Was a great place to stay. Well kept and great security. Bathroom and showers clean. Clean pool and heated. Good working laundry. People were all real nice that work there. Has a small store in the office. There was a food truck there selling Cuban food.... discovered I'm not a fan of Cuban food or coffee. Heard very little noise at night. If you need a scooter or golf cart rental see the office folks. The only negative I noticed was in the showers the soap/shampoo holders were gone i the men's side, but I managed. First time waterfront tent camping and it was tight. Tight as in really cool and tight as in you get no privacy at all compared to camping up in Maine and just enough space for your car. Beautiful views. Clean grounds. And 10 minute drive from downtown Key West. $68 low season right on the water with a small bbq stand and a picnic table. Bathrooms were very close, 4 showers out front and in the womens bathroom, three stalls. Clean as they can be no complaints. The ground is very hard gravel so the typical thin stakes that come with tents won't be enough to handle the wind and rain that spontaneously passes through. If you're a heavy sleeper or very tired you will have no problem sleeping in the howling winds, but bring ear plugs, a yoga mat for the ground (it's very hard), and be thankful you don't have to deal with mosquitoes or sand flies. Highly recommend buying a tent for 2x the number of people camping. Be careful of the people that ignore the one way signs getting in and out of the campsite. This place was very easy to find and access. Really convenient they offer coin-op laundry. I didn't try the wifi but I mean you're there to enjoy the views and peace. read more

The camping experience is great and the amenities are good enough for camping. There is one issue that made the experience terrible and it has to do with an older and taller employee. My wife and I needed to get some work done around 5 am in the morning and so there were some tables by the game room to sit down. The man was watching TV and doing nothing else in the game room and we asked if we can sit by the tables outside of the game room. The man's character was very nasty towards us and as I asked multiple questions, he was very rude and kept telling us to come back because the game room opens at 11 am, which didn't make sense since a sign said the game room opens at 8 am and the tables to sit down weren't outside away from the game room. He kept repeating the same thing with a negative tone towards us, possibly because we were a lot younger than he was. We had to find a shower room to work inside as he would not allow us to do our work anywhere else. The camp may have been wonderful but how an employee treats their customers is what determines the greatness of any camp. We shall never be returning here again. read more

My sister, my fiancé, and I decided last minute to go visit Key West for the last day of our spring break. We didn't plan ahead and was trying to find a place to sleep at 11:30 at night. For us, we had a 5 star stay, thankfully made it out before the seaweed issue worsened. The campground has 4 star amenities with a large heated (disclaimer in FL, it's in the eye of the beholder but it did state heated) pool, private beach although it was dirty with seaweed and had that smell (thankfully our site was no where near that situation), well maintained Marina and boat launch, fish house (cleaning station) and cool shop with everything you need or want. Oh-yes, they have a nice large size laundry facility, a campers activities area and a nice hidden or private serenity fountain garden area. Love that!! You can purchase firewood but make sure you have the over the ground fire pit. They may rent them out so check it out. Minutes to Key West downtown which makes it convenient to enjoy the fun and sight see! To some, it appears like a fortress outside of Boyd's and it does give you the feeling privacy, like a small town within the walls, and you do get a great cross breeze especially at the sites by the boating ramp also awesome tent camper sites!! They even have a floating bar - pretty cool! Our site was perfect and it felt like we had our private beach off the marina too. This is definitely a keeper! read more

I stayed here for a week at a waterfront tent site towards the end of May. This site did not have hookups which was okay. I knew this going into it. The campground is very clean. There is always staff patrolling throughout the day cleaning up. There is always someone patrolling at night as well. The staff is very helpful. They do have a little store for snacks, souvenirs, clothes, and some camping gear you may need. There are lots of campsites. In my personal opinion they're really on top of each other and it would be better if the campsites were larger or more spaced out. There are no fire pits here, but with how windy it can get I understand. The bathrooms are pretty clean. There are several different bathrooms and shower areas throughout the campground. A suggestion I would make is to have a little trash can in each of the showers for feminine hygiene products to be disposed of. There are iguanas that hangout around the campsite along with roosters. They're pretty cool to watch. Another suggestion I would have is to maybe put down fresh sand every so often at the waterfront sites where able? The sand is pretty hard. Overall, I am happy with my experience and would come back here again! Everyone staying at the campground is super friendly as well. read more

We enjoyed Boyd's campground so much! It was clean, well maintained and staff were super friendly and helpful. I read some recent reviews with overflowing trash, we had exactly the opposite experience- seeing maintenance always working to clean and the bathrooms were some of the best we have had at a campground. Pool is great, nice laundry, gift shop and food truck. There was a security presence also. We loved watching the water and boats here. It was really windy!! read more

I went camping for the first time this weekend. Literally just bought a 30 dollar tent off Amazon prime. For those of you have never camped (like me), let's get a few things straight. Camping is suffering. Suffering. There is a reason why we invented houses. Because when winds are blowing 35 km/h and the rain is pouring, would you rather have a roof or a piece of waterproof fabric? That being said, there IS something awesome and profound about waking up every hour fearing that your shelter might blow away. It makes you appreciate what our ancestors had to put up with in the wilderness. It also makes you feel closer to the earth, both literally and metaphorically. Final thoughts: Riya is a camping legend. He brought a face mask, a camouflage jacket and a even super sharp hunting knife which he poked himself with in the first five minutes. 10/10 would suffer again. read more

