Burger with Tater Tots
Caroline J.

Craving a burger and heard this was a place to go to get your burger on and it did not disappoint! Visited on a Saturday evening after a hike football game and it was busy and loud inside but typical for a college restaurant/bar. There are high top tables by the bar, booth seating on the side and tables and booths up on a platform. There also is seating upstairs. They did not have the scantron sheets available to customize your burger due to it being busy but the regular menu is good as well. I ordered the all-American and added raw onion and pickle with the curly fries! Big burger and a very generous portion of the fries. All were excellent! Husband for the burger that included egg, avocado, bacon and spicy he loved it as well! He got his with tater tots and also had a generous portion. Server was attentive and sweet! Food arrived quickly and was hot when delivered!

Awesome service and burgers!! Our waitress kept our dogs' water bowl full and the level of customization possible on their burgers is so great. We love stopping in here for lunch and a beer when in town! Highly recommend, during busy times try to get a reservation first.

Burgers and truffle fries!

Good food, big portions. Great burger selection. OK beer selection. Truffle fries were great with plenty to share. Burger was a little under seasoned, but the bun and all toppings were great! Definitely a college bar crowd. Our server was awesome and the food came out super quick. Overall a great spot!

The Boylan servers are usually pretty sweet and attentive however one of the managers is consistently rude to college aged kids. She has made some rude remarks and tried to kick us out of tables even when no one is at the restaurant. I understand the food industry must be super difficult to work in but I do wish she was a little more friendly to customers that haven't done anything wrong.

This is a solid burger joint! The staff were quick and very friendly, and the burgers were really good! My only complaint was that the burgers were a little messy and the burger patty slipped and slid around the bun a bit. Otherwise, the fries and burger were really good! We got the All American Burger and Room 121 burger.

Outside of being UVA's hotspot from Thursday-Saturday night, Boylan Heights has some of the best food in Charlottesville. Their burgers have always been a fan favorite especially when paired with their cheesy tots and milkshakes! The restaurant is also the one with the coolest aesthetic on UVA's corner with dope decorations, lighting, and ambiance. You even order your food on a scantron! They used to have the BEST QUINOA PATTY that was perfect for me as a vegetarian. Although the new patty isn't the same (pre-2019), Boylan's veggie burger still hits the spot. I'm excited to hit it up again on my next visit!

Wahoo

Get the Wahoo! Boylan isn't my favorite late-night bar on the corner, but it's a decent sports bar to hang out and grab a casual drink and bite with fiends. The Wahoo is awesome and is a must-get when here. The After School Special House ACC sauce is tasty, and has a nice sweet and savory flavor. I've also ordered the Truffle Parmesan Fries for the table before. I thought they were good but not amazing.

Good bar food and atmosphere. Great porch to enjoy tritchers and Mozz Sticks. Have trivia every Wednesday which is always packed. Fun time go hoos. Great sports bar

Again, average bar food. Ordered the all American no mustard. If you're starving like me, of course it's gonna taste phenomenal. But my tastebuds are objective. In reality, it isn't special. It's just your average burger.

Food: i chugged the cookies and cream bailey's alcoholic milkshake. It was so good and i was super hungry. I ordered a double shot and I didn't feel anything/taste the alcohol. If I knew that would be the case, I would just order a regular milkshake. The wings were the best wings I've had in a long time. They were big and juicy. I got Buffalo wings just to play it safe since that flavor is hard to mess up. They also have dry rub and their signature spicy bbq flavor. I was full and happy and would stop there again if i was in town. Service: my only complaint is my table of 4 asked for things to come in a certain order. We wanted the appetizer (nachos and fries) to come before the meals since we were hungry and wanted to snack a bit. Since the staff brought everything out at once my friends didn't have the energy to finish their burgers. They serve large portions so it helps to get it in parts instead of all at once. Ambiance: we ate outside since it was close to sunset and cool outside. There's not much to add since there isn't decoration or music outside but at least it was clean on the patio.

While visiting Charlottesville for a wedding we wanted to go out and have a few drinks at a local place. We stumbled upon this college bar right off campus and settled on it for the evening. The car is pretty large. There is an outdoor patio and an upstairs area but we stayed in the main atrium near the main bar. They didn't have any food outside of chips and salsa available that night, so we just got drinks. The signature cocktails on tap weren't too bad. They were large and cheap and really reminded me of being in college. Lots of sugar and shitty liquor. It was a good time!

Vaping at the bar.

There is ample space and there are ample TVs. If you like to sit outdoors, there is great space for that too. They even put up a corn hole game for some friendly fun. There are games inside too. The food is typical bar food. It's tasty but can be greasy. But there are some must have menu items. The Lazy Parrot Fries with cheese and bacon and homemade ranch are KILLER.... Some of the best fries I have ever had. And they are largely consistent with them. I have ordered them on at least 12 occasions and only once have they come out subpar. The pizzas are incredible too. Never disappointed. I go for the sausage , but have tasted others. All good. The boneless wings are as good as any, but I have not found a go-to sauce here.they have a million sauces. Really. But u can't get two on an order of 10 wings. That makes it hard to try new ones because if u don't like the new one, ur stuck with an order of wings u can't eat. The only complaint I have about this place is that sometimes the staff doesn't know what's hot in sports, so the TVs don't often keep up and u might have to ask for a change. And...the. Lights. Are. Too. Sterile. And bright. I don't know if I am at a bar, or in the emergency room. I wish they stayed open past 11....but you can squeeze a good time in before 11 if you go there. Again...highlights are a great, wonderful staff and consistent bar food.

Total came out to approximately $60, not including tip. What's hot - Quality. Delicious. Hubby really liked their sweet potato fries. Slightly crispy on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside. My portobello mushroom sandwich was delicious. Everything was well seasoned and the vegan cheese melted nicely with everything, which added to the flavor. Their coleslaw is listed on the menu as vinegar based, which it was and I enjoyed. Definitely a vinegar kick, but not overly so. We really enjoyed their chili cheese tots, which had a good amount of toppings, and was served warm. - Menu. Very good variety, especially vegan options. Dessert menu has vegan options, as well. - Price. Good value for money. It can cost less than $20 per person, unless you add drinks, appetizers, and/or dessert. - Service. Very good. Reliable and dependable. - Ambiance. Pretty cool that they have pinball games, video games, and a few board games and card games to play to keep you occupied. Be aware their pinball games and video games only take quarters, so you need cash. They have seating for groups of 2 up to 6. They also have scheduled events for the public, Iike trivia night. That they're open to all parts of the community, like LGBTQ, is visible and appreciated. - Parking. There are a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant. There's a larger parking lot behind the restaurant, which is helpful. What's not - Lighting. Indoor lighting is not the best, especially later in the day and when they have their curtains drawn. - Outdoor seating. On the one hand, it's nice to have outdoor seating.
