We were on our way back from Ohio and looked up reviews deciding to choose Bowsers because there were amazing reviews. The menu looked amazing and we love to try new places. I realize with COVID, everyone is hurting for staff. The 30 minutes it took to get our food was not the issue at all. We understand that part. The problems we had were: 1. The wait time would have been much more understandable had there not been many, many take out orders in that time. Maybe it's just me, but restaurants should be serving the customers who came to patronize them and spend even more money at the establishment a little quicker between take out orders. The server checked on us ONE time during that 30 minutes. Even so, timing was still not the biggest issue. 2. After waiting that 30 minutes, my fiancé's smoked two meat platter ($17) came with 2 slices of lukewarm fatty brisket and 3 slices of lukewarm turkey with 2 cold sides (supposed to be hot sides). 3. Our server, also supposedly the manager, offered absolutely NO apology for this and acted like we were rude stating that they were very busy. We explained that it wasn't the wait that was the issue but rather the fact that after waiting 30 minutes for food, one would expect HOT food. She said she would have them make a new one- way too late. We were already too annoyed so we shared my wrap and fries and she took the meat off of our check. I really assumed after that much trouble she would have comped the wrap too but whatever. I feel so sorry for the take out orders who get home to freezing food. 4. My Buffalo chicken wrap was delicious but apparently the new ingredient is pulled pork? Found several pieces of it in my wrap. Not the biggest issue but worth noting. read more

A solid three. I'm I town for one night and it seems like every restaurant in the area is Italian. This place is not impressive from the outside - looks like a local roadhouse type of joint. I walked in and... same thing on the inside. I've been here for about an hour and the place had had a steady flow of people both to dine in and carry out. The menu is confusing. The regular menu is burgers and Pittsburgh sandwiches. Then there's the smokehouse menu which is rally limited. You can have a few different smoked meat sandwiches with one meat or fries with meat. Some of the food was great ... some was so, so - so it's definitely worth going. I had smoked prime rib sandwich [she told me it was leftover from a few day earlier]. It was good, the bun was too big for the meat portion ... I would order it again, but only on the day in which it is the special of the day. Fries were very good. Smoked brisket was good, smoked turkey was the best of all. Didn't know where to go so figured to try this place. What a nice surprise! We have a smoker at home and pride ourselves in smoked meat. I have to say my brisket was melt in your mouth!!! The pulled pork was moist and tasty. Not sure what bbq was given but it also was very good. I had the coleslaw (moms is better No one can beat moms) But this was really fresh crunchy and cold. On first glance when we pulled up it's a tiny unassuming local restaurant. Once we walked in we were immediately greeted by kind friendly staff (Jen) who got our drinks and gave us a few moments to look at the menu. Lots of choices. I went with the brisket fries and my boyfriend got the Jon Ambrose brisket sandwich. Both were AMAZING!! Best brisket I've ever had. Even better than the brisket I got in Kansas City. While on vacation in PA, this little non-descript BBQ place was by our hotel. After playing the 'what do you want to eat?' game, and checking Yelp reviews, we decided to give it a try. Pulling into the parking lot, it looked like we were at the Elks Lodge, LOL. But, there was a huge pit BBQ, and smoker. We walked in, seat yourself, and a server quickly came over. The place was very casual, clean, and packed with locals. And, a steady stream of take out orders. There are TV's throughout, so I bet it is hopping for sports. But, the coolest feature were the beer tap handles that decorated the walls.... so many! This place is serious about their beer selections! So many hidden delights here! First- Root Beer on Tap. Flavor- incredible! Secondly is the new smoker they have added, and the entire creative menu to go along with it. We had the fries, with smoked pulled bbq pork, that were intermixed with melted cheese and topped with green onions. Our waiter brought us samplings of their four bbq sauces, which each had its own unique delicious flavor. Then upon recommendation of a prior yelp review, we tried the grilled cheese sandwich- we selected the smoked turkey-which was placed between two thick crusty, buttery pieces of grilled bread that was topped with mozzarella. Just moved to the area and a gentlemen recommended it to us and was not disappointed at all. We loved it so much. We got the turkey cheese fries and a turkey sandwich and the banana pudding. I feel like this place is such a hidden gem! I was staying at a nearby hotel and thought I would try it. Doesn't look like a lot on the outside but the food was so good. I was delighted to now see that I'm not the only one who does not understand the appeal of Bowser's. All my friends seem to adore this place, so I've felt like quite the odd one out for years. For a while, I continued to go back with my friends thinking, "perhaps this time, my experience will be different." However, that has never happened and I am officially done throwing away my money here. Ever since I was a teenager, I've been roped in by friends, family, and acquaintances, into purchasing their hoagies for some school or sports fundraiser. They've always been lackluster. I always chalked it up to the fact that they haven't been distributed to me right away (through no fault of Bowser's), they're in plastic, the vegetables aren't going to be as fresh now as they would be if you dined in the restaurant, etc. However, after dining in the restaurant several times, it seems as if their food, "fresh" or not, tastes the same, which is bland and utterly disappointing. The first time I ever went there, my friend and I decided to share a basket of bacon cheese fries. Pretty standard fare for bar food and also quite impossible to screw up, if you ask me. Bowser's managed quite splendidly, however, to screw it up. The fries were limp, soggy, and nearly flavorless. The cheese on top tasted like it came from a cheap can of Dollar General imitation product, and the bacon tasted like cardboard. I ordered a steak salad for my entree, and unfortunately, the lettuce did not seem fresh and the steak didn't seem to be seasoned at all. Was it edible? Sure. But for someone who is looking for more flavor, this isn't the place for me. read more

Bowser's has always been a great place to go....not just for the food, but the people and atmosphere. Every visit makes you always want to return. Unfortunately, tonight was completely different. It wasn't a busy night, but after sitting at a table for 15 minutes, someone finally acknowledges the table. The order is placed at the same time as the drink order.....still sitting and waiting additional time, which is very unusual as again, the people and atmosphere makes Bowser's great. Order comes and it's not completely correct, but the server is kind enough to fix it as well as take the request for something to drink (since the first request was never brought). Time to eat and the food is good but still time goes by without acknowledging the table. It's sad that the visit ends with someone trying to rush the payment since it's time to close the location. It is with sincere hope that the next visit is the way that Bowser's is known for ....kindness, fantastic food, great atmosphere, and friendly people who care about their customers!! read more

We haven't been to Bowser's in over 5 years and definitely had reservations... mostly because we live in California... BUT dam did that PA BBQ not disappoint! All the smoked meats were delicious. All the pickles, slaw, beans, and sauces had that handmade feel and taste. We ordered wings as well just for good measure. Delicious as well! I can't recommend Bowser's enough to anyone in the Beaver County area. Don't forget to grab a beer from their rotating handles. I had a Ying, but there plenty options for a good craft beer. Cheers! Staff was friendly and the place has that nice home town feel. No pretense in the menu or the decor. Only rating a 2 because I specifically heard about Wings and Ribs (Ribs were on special today). Only problem is they were out of both at 8pm. So I ended up with a wrap and steak salad. Wrap didn't have a lot of meat but veggies were fresh. Need a lot more meat. Steak salad was shaved steak bits with fresh lettuce, cucumber, etc. they stack a healthy amount of fries on top. It was interesting and overall ok but nothing to write home about, especially when I really wanted Ribs. So a little disappointing.
