We came here for a Friday night, wedding weekend activity, so a bunch of friends and family of the bride were present. I love the idea of having everyone that came in from out of town have a place to get together to see the couple/family in a less serious environment, to be able to relax and enjoy each other ahead of the big day. South Street Brewery was the perfect spot for this! Everyone was able to order however much or little they wanted. The menu is vast! They do flights, so we decided to just get 2 flights to be able to try the entire menu! The NE IPAs were my favorite and the pilsners were his. We also had some wings which were very yummy! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's in a great location with lots of other shops and restaurants around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]While we took up the entire right corner of the bar area, the space was huge and plenty of room for all of the other patrons.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This was nice and close to our downtown hotel, which was especially grand considering they wouldn't let us check in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a quick walk across the railroad tracks and we were told to sit anywhere we wanted. We picked a booth[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I gotta say I'm not a fan of the bar code/phone thing to look at a menu, but no big deal. Then it was off to the counter (end of the bar) to order. Note: they did have menus up there. Loved that they had a local chardonnay from Dave Matthews winery. Husband found an Amber he liked. I carried our drinks to the table and the guy was nice enough to bring my water and silverware. Both our burgers were terrific! I got the single Hangover burger, which was plenty big enough with the addition of the egg. It was perfectly seasoned and balanced flavors. Husband loved his double. Note: fries are the way to go here as they are hand-cut.

Looking for a Sunday night late dinner. Came and ate at 7:30. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect spot for brews, football, and good food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect chill atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]A lot of types of seating: even couches for an upscale bar feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A seat and order at your pace type of place which I love! Scan the code and order at the bar. We ordered burgers and the steak frites. Friends enjoyed seasonal beers. Great quick spot & friendly staff !

Fast service! I came by for the flight and the pretzel! They had an extensive drinks list and I enjoyed all of them! As for the pretzel, it was hot and fresh, the cheese dip was so delicious! The place was huge and it felt very homey! We even received free stickers for liking them on fb and ig! Highly recommend this place.

Cuban with fries. Fries were soggy and greasy. Cuban was good.

Was able to walk in at 6 pm on Sat and pick out table. It did get busier and there were a few folks waiting for tables as we left around 7. Typical pub atmosphere. Was a little dark for me and a little cool. Service is a little strange. We have to order everything at the bar. They hand you single beers and bring flights, drinks, and food to your table. Flights were also a little strange. You have a choose of six on the left side of the menu (lighter), six on the right side (darker), or all 12. There is no picking and choosing. I went with a right side flight since I like darker beers. Beers were good. Elderberry mule was also good. Food was okay. Sandwiches were good but the fries and tots were very greasy. Also seems like a small portion of tots for the price. All in all, I'd go again, just know what to expect.

The beer list as of December 2023.

We ordered the 1/2 lb cheeseburger with cheddar cheese and jalapenos. Added tater tots. Very good and really like the taste of the burger and the tater tots did not have that greasy taste of them like some do. Very much recommend this place the bartenders were very nice and attentive.

Stopped in for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised to find out this is a Buffalo Bills bar (former upstate NY resident here). Love the Bills gear all over the restaurant. To order, you scan the QR code to view the menu and then order via the bar. Our food came out quickly and our food runner was kind. Had to try the Beef on Weck - it was pretty good. The beers are delicious - I often hear that Satan's Pony is a favorite of many. Parking was a little hard to find but there are plenty pay to park lots or if you are lucky, two hour spots available a block or two away.

Decent place to grab a beer and bite to eat if you're Downtown Mall. This brewery/restaurant has a pretty welcoming atmosphere with tons of tables, a bar area, and a mini lounge with couches and board games to play. If you decide to sit at the couch like we did, you need to place your order at the bar and your food will be brought to you. From the beers on draft (about a dozen), I decided on the Water Street Wheat. Went down pretty smooth and was pretty light. Also tried some of the shrimp from their Shrimp Basket. The shrimp were fairly large and I liked how they were not overly breaded. Fries were standard, but I did enjoy the jalapeno-corn coleslaw. Plenty of parking available along the streets, lot in front, or nearby parking garage.

Well, if there is a better burger in Virginia, send me a message I want to go on my next visit. Citizen Burger has a bunch of principles that they proudly display all over the place including above the toilet. All of those principles are great but wouldn't mean a thing if it didn't taste good. My buddy and I split some fried pickles which are the spear shaped kind and were solid. Then I ordered a Steakhouse burger and onion rings. Holy Shitballs the burger was good. A brioche bun (my favorite of the hamburger buns because of smashablity), cheddar, bacon, onion straws and bbq sauce. All of the toppings were great, but it could have just been bread and burger, and it still would have been delicious. The beer selection was large, I forgot how many were on tap, but I got a local IPA. The service was great as was the atmosphere. I will definitely come back the next time I am in Charlottesville.

I ordered the steak frites, and every bite was fantastic. The steak was cooked perfectly, the fries were crisp and flavorful, and even the horseradish crème fraîche was incredible. I'm usually not someone who gets excited about dipping sauces, but this one complemented the meal so well. The bartender was also outstanding. He recommended the chocolate mousse, saying he "could bathe in it." After trying it, I completely understood what he meant. It was rich, silky, and hands down one of the best chocolate mousses I've ever had. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Excellent food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere made this an easy five-star experience. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in Charlottesville.

The service was excellent throughout the meal. Our server, was absolutely lovely. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. She was one of the highlights of the experience. We started with the steak tartare. It was decent, but a little saltier than I would have preferred. My biggest complaint was that the accompanying bread wasn't brushed with butter or olive oil, which made it feel a bit dry and out of place alongside such a rich dish. One thing that was disappointing was the portioning of the shareable sides. The menu describes them as serving 3 to 4 people, but in our experience they were much more realistically sized for about two people. That was frustrating, especially given the overall price point. For our entrees, we ordered the ribeye, bavette, and New York strip. All of the steaks were cooked well, but I found them to be good rather than great, especially considering the price point. They just weren't particularly memorable. The ribeye, in particular, leaned a bit too far toward fatty rather than beautifully marbled, so there was more unrendered fat than I would have liked. The steak sauces were enjoyable, but they also didn't stand out in any significant way. They were well made, but nothing especially unique or memorable. Overall, I enjoyed the evening, the atmosphere, and the exceptional service. However, for a steakhouse at this price point, I expected to be more impressed by the food. Everything was solid, but nothing really wowed me or left me thinking, "I can't wait to come back." It is disappointing to have buyers remorse from such a nice restaurant.

These are fresh-cut, seasoned, & breaded, and they are ADDICTIVE! They make other ones look sad. The baked beans are cooked with brisket pieces. The sandwiches are generous, too. The meats are smoked, tender & delicious. The sauces are also handmade, not bottled. So, you're going to have sample for your preferred flavor & heat.