I dont even know much what to say. Its probably for sure great for RV but if u camp with tent make sure u dont have bigger tent then 4 ppl max or take more then one spot. Dont pay the extra $$ for power but take spot by water. With power u are squeezed between RV's and really just tent on hard ground. Good luck with parking your car. Tent spots by water have best view for sunrise, just open tent door and all show is right in front of u. Bathrooms clean. Not far from Key West down town. Best way is take A1A around. The owner's of Boyd's campground have been renting me an apartment for 3 years, perhaps illegally, and have refused to accept a coronavirus rental relief fund grant I was awarded recently to pay for 3 months of my rent at $2100 per month. When asked why they refused to accept the $6300 from Monroe County, Lynn and Bob Jones said they didn't want to fill out the IRS paperwork. They are now evicting me for nonpayment of rent, after 3 years and roughly $75000 my wife and I paid in rent, 7 days before Christmas. I highly recommend not doing business with these people. There are other campgrounds around Key West. These people are morally reprehensible. read more

One of the southernmost RV parks in the Keys, but still a bit of a drive into the main areas of Key West. (about 15 minute drive, $20 cab ride) In a commercial/industrial area of Stock Island, the neighborhood isn't the most pristine, but the park itself, while small, is tucked away on a relatively nice piece of land that juts out over the north end of the island. The camping spots are extremely small, close together and close to the road. I personally wouldn't feel safe or comfortable in a tent at Boyds. I was in a large Winnebago RV and the RV spots were adequate but definitely not roomy. The price was extremely expensive ($110+/night) for the facilities that were available. RV sewer hook ups were in odd locations often on an incline that didn't allow things to flow very easily. Wifi didn't work the entire stay and staff was not able to help. On the topic of staff, they weren't the friendliest bunch from what I experienced. read more

I wish there was an option for negative 5 stars. What a disappointment! Be prepared to hold your breath as you walk around due to the ungodly odor of rotting trash from the overflowing trash bins. Honestly, that was disgusting. Waking up in the middle of the night to the stench of garbage penetrating into your camper is something that I never want to experience again and I wouldn't want you to either. Call after call to the front desk, all with the same response, "we'll send someone out now to take care of it". Well "now" never came. My last call before I gave up, I was finally told that there was nothing they could do. The plus side to their disgusting garbage problem is that there's a free rat show when to sun comes down... sit back, relax and enjoy the show as the rats take over the park. Beware! We had a reserved spot on hold for May 8th and had paid them for this spot 2 months ago. Unfortunately, our RV's transmission unexpectedly got bad and is being replaced as I write this and we've needed to reschedule our trip to the Keys. Today, I called them to inform them that I need to cancel our stay there in 6 days. They said there will be no refund on monies holding what was supposed to be an enjoyable stay. I'm not happy being out $75.00 or their decision considering our dilemma. (Update) We tried Boyd's again(even surprised me) in June of 2020. We got into Key West on the day they opened up again after the first wave of the virus. Once we got to meet the very helpful and nice staff at Boyd's Campground we had a chance to chill and enjoy Key West. The pool, showers, and bathrooms were all good. I'm not one to hold onto a grudge(not healthy for the mind or soul)so I've decided we may stay again. It would be nice for them to reconsider or review their refund policy. read more

I liked the campground and the location. It's simple and cute but can feel quite crammed in. But it's close to the fun and an inexpensive Uber or cab ride. However the staff's attitude toward the campers can be hot and cold. Sometimes they were friendly and helpful but if you Catch them on at a bad moment they take it out on who ever is in front of them. That's pretty frustrating. read more

This is one of the best campgrounds I've ever been to. It was not crowded at all (I think because of Coronavirus) and our experience was perfect. The showers and bathrooms were clean and the staff was extremely attentive. We had a campsite right on the water, which was divine to sleep next to. They have a gift shop onsite which sells basic amenities you might have forgotten, like ice and fire wood (along with some other cool gifts). They also have a swimming pool and a game room that's complete with a pool table, television, and tables. Each campsite has it's own grill. By the swimming pool, there is also another hang out room that has a television, life-sized Jenga, and board games. It was such a great experience. I'm sure the experience would have been different if the site had been booked at 100% capacity, but I will definitely be back in the future. read more

For me is a 3 stars. They do have everything set up nice and clean, the camp is very quiet and it has a kinda of nice view to a whole bunch of boats. I guess the experience depends on what you bring to camp and how well you set it up. For me this will be the 1st and last time tho, i think is too hot in florida to do this. I would rather pay a couple hundred bucks for a hotel and not having to load up my car with things to eat and drink than to go thru this. Its 6pm now, i hope tonight goes well. read more

