I booked their Tiki cocktail making class on a Friday for a fun date night. Amazing event! This event had everything drinks, food, interesting tour, fun cocktail making activity. The event price included welcome drinks, a large spread of charcuterie, tour and a guided tiki-themed cocktail making class where we made 2 drinks. The women leading the tour was so genuinely passionate. It was so interesting to hear her explain the brewing process with such enthusiasm. Shes a valuable employee that made the experience memorable. I enjoyed learning about how the company has come up, from its beginnings. Great to see the whole process of making the vodka from dehydrated potatoes to the waxing of the bottles. The products by Boyd and Blair are delicious and quality. Their distribution and award accolades are seriously impressive. I really loved getting hands on and making interesting cocktails. The teacher was informative and helpful, creating a fun and dynamic class. I learned a lot and am now intrigued to try more at home cocktail making. I will be shopping for some of the tools, bitters and ingredients that we used during class. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable and friendly. Great dynamic experience I would recommend to anyone. BOTTLED COCKTAILS!!!!!!! I am so obsessed with them! I have not had a bad one either. I need them now more than ever during the pandemic and I don't mean that I need to drink more, it's that I miss having a carefully crafted cocktail at the bar. These are that, but in a bottle that you can just pour out and enjoy at home. I hope they never stop making these! So right now I'm loving the Chai Tea Mule. It is fall in a bottle. It's smooth and so easy to drink. I split the whole bottle with a friend... oops! Like I said, the other ones are amazing too. I've had the black tea/lemonade and the lavender/martini too. But seriously, you really can't go wrong. Their distillery is closed to the public currently, but you can order online. They also pop-up various places around town like Soergel's Orchards. I know they're sold at PA Libations in the Strip and I believe at certain Wine & Spirits stores around town. Just check their website! My goodness do I love them and their vodka! All of their vodka! There are several flavored a d pre-made bottled drinks to choose from in addition to the potato vodka. I never did make it there for a distillery tour, however, Boyd & Blair is doing a phenomenal job during the COVID-19 crisis by shipping their products quickly to PA residents now that the State Stores are temporarily closed. Also at the moment they are offering free shipping (March 2020) if you buy 3 bottles & live in PA. Their online ordering was simple and I ordered 3 bottles on a Tuesday night and it was delivered to my door in LESS than 24 hours (Glenshaw to Cranberry Twp). I am trying a bottle of their potato vodka and 2 of their mixed ready to drink vodka cocktails-cranberry pomegranate and lemon lavender. Delish! If there's any doubt in your mind, taste this vodka. It's smooth, flavorful, and distinctive. Locally sourced and hand crafted, Boyd and Blair, is in a class of its own. There are free tastings and tours on Saturdays. The turn off Route 8 is a bit tricky, but it's definitely worth discovering this distillery and taking the tour. They use a champagne yeast, plus Pennsylvania grown potatoes. They are pioneers, starting this business before it became a fad. I ordered three bottles of the potato vodka during the pandemic, when state stores closed and the frustration with trying to get on the website to order anything was driving me insane. I was given a good recommendation and took the plunge and ordered three bottles to stock up at home. The bottles came quickly. I think I ordered on a Monday and they arrived by courier on a Wednesday. I just tried it last night and didn't know what to expect but I was very happy with how this tasted in my mule. I typically buy Tito's and mix cocktails with that. I'm by no means a vodka connoisseur whatsoever but I know that this had a distinct flavor to it that I really enjoyed and it was very smooth. The price was comparable per bottle to what I'm used to spending. The shipping and handling fee was a bit more than expected (maybe a total of around $20) but honestly, having a couple cocktails on the weekend with my husband is something I look forward to and didn't want to have to miss out on, so I happily paid the fees. There were a few other options on the website to choose from and maybe next time we order I'll try out the rum or one of the mixes. Despite how awful this pandemic is on so many levels, it does feel nice to support local small businesses and find different ways to enjoy things that have become harder to come by. read more

I've always been a fan of Boyd and Blair vodka and I knew they were local, but I had no idea HOW local. Went today for a tour, which was quick but very informative. I love that they have a mini bar set up with interesting cocktails that taste absolutely wonderful. I also love that everything about the place is manual and run by 6 people. It really truly is HAND-CRAFTED vodka. I also learned that they have classes where they are teaching cocktail making techniques, and I definitely plan to take one. I need to hone my mixology skills and they're ready to help. It was a lovely afternoon and I will take others there for tours and tastings. I look forward to future visits. read more

We took a trip over to Boyd & Blair this past Saturday for their tour and tasting. The place is small (I expected something larger) but small definitely doesn't mean bad! The tour was so interesting! Tons of information and a bit interactive also! They passed around samples of the potatoes and yeast they use as well as the fermented mash to smell. The tour guide offered to let us taste the mash but everyone declined. LOL The tour explained the background of the company as well as the full process. Then they showed us the bottling process. After the tour there was a tasting of the vodka as well as their new rum product. The vodka was great! A wonderful flavor with a slightly sweet note. No burn AT ALL in the back of the throat. Just a warm feeling going down and through the chest. Sign of a terrific vodka. The rum was much sweeter (as is expected from rum). Smooth flavor and quite nice. They sell signature cocktails with unique and tasty flavors ($6 a drink = a steal). They also sell their vodka and rum by the bottle (obviously). Prices per bottle are reasonable for the superior quality. Especially since the entire process is hand crafted (from potatoes to vodka). Consider Grey Goose uses a prefab alcohol starter and sells for about $40/bottle. This vodka is top quality and a 750ml bottle sells for only $30! We will definitely be purchasing all or vodka and rum from Boyd & Blair in the future. And we'll absolutely go back for some of their amazing signature cocktails! We like to support local businesses and this one is a hit! We learned this is their 10th anniversary and we are looking forward to enjoying their products for the next 10 years and beyond! read more

Thought I would give it a try. I ordered a bottle of the 80 proof vodka and the response and shipping was very fast. However as I sit here having my first glass, I have to say that it tastes awful. To be fair, the bottle warns you that "If you're of the opinion that Vodka should be tasteless, then politely put this bottle down and move along. This one's not for you". That being said and us being warned, this definitely has "taste". Proper descriptions might be: "Do you like the way French nail Lacquer tastes?" "if you're a man/woman who still loves the smell of lead in gasoline" "My dog drank a bottle of Gordons gin, threw it up and I'm intrigued" So, in short. It's bad. Really bad. read more
