    On April 16, my 2023 Chevrolet Traverse, with only 21,000 miles and still covered under the…read moremanufacturer's warranty, experienced its first transmission related issue. While attempting to back into a parking space my vehicle would not go into reverse. After waiting approximately five minutes, it finally shifted into reverse. I immediately contacted the Rockville Chevrolet dealership and was informed that they could not inspect the vehicle until the following Monday, even though I reported the problem on a Thursday. On Monday, I took my vehicle to the Rockville Chevrolet dealership. They kept my vehicle for approximately one week but ultimately stated that they could not find any problem with the transmission. After I picked up my vehicle on April 27, the same issue occurred again. When I attempted to put the vehicle in reverse, it once again would not shift into reverse. On April 29, I was instructed to take my vehicle to Ourisman Chevrolet Buick in Alexandria. Because I needed transportation while my vehicle was being repaired, I requested a loaner vehicle. I was told that I was number 22 on the waiting list, and no loaner vehicle was available. As a result, I was forced to rent vehicles at my own expense while my vehicle remained at the dealership. Ourisman Chevrolet Buick kept my vehicle until June 20, meaning it was out of service for nearly two months. During that time, I incurred approximately $2,500 in rental car expenses because I was never provided with a loaner vehicle, despite my vehicle being covered under the manufacturer's warranty. I am extremely disappointed that a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse with only 21,000 miles experienced a serious transmission problem, that the initial dealership failed to identify the issue, despite the vehicle being covered under warranty. I am requesting reimbursement for my rental car expenses and an explanation as to why a loaner vehicle was not provided during the warranty repair.

Maybe buying a car here is pleasant but don't get service here. Scheduling was an exercise of calls, emails and texts that was the worst--the app to schedule service wouldn't work for this location. The check-in associate was pleasant enough but the rest of the experience was a disaster. There was no sense of urgency, and the overall hospitality felt indifferent. My vehicle sat untouched for 30 minutes past my appointment time. The staff didn't inspire confidence either. Several employees appeared disengaged, leaning on customer vehicles and scrolling on their phones. I literally had to ask them not to lean against my car while doom scrolling. I observed this many times with my car and other cars in server area. I was also told to pay for a cabin filter that should be covered under the 15K complimentary service--on a car with only 5K miles. Questionable at best. To top it off, I brought in a recall notice and was told there was no recall, despite it being documented both in the letter and online. Frustrating and concerning. This is not luxury service you'd expect. Going forward, I'll be getting future service at Springfield or Rockville location, and GOING BACK to Volvo for my next vehicle lease.

    Big thumbs up for Prime Auto from a long-time customer…read more After dancing with with several "stealerships" over the years, I don't let anyone touch my cars (BMW 3 and 5 series, both manual transmission) except Vanna and his team. As a result, I have had no recurring problems and everything stays humming. My brother recommended Vanna to me back in 2005 and since then, they have done a lot of work on both vehicles including preventative maintenance (oil changes, tires, and shocks) as well as the occasional emergency repairs (radiator replacement, water pumps). I have a rough work schedule but everytime I need work done, Vanna is always able to accommodate and the turnaround is terrific. I've had vehicles towed to the shop during off-hours and Vanna has always been able to come to the rescue. In addition, Prime Auto was *very* helpful to me in doing a thorough check on a pre-owned 5-series that I was considering - he found several key and expensive to replace items so I brought the manifest to the dealer who repaired/replaced the items before I agreed to buy the vehicle. That same car is running great today and I attribute that to Vanna's excellent customer care and professional attention to detail. Forgive the pun, but Prime Auto has never steered me wrong - I recommend this place very highly.

Although I'm glad the neighborhood is slowly becoming more resident-friendly (folks can now enjoy their venti half-caf no whip light soy Americano's between doing some sun salutations and light sparring), it's good to see that Prime Auto is still surviving. I used to just go places with names like "Spiffy Lube" or "The Muffler Monkey" to get routine work done, but I've never had more than a two star experience at those chain places. Luckily I decided to try out Prime Auto a few years ago and haven't looked back. Vanna, the shop owner, immediately makes you feel like a long-time customer. The prices are competitive, the work is good, and they never try to up sell you on additional parts or services. My typical visit is for an oil change, which only takes them around 25 minutes. However, I have had some of my manufacturer's routine services done there. The waiting room is not nearly as nice as some of the chain places, but if your appointment is going to take hours and hours, Old Town is just a few blocks away. They will also give you a ride to the Metro if you need one, but because you have a car you probably hate Metro so I'd stick with supporting Old Town's businesses while you wait.

As a broke young professional, I came to this Exxon 3 years ago after I had neglected my car's check engine light for over 8 months. Yes I know, it was stupid but with finances low I chose to put it off instead of dealing with it head first. I brought my car here solely because it was the closest service station to my apartment where I felt my car could MAYBE make it before breaking down (for the love of god my worst nightmare would be broken down in the middle of S. Washington during rush hour. What I didn't expect was the care and respect that the owner gave me. I've been shamed by mechanics before or looked down on as a naive young person. This owner was empathetic and took the time to be completely transparent. When I went home I researched the costs of labor and parts for the services he was going to provide to get my vehicle up and running again and I was honestly getting a very good deal. When I picked my car up the next day the owner then came out to give me the keys and told me that he had a daughter my age with the same car and he was going to make sure it would go for another 100k miles. I cannot tell you how much that made me feel better. Since then I have moved out of state. Since that visit I have only had to have my battery and tires replaced which for my vehicle is pretty average maintenance wise. What I can tell you is that I have made 25 500mi+ road trips this past year in the very same car that I took into this shop thinking I would be told it was a junk car. All I have to say is not only do I trust this establishment but I can easily recommend them to others due to their fair practices and general kindness to their customers.
