We enjoyed this winery very much. They had different types of cream wines like Maple cream or Apple Cinn. cream. They unfortunately are scaling their hours back. I thought they said this was the last month they would be open because they were moving to distributor sales. Also they have opened a wedding venue business on part of the wine estate. They gave us many small tastes for free. As many as one wanted. They also had various bourbon wines, 2 ice wines and multiple other wines (reds and whites). Tastings were in the front room. No food for sale. I didn't get any pictures since it was so chaotic and late in the day. We bought several bottles to take back. After enjoying at home we wished that we bought more. I was immediately impressed with this cute, cozy barn with super friendly and informative staff. I'm not kidding, I loved each and every sample soooo much. It was hard to decide which delicious bottles were going to be coming home with me. the wines were flavored to perfection...perfectly complex, perfect tannins with a smooth finish....everything! This is my first time ever liking everything I tasted, red and white alike. I tried some of their apple brandy and totally loved the perfectly smooth blend of flavor, which made my taste buds yell for more! I also thoroughly enjoyed sipping our wine while sampling tasty cheese and chocolate trays. So relaxing and delicious too!! This was one of the highlights, for the adults, of our trip to Vermont. $10 got us a sample of seven wines (five of our own choosing + two house picks) with the wine glass as souvenir. Your told about each wine before your pour is given. The tasting was a nice experience and there was no rush; we completed it in about 20 minutes and left with a couple bottles to take home. The two house house picks were a maple cream liqueur and, my favorite, Glogg. The Glogg is a mulled cider wine served warm, which was great on a snowy evening. Located on beautiful grounds, Boyden valley is a must visit if you are in the Vermont area. Now, if you prefer California and Oregon varietals, these wines might not be your palate. But it's fun to try something new. This region is famous for their icewine. Tasting fee is $11 and you get to pick any 7 wines from their menu, plus they throw in 2 free tastes of their Vermont ice maple creme and glogg which is a Swedish style mulled wine, served warm. You get to keep the wine glass. You can also order a cheese plate or chocolate pairing for additional charge. What an assume atmosphere, and such a warm welcome as we entered Boydens Winery. Linda brought her crayons and our host Linda proceeded to take our order. There were 3 couples in attendance and we ordered a mixture of cocktails and the cheese platters. We were well taken care of and had such a wonderful time. The bartender (Kuhl) provided a nice assortment of pleasurable drinks with outstanding taste. Can I give this place 50 stars? I think this is the first time I've actually wanted to give an establishment so many stars. Ok so... the building is an old barn... super cozy inside. We did the $10 tasting ... 9 samples and you keep the glass. We planned to do a quick visit on the way back to our vacation rental. But 5 minutes into speaking with the staff, we decided to stay for awhile. The staff were super super supppper friendly which was a trait of Vermont, we came to realize. So, once we did the tasting we decided to do the cheese and chocolate plates with a glass of wine. Cheeses and chocolate were locally made. Super fresh and creamy. Some of the best chocolates I've had. The cheeses were amazingly fresh as well. Ok... so the wines... this was the first time including my visit to Napa Valley that I liked all the wines and had to eliminate based on which ones I didnt like ASSSS much. The glogg... to die for. Like amazingly good. The Maple cream wine.... ommmggggggggg soooooooo good. They do honor the military with a discount. Overall, this was a highlight of our trip. Loved. This. Winery. We came here on a perfect day for a tasting and glass of sangria on the patio. Our server, Jo, was one of the most personable people we'd ever met and we really enjoyed doing our tasting with her. She told us everything we needed to know about the 9, yes NINE, wines we got to sample for $10. We enjoyed the ice wines the most - all three. I guess they're not the most common which is why they are on the pricier side, but they have packages you can take home that include all three. On top of the wines, they have an awesome selection of ciders. The back patio was so relaxing for a nice drink after our tasting. It overlooks rolling friends with mountains in the background and is just beautiful. We were lucky enough to witness a wedding taking place at the winery! We stopped in for a wine tasting on a summer evening before heading to dinner. I was dying to try the maple creme liquor that I saw all over Yelp pics! Our server was new, but very professional and sweet. When she didn't know an answer, she brought over another employee to explain. For $11 or $12 (can't remember - too...many...tastings these days), you pick 7 choices from their cider, wine and spirits menu, and they tossed in 2 freebies (hot Swedish glögg and a shot of maple creme). The 2 freebies were delicious and the only bottles we bought! I wasn't a fan of the fruit wines. They weren't as sweet or aromatic as others I've tried. When the tasting was done, they gave us a shot of their barrell-aged (6 months) maple syrup. It was so good, hubs also grabbed a bottle of that upon checkout. This is a farm that grows grapes and corn. There is a tasting room on the main floor. You may take drinks to the upstairs or outside patio. You may walk around the property and get up close to the grapes. The tasting is $10 and includes 7 small samples. They have iced wine, maple liquor, hard cider and wine to choose from. They have cheese plates and chocolate plates. We had the chocolate plate for $10 that includes local made chocolates. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful summer weather. I have beenn going to Vermont every summer for years and boyden valley winery is a must. I usually start the day with a canoe tour and end with their wine tasting. The winery is surrounded by greenery, a barn that has a beautiful wedding venue and the best spot outside to sit and take in all of the views. They have a huge selection of wines and other goodies. They pair the tasting with cheese and crackers and give you a selection of their white, red and seasonal wines. Each one has a unique flavor and their desert wines are really yummy. I always end up brining a bottle of their rose home with because it's my favorite. After you have tasted all of the wine you can go outside, enjoy a bottle and cheese board while enjoying the breathtaking Mountain View's. read more

