The Lazy Parrot is a great bar. The bartenders are always wonderful. I always look forward to seeing them. The drink specials are always cool too. There is ample space and there are ample TVs. If you like to sit outdoors, there is great space for that too. They even put up a corn hole game for some friendly fun. There are games inside too. The food is typical bar food. It's tasty but can be greasy. But there are some must have menu items. The Lazy Parrot Fries with cheese and bacon and homemade ranch are KILLER.... Some of the best fries I have ever had. And they are largely consistent with them. I have ordered them on at least 12 occasions and only once have they come out subpar. The pizzas are incredible too. Never disappointed. I go for the sausage , but have tasted others. All good. The boneless wings are as good as any, but I have not found a go-to sauce here.they have a million sauces. Really. But u can't get two on an order of 10 wings. That makes it hard to try new ones because if u don't like the new one, ur stuck with an order of wings u can't eat. The only complaint I have about this place is that sometimes the staff doesn't know what's hot in sports, so the TVs don't often keep up and u might have to ask for a change. And...the. Lights. Are. Too. Sterile. And bright. I don't know if I am at a bar, or in the emergency room. I wish they stayed open past 11....but you can squeeze a good time in before 11 if you go there. I love this place. Ambiance is fantastic. People watching is without a doubt the best in cville. The people that come here are certainly something else. The vibes of a beach bar seem out of place but for some reason work so well. Outdoor seating area is amazing. Heaters, plenty of TVs, and high top tables. Can't beat it. The food is cheap and of solid quality. You'd be hard pressed to not find something on their vastly menu here. Looking for a beer pub/dive bar to get a bar food fix? Look no further as that's exactly the feel you'll get here. Appetizer ordered was bacon cheese fries with yummy waffle fries which would have been great had there been some gooey cheese to enjoy rather than overcooked crispy cheese. We ordered a 25 wing platter as that was the best option for trying more than 1 sauce as you only get one sauce option for 10 wings, you also have to pay extra if you want all flats. Wings were ordered extra crispy and came out just right. Dry spice was bland with a little heat, honey BBQ was average, oddly enough it was hard to tell the difference between honey mustard and spicy golden garlic, and hot buffalo was more of a med/mild heat. Ordered a kids corn dog with fries and we were served over-fried corn dog minis so you may want to clarify if a corn dog is what you are getting. Forgot about leaving a review here, so let me catch up!! Overall Lazy Parrot has been a pretty solid lunch stop for me and my work force. Between all of us we have experienced a good portion of the menu. Everything from the wings (boneless and traditional), sandwiches (Hot and sweet heated & Cassie delight etc), pizza (for it's designated weekly special), their salads (chef & tender salads), some of lazys wraps/quesadillas, side items and the ribs. Lazy has great/nice sized quality bone-in wings and the boneless wings aren't bad either if you are into that. The parrot provides an endless list of sauces that anyone can pull something they like from. The wraps and sandwiches and salads are usually on point with freshness. Portion vs Prices are also a positive here. As for the ribs, these are supposed to be stellar and a staple from what I've heard (under the wings of course). Our experience is the opposite. They have been dry and overcooked with zero flavor if eaten without sauce. The ribs are one of lazy parrots weekly specials and it seems like they are cooked before hand and then reheated. Anyone that has ordered them before (including myself) did not finish or truly begin eating them... The staff from my point of view genuinely care if you have what you need and will go the extra mile to fix any issues (thanks Melissa, Peggy and others). They are enforcing mask wearing and Covid protocols. The interior/exterior are decently clean (could use a deep cleaning but not nitpicking). The men's bathrooms need attention especially since the toilet area doesn't have an operational locking handle. From what advertisements are around the restaurant LP provides great beer and wine specials and also cornhole and a self serve Bw3s style video bar game. My top notable mentions: *Hot & Sweet Heated (Add bacon & ex napkins) -Thin sliced roast beef heated and topped with provolone cheese and sweet heat. The Lazy Parrot has been a frequent visit of mine over the years, I mostly go to watch sports, but today I finally decided to review the food. I usually get the boneless wings and frys, which is a great price, it's around $11 for a whole mess of wings and frys. I usually switch up the wing sauce, today I got the jalapeño ranch, it was pretty tasty, not as spicy as I would've expected though. Overall, the food is always pretty solid, especially for the price, but... The wait for food is always so long, usually I don't like to complain about how long the food takes, but it always takes a while here. It can be completely busy or one other table in the restaurant and the food will take a while, still. Went there looking for a takeout and asked waitress for menu and her recommendations. We took a little bit of time deciding and when we were ready, our waitress was no longer in sight. No one else checked in on us. We had to flag someone down to say we're ready to order. Much to our surprise, we were then told that they are not doing takeout service! Why didn't our first waitress say so, instead of wasting our time looking at their menu and deciding? Why wouldn't you do takeout service when we are still in midst of the pandemic? The lazy parrot has always been mediocre at best, and that might be a little too generous for this establishment. Last night me and my friends went out to spend new years together like we've been doing for the past couple of years. My one friend who has since moved to WV decided to get a beer at the bar. Everyone's ID was good to go except his because it looked suspicious for being out of state. The bartender then proceeded to take his ID to whoever was in charge and bent his valid ID in half. The cops got involved and ran his license to which no surprise it was valid. Me and my other two friends waited inside at the bar while the situation was being handled outside. The bartender then came back inside in an angry toddler like fashion and told us we had to leave.
