dental recently changed VERY MUCH for the worse... they have been wonderful about maximizing our coverage and making sure we understand the costs of appointments and procedures before starting. I see Dr Dan, and he diagnosed my TMJ, suggesting we try a mouth guard as a potentially simple and less expensive solution before I spend a ton on orthodontics. The custom mouth guard (which was affordable for us) has helped a lot, relieving my jaw pain from clenching at night and I wear it during the day while working to prevent my jaw from locking. We are grateful to have finally found a wonderful dental office here in Hampton Roads that is so close to our home and cares so very much for each of their patients.

Avoid this dental place like a plague. All they care about is making money without any compassion…read morefor us people who are on a pension and can't afford their extravagant services. They pulled my tooth and didn't save it and agreed like a fool to accept and bone graft/implants. They charge you a lot for that implant costing me almost $2k for the bone graft. Plus this place looks like a dental factory with one doctor (Dr. Zahir) working on 7 patients at a time. I mean hard worker but man I wasn't impressed as where is the customer empathy and care . A money tooth factory in my opinion. I wanted her to cement my bridge temporarily and she placed the cement on one tooth not both and of course she used a small amount without the proper tools and enhancement needed just to prove her point that I need an implant/new bridge. It is a business of making money, no care about us patients. Money is their religion not empathy, care or compassion. Sad to post this as the rest of the staff seem nice but not Dr. Zahir.