I've been obsessed with ice wine ever since trying it in Canada and was really excited to find out that Boyden Valley was near where I was staying for Labor Day weekend. When we arrived, one of the ladies was super nice and let us sample a few different wines before settling on some glasses to take outside. The outdoor area is really nice with tables and chairs spaced out. There is some seating upstairs spaced out as well. Knocking off a star because we went back for round 2, we had a different woman who was incredibly rude that we wanted to sample any wines at all. She started talking under her breath like we were inconveniencing her. When I asked to try the ice wine, she was extremely condescending and told me the bottle was $60 several times as if I couldn't afford it. I planned to purchase several bottles of ice wine since I can't get it in New York but they had some other dessert wines that caught my eye as well. Another worker offered to let me try it and several other wines before checking out. They aren't serving any food during COVID but you can bring your own food to eat with their wine! All in all this is a great stop in Vermont, especially if you like ice wine! Just beware of the one mean lady. read more

We came to the Boyden Winery because we love the Vermont ice and the maple creme they make there. We were so lucky because we ended up coming to visit at the right time because the day after we arrived in Vermont they were having a two day open house with discounts with free samples and awesome drink specials! We arrived and the parking lot was quite full which was great for their business! We went into the event and were immediately greeted by a smiling, friendly faced woman that was so helpful. The other staff was all so sweet and nice and were always there to help with whatever they could! We did the free sampling that was offered with the event so we tried all three ice wines, the maple creme and the glogg. We then went on to try the most amazing milkshake.. it was a Vermont ice maple creme milkshake! There was supposed to be a variety of meat pies served on the upper level but unfortunately they ran out of most of them by the time we arrived at 2:30 pm. Overall- great experience. We left with 5 bottles of maple creme, 4 bottles of Vermont ice cider, and a bottle of their homemade maple syrup! read more

What a beautiful property and Winery. We stopped in one afternoon and really enjoyed the wine tasting. They are a busy place and we hit them up just at the tail end of peak leaf peeping season. After our tasting we decided to each take a glass and sit on the outdoor patio. They have cheese boards, wines by the glass, maple syrup, candies etc. I think we were a little thrown off by just how expensive this place is. Like expensive expensive. We very much enjoyed this winery. We were taking a ride in the area on a beautiful day and just happened to run across it. We stopped in for a wine tasting which was lovely. Our server was very knowledgeable and very accommodating to our taste. We tried 9 different varieties for $12 which I felt was very reasonable. But when we asked about mixing wines together to increase the flavor to our tastes she was more than happy to do that for us and allow us to taste the combination. They also had maple syrup which is pretty much in every store in Vermont and they had a Maple cream liqueur which is wonderful. I had Swedish glogg for the 1st time there. I always wondered what it was and they serve it warm and as our server told us it is the holidays in a cup and she was right. We bought several bottles of wine and got a discount for purchasing more than 6 and there were other discounts available. It is in a beautiful location and definitely worth the trip. read more

