The staff was rude and unprofessional for no apparent reason, and management was no better. Went in yesterday during happy hour and paid $70 for 2 small entrees, a half side of soggy nachos, and 2 cocktail splashes. Despite the waitress pushing us to get cocktails and appetizer because of their supposed happy hour specials, we were charged full price. This is our second time at the tap house and it's still great! Not sure how it has below a 4 star rating on Yelp!! Beer rotation is great so there's always something new to try. Food is always delicious. Today, we were here for brunch and again - great experience. We tried the Sunrise Burger and the Cluckwaffle... chef's kiss. I usually don't order chicken - especially white meat - because it is easy to overcook. But it was juicy and I didn't even need any sauce (I left off the siracha aioli cuz I don't eat spicy). I love how there are so many breweries in Charlottesville. Great place to grab a beer and food. I've been a few times and really enjoyed whatever I've ordered. I recommend trying the pork belly tacos, which comes with a side of fries. One of my favs so far. They have a lot of seating as well, which can accommodate large groups. I gotta be honest this place was once one of my favorite breweries in all of cville. The location is spectacular located with IX park and walking distance from the downtown mall. The beer selection has always been great and the service excellent. All that being said the food was quite disappointing. I used to rave about this place having some of the best brewery food around but that's just not the case anymore. You'd be hard pressed to find something on the menu for a good price and good quality. There were 15 beers on the menu and they seemed to only have about 5 actually available. The waitress we had was terrible. She didn't bring my son his drink ever never refilled the water. Didnt check on us after the food was served to make sure everything was good. My husband finished his beer and she never came back. When she finally came back she was trying to get rid of us and asked if we wanted the check. We said yes. she told us the total but didn't print it out for us to look at. We came as a stop on visiting breweries and wineries. Cute area but not a lot of sit back with a beer seating (that doesn't require a fee to rent cabanas). Our server was sweet, especially since our crew can be a lot. They had tons of drink options, including great non alcoholic options. I got the golden chicken sandwich and it really wasn't quite up to par for me. Our waitress kindly took it off our tab. We did have a nice spot outside that we could sit with our dog. It's heated but I would say it could be cleaned up a little bit. It's probably fine, I might just be overly disappointed in my sandwich. Our waitress was very nice and made some good recommendations for local hiking. Update: Later after our trip management reached out to me and invited me back to give one of their locations a try. As the evening went on -this place got busy! Our server (Anna) was super chill and answered our questions and told us about the place, as well as made some food recommendations. Service 1/5 - Was not impressed with the service at all- our server barely stopped at our table and said the bare minimum. Perhaps they were stressed about the event, unclear, but 1/5 for service. Forgot to take our drink orders and we had to go into the bar to order a sampler. Bartender said it wasn't that deep since the event wasn't until 3 anyway and we were out within an hour of arriving. Menu was pretty good, had lots of different kinds of things on it. Nachos 2/5 was really looking forward to these nachos, and they were certainly big, but chicken was dry and pieces were too big to easily eat on the nacho. Not enough chips for the toppings and was disappointed because couldn't taste the lime. Mac and cheese 5/5 very good Mac and cheese. Unique to have Goldfish crumbles on top. Artichoke burger 2/5 - (vegan option) I'm a big fan of aiolis across the board, but was thrown off by the texture of the burger, squishy like play dough and easily moldable. If it were grilled I think I would have liked it more. Philly cheesesteak 3/5 great roll, as close as you can get to the real amoroso rolls up north. More meat less cheese! For starters, the parking space is spacious. The dining area is wide with multiple tables available, which was perfect since I visited with a stroller. Ambience is pretty chill, they have nice background music that isn't loud and you're able to enjoy a conversation at the table. The host sat us instantly and our server was excellent, is a shame I forgot his name. Very attentive and even brought water for my baby without even asking. Food was great, ordered the chicken tacos & the high on the hog. For drinks, ordered the local lager & the double dark chocolate biggie s'mores. My first time. This place is huge inside. It has the community table vibe going for it with long high top tables with an industrial feel. The menu had a good variety, but I went for the Shrimp Po Boy. I should have read a little more of the description. I'll elaborate in a second. My side I ordered a cup of their chili. (Cowboy style imo) We ordered their pretzel bite appetizer which was the highlight of the meal for me. I loved the stoneground mustard. Now back to the PoBoy. I got roughly 5 medium/average fried shrimp. On top of some spring mix, mealy tomatoes, and red onion. Drizzled on top of my sandwich was a black sauce of some sort. This is the part I missed on the description. I did not like it at all. When reviewed the menu again is described it as an "Ash Aioli". I had to ask the server what that was. She replied a black garlic and onion sauce. It was a huge miss for me. I only ate the shrimp and dipped them in the mustard mentioned before to overcome the "ash sauce". On top of that it was $18 which really made disappointing. The chili was mediocre and had no heat. I do want to try this place one more time to see if it gets better. Fingers crossed. read more

Three Notch'd has been my go to place to take family visitors or even just a night out for over 4 years. I'll never go back after how I was treated tonight. My son has special needs, I brought two bean tacos so he could enjoy family dinner with us. He had two bites left when a waitress rudely says "you can't eat in here." I respectfully asked if he could finish his 2 bites as he has special needs with a limited diet. She asked if I wanted the manager, who cut me off and didn't even let me explain claiming it's FDA law that they don't allow outside food, of which I later found out was not the manager. I respected the request and left, even after confirming there are no FDA laws prohibiting outside food. We sat on a bench in the entry way behind closed doors not near the restaurant. At which point the actual manager came out and asked me to leave the premises. That he could not have food anywhere near the restaurant, resulting in us standing in the parking lot so he could finish. I tried to find an outdoor trash can to respect their rules, when I couldn't find one I went in side and asked if there was an exterior trash can and the same guy who said it couldn't be on premise volunteered to throw it away. So it's ok to be on premise at that time. I asked if they could tell me the specific "law" as I've seen other kids with food and he could not provide me an answer. I understand rules, but the attitude of the staff and how we were treated was so disgusting. And to think dogs and dog treats are allowed? It was very unsettling to have a manager follow me out when I wasn't anywhere near the kitchen, food, or tables (again behind closed doors) still forcing us out of the restaurant and then taking the food at the end to throw it away. I hope he washed his hands before serving the next party to avoid "contamination." read more
