These guys are amazing! We recently purchased a new home and had some issues with our circuit breaker after moving in. An entire wall in our kitchen went out, leaving us without power for our refrigerator. While we were able to salvage some of our food via a crafty extension cord, we still needed power back ASAP. We called over a dozen different local Oakland electricians. Most responded "too busy," or gave us availability two weeks out. Boyes, however, was able to come over the next day to take a look. Upon arrival, Omar quickly determined the root issue (a loose wire). He was able to fix the circuit in about 30 minutes, and we're back to normal. Best of all - the final price came a bit lower than their rate, which was already super reasonable. I can't recommend Boyes enough if you're in need of quick and affordable electric work. Boyes Electric installed new track lighting for us in our living room and family rooms. After giving us a thorough onsite estimate, they arrived to do the job. We didn't have all the right parts for the fixtures we had ordered and they helped us understand the correct parts that would be needed. Then they waited patiently for us to reschedule once the parts arrived. We have extra high ceilings that required a telescopic ladder to reach, but it was no problem for Raul and Dylan when they came back the second time to do the work. They were very knowledgeable and skilled even with our extra high ceilings. They brought all the right right equipment and made sure all our furniture was properly covered and protected with plastic before they started. They did a great job with the installation and once they were done, they patiently worked with us to position each of lights on the tracks the way we wanted them. They were very neat, leaving everything exactly as they found it when they finished the job. We had gotten other quotes for less money, but Boyes made us feel confident that they could get the job done right and they did not disappoint. I called Borin at Boyes Electric and he offered to come out on last minute notice to fix it even though he was in Oakland and would have to drive out to Oakley during rush hour, a horrendous drive during traffic. He came over earlier than expected despite traffic and the problem turned out to be a lot easier than it initially seemed. I asked him to look at another electrical issue on the other side of my house and he was able to fix that too. He was friendly, personable, and priced fairly, especially considering the time of night he came out. I will definitely use him again if I need detailed electrical work done in my house. These guys are amazing. From first contact with Sal, to the installation crew and finalizing all the work with Borin, the customer service and craftsmanship was top knotch. We hired Boyes Electric to replace our old fuse box with a new 200amp breaker box, add recessed lighting to our living room (including ground rod), install a Nest thermostat to an old furnace, hardwire a Ring doorbell and remove a living room sconce. They're customer service was great, price came in lower than competitors (we got 4 different bids) and they're the only company we talked to who also patched holes! They also went above and beyond diagnosing our Nest thermostat and handled all permits/communication with the city and PG&E, so everything was up to code. Angel Villasenor did a great job. I have a rental house in Davis, CA and the tenants damaged 2 outlets. Angel spent the time examining the existing conditions in regards to grounding, type of wiring, how the outlets are wired to the main circuit breaker...etc. After careful assessment, he informed me of my options and the costs related to each option. When installing the wiring under the house in the crawlspace and replacing the receptacle, he made sure not to damage the hardwood floors and drywall. I greatly appreciated the care into not damaging the existing wall and floor. I cannot speak for all technicians of Boyes Electric, but Angel Villasenor did a great job on this repair. I have an apartment that was built in 1960. One outlet started sparking and the fire dept cut outlet and tapped up. Sal come out to fix the outlet and told me that loose outlets can cause a fire so I had him quote total replacement of three units. The quote was fair and I went ahead to replace all outlets. Borin is the top tier type of electrician you would want to work with. He is prompt, dependable, clear on communication, clear on expectations, has reasonable prices, and he is friendly, too. He changed out a broken duct system in our house with a solid diagnosis of issues and fast service. I will be asking for his help again on our next project to add power to another outside unit. Contacted Boyes Electric for a consultation on a commercial property in Oakland measuring 30,000 square feet. On 06/27/2022, they dispatched an agent, Sal. The Sal arrived late. When he arrived on site,  I texted him that I was waiting, and he responded that he was on the phone with a call. I remained patient. He finally examined my panels and informed me he would have a bid within two to three days. I waited for the bid no response. I was required to call the office three times to request that Sal send me a bid. Sal called me after my third call to the office and said he would have it by Monday (it's been three weeks since he arrived for the consultation). Today is Monday, 7/18/22. No bid. It was a waste of my time. If they are unresponsive to submitting a bid, I will not entrust them with the job, as they may also be unresponsive to the job itself. read more

They asked if I'd prefer a phone call or an in-person visit, I decided in-person and they gave me a date and a 2 hour window, several days later. The estimator was a no-show after the 2 hours and when I called, they said "oh, he must have written my phone number down wrong and decided not to come." Borin responded to my Yelp message promptly and coordinated a time for a site visit to provide an estimate. He is very professional, courteous and friendly, and his estimate was by far the lowest I received. I appreciated that he was willing to work with me even though I wanted to do the majority of the work myself. He offered to assemble and install the ceiling fan but I told him I could do that, and just wanted the new switch to be wired. The day we set up to work was perfect for me, and he gave me a window of between 8:00 am - 12:00 pm to do it in. His associate showed up in the company van first, but told me he had to wait for Borin, who didn't make it until just before 9:00. He did provide a courtesy call to explain that he would be late. I was concerned that this might mean they wouldn't be able to finish on time, but they worked quite efficiently and were done by 11:00. This is despite me having tons of questions about the process, and I have to commend Borin for his patience and knowledge of electrical wiring. He is a great teacher. There were a couple of small changes to the work as quoted but this did not affect the price. For example, although I had much of the hardware (outlet boxes, switches, etc), and offered to use them, Borin offered (and preferred to use) his own boxes and switches, and we ended up needing to install another 15 Amp circuit in my panel (so that more lighting could be added in the future). Despite these additions, the project cost matched the estimate, which I very much appreciated. I would definitely work with Boyes Electric again in the future. read more

Ramon and team were outstanding and safe as they wore masks throughout the entire process. Ramon is easy to communicate with and gave me great electrical advice as I changed my mind half way through the project regarding the recessed lighting in my ceiling. He showed me pictures of the lights that he suggested and now I have 4 smooth and modern looking recessed ceiling lights that look a lot better than I had originally planned. Ramon was also very informative and clear on the order of events that would take place, meaning when we should paint, schedule inspection etc to work around our required electrical phases. He also did some digging work himself to make sure my conduit was buried correctly after my concrete guy left. The other thing that made Ramon great is that he was able to respond quickly to my text and phone calls. My other contactors weren't easy to schedule in work as well as Ramon is able to.