Great place if you're spending the day in the Waterbury/Stowe area! Cheap wine tasting plus a free taste of their maple liquor (similar to Bailey's) as well as their glogg (hot mulled wine). Hands down this is my favorite winery in Vermont! This family owned vineyard specializes in not only grape wines, but they have incredible fruit wines. Boyden has daily wine tastings ($5 per person) that include 8 tastings of YOUR choice from their list and a souvenir glass. Sugar Bear and I shared our tastings, so we got to try all of the wines they had to taste. I had a dozen bottles shipped home from my visit. Here is what I got: Barnyard Red, 2 bottles of Glogg (for the holidays), a Champlain Celebration White, 2 Blueberry wine, 2 Rhubarb wine, Cassis, Gold Leaf (maple dessert wine), and 2 different Ice wines. The wines are AMAZING! I just brought a Blueberry wine to a wine tasting with friends (served with a lemon-blueberry cheesecake...picked the blueberries locally!). It was the first bottle gone and everyone raved about it. I will be taking the Rhubarb wine to a wine dinner at a Thai restaurant. They recommend this reserved wine with spicy foods such as Thai. This place is nice and has a nice seating area both up and downstairs. They have a fairly wide variety of wines, as well as some iced wines, ciders, brandy and a cream liqueur. We chose all sweet because that's what we liked but they also offered free samples of their mulled wine, which is served warm and their maple cream liqueur. My favorite was the liqueur, by far. The dessert wines were also good, but with two of them at 60 dollars a bottle, it's a little overpriced. Their iced cider is about 30 dollars, which I would consider average for ice wine. I've come here a few different times, done the wine tasting twice, and walked away with several of their unique blends. Being the wine aficionado that I am, and having done tastings all over, I've got to say that Boyden Valley makes the best wine that I've tasted so far. These are the must-try wines if you find yourself here (though all of them are good): 1. Glogg 2. Ice Cider 3. Apple Creme 4. Cassis 5. Gold leaf 6. Blueberry! In addition to the wine, there's a sugar house on the premises, and so maple syrup, candy, and maple butter are for sale, plus Cabot cheese and other traditional Vermont fare. read more

Pros: they have a much larger tasting selection than your average tasting room, and everything we tried was very good. The Vermont Ice Maple is incredible and the Glogg is perfect for a cool fall day. Cons: the cheese plate is extremely overpriced. $16 for 8 bite-size pieces of cheese, 1 piece of chocolate, 8 grapes and a bunch of bread doesn't cut it. Also, the pours for the tastings are small, sometimes measly. I literally finished one tasting in one sip, and I'm the one who drinks so slowly that everyone else is waiting for me to move on to the next item. Overall, a decent vacation experience if you're willing to over-pay for what you get (and isn't that what vacation is all about?). read more

My wife and I went here 2-3 years ago - our first Northeast US vineyard...WOW - they don't push a wine club I guess because they KNOW they'll get you. Very personable tour, gorgeous farm, and we had the place to ourselves in the fall. I have had ice wine all over the world, and though this is on par with the priciest, save for 1-2 vineyards - this ice wine should take international 1st place every time... I first had Glogg from some Finns in South Florida, I've had it inside the Arctic Circle in Lapland - Boyden's Glogg is every bit as good without the fun-sucking Scandinavians :) - kidding kidding - We like the rest of the wines, we've been to vineyards in Napa, Sonoma, Quebec City and Moravia - if there was a place I would like to buy and have as my own - it's Boyden Valley Winery - quintessential Vermont with a nice dash of some fantastic wine. read more

We go each trip up to VT and always do the tasting (even if we know we like them already) and walk out with at least 6 bottles of wine. We love so many we would get more but would need a bigger wine rack to accommodate! This is an extremely worth while trip. The one downfall (I hope their management reads this) is the cheese platter you can order, we tried it our last visit and it was pretty disappointing, we must have had about 20 pieces of bread with 2 pieces of one cheese and 1 piece of another and 3 of yet another, along with 5 slices of salami and a few grapes. We liked the cheese but would have appreciated maybe 4 slices of each so we didn't have to split a piece, for the $20 charge this should be a reasonable request to accommodate. **This has absolutely no weight on the place as a winery but the first and only disappointment we have had in our many years visiting. read more

The employees were all very friendly and well-versed in their product. Most of their wines tend toward sweet, which I'm not a fan of, but a few of the whites weren't bad. I visited the Boyden Valley Winery yesterday. This was both my first winery visit/tour and my first time in VT. The tour is not much more than a visit downstairs to their aging/processing area and video w/ a narrator (our narrator for the tour happened to be the (or one of the) winery owners. I'm not an expert on wine by any means but I got to sample all but their Glogg and their Cider Ice. Yesterday they had free tastings (usually it's $6) so me and my boyfriend came on a great weekend! Some wines I loved and others I didn't. I enjoyed their Vermont Maple and Cranberry fruit wines... The real winners were their specialty and dessert wines with the Ice white being my fave and the Ice red being my bf's. At $60 a pop though I ended up foregoing the ice and got the Cassis which was also very yummy at less than half. Now, my last day in VT and I'm hoping to find a couple other bottles in the wine shops of Stowe before I leave! The Gold Leaf specialty was very nice and I want the Vermont Maple... oh what the heck, I should pick up the Cranberry for Thanksgiving too! LOL Maybe I will get a bottle of ice wine... we'll see. Anyway, I thought it was a nice experience. We had the French Gourmet cheese/fuit/meat (mostly cheese, could use more salami for sure!) and bread plate... with a glass of Vermont Maple (my bf and I shared the plate...it's about $19 w/ a glass of NON specialty wine)..