I would not recommend taking kids to the campground. We were with a group and they had a pedifle there. He touched two of our kids and he ended up arrested. Now we are being bothered by the security guard at night for hanging out.i am definitely not happy with the campground. These spots are tighter than a straight man's ass walking down Duval street. The smallest spots I've ever seen for large RVs.. Concerned you can't get it in? (Let's be real, all men have trouble putting it in the hole.) They have pro's who will park for you. To the people complaining about the price... dude, it's Key West! Space is at a premium, and so therefore prices are. Glad things are cheap where you live, in Podunk. We rented bicycles from the front office and its a lovely way to get around town. Now, to be fair, this is as far away from Key West you can be and still call yourself Key West. But Key West is a bike town. I recommend it. We just stayed for a weekend, but this place is geared more towards snow bids staying a while. It has planned activities, laundry, pool, showers, and a manned guard box, even through the night. read more

We have been coming here 3 times a year for the past 6 years. Last year while we were here we reserved a particular spot for our 5th wheel. This year, a week before we came the jack ass at the front desk changed our spot to an old tent sight. Mind you we have a 45foot 5th wheel. The spot is on of the shittiest spots in the campground. Our 5th wheel doesnt fit all the way in, and hangs out in the street, and we cant put our awnings out. Plus thete is no where to park our truck. The owner doesnt offer any help or solutions. He is a big asshole who only cares about how much money rolls in the gate, not about repeat customers. We wanted to cancel but they dont give refunds. Also you are looking at over $700.00 for 5 days. With nothing to offer. *Oh a restaurant that is never open* Bottom line, there are other campgrounds. We will not return here. They have ruined our week long stay here. This sucks !!!! read more

I guess the sites were small...we've stayed in smaller...I will take EXTREMELY well maintained, friendly staff & very clean facilities any day!! Sitting on the dock watching the boats come in & sun go down was just dreamy! It was so relaxing. We enjoyed ourselves so much that our last day we just spent hanging at the camper. This is about the only place to camp if you want to visit Key West. We were there during Fantasy Fest - it got packed. As the other reviewer states, the sites are very small. The neighborhood surrounding the park isn't the nicest but we never felt unsafe at Boyd's. They even had security at night. We found the staff to be extremely friendly. They worked hard to keep the place clean. The wifi worked really well until the place got crowded. Just too many people surfing the net. If you want to get to Duval, plan on about a 5 mile walk. The bus stops just outside Boyd's. It's $2 a person each way or $8 for a weekly pass. But don't plan on staying out too late if you take the bus. And a cab ride is $20-22. It's a good choice if you need a campground for your Key West visit. read more

The campsites are very small, and they sure do pack you in. We reserved and paid for a waterfront spot. If you're from a landlocked state like Indiana, you may as well pay the extra $10/day to stay on the water, right?). Well... we certainly weren't right on the water. We were a couple spots from the water. Even if we were on the water, the 'beach' was so tiny that it wouldn't have really mattered. With any additional taxes or fees, Friday and Saturday nights on the water, with one tent was $200- This was end of February. I believe Boyd's may be near a Naval base. You can hear planes flying around, which was kind of cool, but many people may not like it. We could see the interstate from our camp spot, which really kind of sucked. read more

Key West is expensive...that's the reality! So if you're a broke-ass hippie fool like me, your options are limited...even the hostel is $50/night!!! So if you're with a group, this place is a pretty good deal. Two friends and I shared a waterfront tent site here for about $80/night. Better deal than the hostel, but the ambiance was kinda weird -- closely surrounded by retired RVers in ginormous rigs, generators humming. Woken at dawn by roosters crowing and fighter jets blasting off from the nearby air base -- even earplugs don't help! I wore the silicon in-ear kind, PLUS a wraparound sleep mask that covers my ears, and I could still hear everything. Those jets are LOUD, and right across the bay. The ground rumbles when they take off at 7am every morning, so don't expect to sleep in. Sites are jammed in literally cheek-to-jowl -- our waterfront site had zero shade, just a picnic table and a BBQ grill jammed in between two fake white picket fences and a couple of spindly palm trees. No buffer whatsoever from the blasting wind, or from the neighbors -- they are all up in your business, and yes you can hear your neighbors snoring. No fire pits, but you can build a campfire on the ground. No water at the site -- must walk to bathrooms. The ground is really hard, but staking your tent is recommended -- we didn't, and ours was almost destroyed by the wind...which can be FIERCE on the waterfront sites! On the plus side, the place is VERY clean, and the restrooms are nearby and immaculate. If you want a hot shower, my advice is to walk a ways to the big bathhouse near the checkin area -- the water was hotter and the pressure better in there. Campground is kinda far from the action, way up on Stock Key. But you are in walking distance to the fabulous Hogfish Grill, plus the Tom Thumb quickie mart, Jolly's liquor store, Burger King and CVS. The bus into Key West is fairly convenient to ride in....but after 7pm the schedule is pretty sparse, so make sure you head back early. If /when I return to Key West, I would probably not stay here again. Sure, it's a value of sorts......but overall it's a pain in the ass for what you pay. I'd probably cough up $50 for the hostel, next time. read more
