Everything is friction-held together for the most part (tiny amounts of glue on occasion, from what I gathered by chatting with people). With all the pieces pre-painted/cut so you can focus on going through assembly as a fun time. Some of the models have very simple motor/light electronics which bring them to life. Unlike LEGOs, these are designed to be crafted together and then displayed without remixing them further. Large variety of model types. Some which fit onto a bookshelf and tell a story, some which are small city buildings, or some that are just items like flowers. The store interior showcases a large variety of the models, and staff were helpful with pointing out ones which fit a particular interest (we had a friend we know loves stag beetles and surprise, they had a stag beetle). The models run around $40 for the middle sized ones, and we ended up buying several, as nicer gifts to friends who we know would appreciate the fun of assembling them and showing off their creations.

It had been years since I'd been in a Hallmark shop, but this place gave me all the good vibes I remember from my childhood and young adulthood. Loved the large selection of cards and the decent variety of prices for cards. I bought five cards that day and checked off all that I needed for my summer birthdays list. Enjoyed looking at the gifts and trinkets throughout the store, even the cheesy ones. The cashier that helped me was super nice and friendly. I'm so used to getting bad or mid customer service, that his kind and thorough service surprised me. I signed up for the free Crown Rewards program with his help and was psyched about the $5 off coupon that comes with it (sent later so you can use it with your next purchase) along with all the other perks. I will definitely be back to Trudy's Hallmark shop later this summer to stock up on all the cards I need for this fall. Already looking forward to it!

For example, a standard size Disney licensed ornament for 30 dollars. Recently, I saw they are selling fake Labubu in the store for 15 dollars. I was super bewildered, and surprised. When is it ok to sell counterfeits under day light in this country? Fake labubu's next to your Jesus and religious products? I think Hallmark corporate really needs to reconsider this decision. As a young one, I was not the biggest shopper in the family, so our trips here could feel a bit long. Benches for sitting while waiting have been helpful, though can be spaced out. My experiences here have matured as I have aged into adulthood. Alderwood became my number one when shopping for professional attire and wanting to explore more than one retailer. Going to the movies here is something I have done on occasion, the food options remain my most utilized store/shop option across my childhood and adulthood.

This is a small business in Lynnwood so don't expect it to be as big as Uwajimaya's bookstore/gift shop in downtown Seattle. Only thing is it's up north and unfortunately I don't see myself driving up here too often. When gas is $5+ a gallon my wallet takes a hit especially when coming from the southend. Well over that 20-year time period I can probably count on one hand how many times I walked out of there with something worthwhile. For one thing the store is always in a fair amount of disarray. The racks are overcrowded. Too many items where they just have one or two things and it's really hard to find what you want in your size. A lot of stuff on the floor and if you do find something you love you have to wonder if it was stepped on or rolled over by a cart at some point. The prices probably are more reasonable if you do find something but you really got to dig. The thing that really burns my hide is the line. It's been long often in the past but it could be worthwhile if you found something. This most recent time I went the line was ridiculous. I would guess there was 35 or 40 people in line and three cashiers. The people were lined up all the way to the dressing room. I expect this if I go in Ross or the Goodwill. Not Nordstrom rack. Never again. But I want to give credit where credit is due, the cashiers despite the crushing workload where personable and did not display any stress despite the obvious frustration of everyone staring at them doing their job.
