Do you know that feeling when you are on the highway, far from home, and all of a sudden your car…read morestarts making a horrible shrieking sound? I hope you don't. It's a terrible feeling. But should you ever find yourself in such a spot, the answer is simple. Slow your roll. Exit the highway as soon as possible. Find a mechanic to patch you up and get you back on the road. Oh yeah, and pray to god it's not Saturday, since most reputable mechanics take their weekends off. Well, on a recent Saturday such a fate befell me and my poor Mazda5. The car is old, but in good repair. It's serviced regularly, and just recently got a clean bill of health. So that brain twisting screeching sound was really quite a mystery. Did I mention I know nothing about cars? Still, I pulled into a nearby Denny's to look under the hood to see if anything was clearly broken. I looked under the wheel well to see if some piece of metal snapped. And I saw nothing. So I hopped on the Yelp app and found that the Meineke next door was not just open, but also well reviewed. The team there saved my life. Not literally of course. As it turned out, my life was never in danger. But they were able to get my car on the lift, and take it out on road, all within about an hour of my showing up. They determined that it was nothing. Maybe it had been something. Whatever small piece of road debris had gotten into the wheel well, had apparently worked itself out. They could have told me something was wrong with the bushings. I could have been taken for hundreds of dollars at that moment. But instead, they sent me back on the road with a smile, and refused to take any money for their time. Sure, they didn't actually fix anything. But their trained eye gave me peace of mind. And that's worth a lot. Thank you random Meineke. You guys rock.

They saw me at the end of the day which was cool, but I came in for a tire that keeps going flat,…read morelow brake fluid, and worn pads/rotor. I ask if they found the hole in the tire and they tell me it's the TPM sensor and it's gonna be expensive to replace. I've been filling the tire up with air every 2 days for weeks. Either they didn't even look at my car or they don't know what their doing. If you don't got time at the end of the day to look at my car that's fine, but don't lie to my face. *Update* Went to another mechanic and they said I had a bad tire valve stem and replaced immediately.

The recovery and customer satisfaction efforts are underwhelming to say the least. On Wednesday,…read morethe Newburgh Manager called me and left me a voicemail to call him. At 530pm I called him to get an apology and affirmation that he read my review. He wanted me to stop by before close of business so that they could inspect my car. When I said that I am not near Newburgh and I won't be able to make it. I was told to go to the Middletown location the next day. Not asked, told. The manager didn't listen to anything I said but rather needed me to go to a shop on his terms. Instead of asking how they could make it better or what I was looking for, I was told what they were going to do. Instead of asking when I was available or what worked better for me, I was told when I needed to go. I reached out to email I was provided in this thread twice since the call with the manager, to no response. So that's it. Valvoline reached out and did their part, the customer is disgruntled and efforts cease. Clap, clap, clap. At this point I was have felt more pacified by a refund or voucher for a free oil change. One of the worst oil change experiences, top five in worst customer service escalations and resolutions and the top when it comes to dissatisfaction on so many levels. Go to local mechanics or even car washes that offer the SAME service for almost $50 cheaper.

In one of those amazing moments of life I purchased a new car and only 3 days later I turn it on…read moreand my back right tire is leaking air. Hoping it was nothing I surveyed my tire to discover the culprit a screw that had lodged itself into the tread. Only to add to this it is the day before Thanksgiving and you can imagine everyone and anyone is getting work done. I walked in was greeted by friendly desk staff who asked a few questions waited about 5 minutes and my car was seen. The fix is a plug that is internal and permanent which is nothing out of the ordinary but what I appreciated is them assuring me if the leak was in a place to close to the edge they would not be able to fix it and wouldn't waste my time. Sounds obvious but I can't name the amount of times you walk into a auto repair and start to feel the dread of getting taken advantage of. My car was attended to and in about 20 minutes on my way I went. It was $39 plus tax, which you can dispute if expensive or not but given I walked in and out in under an hour day before a major holiday, they will get 5 stars from me!

Monro Muffler/Brake & Service came through when I needed it most!…read more I was two hours away from home with a flat tire and nowhere to turn. Monro Muffler/Brake & Service didn't just help--they went way above and beyond. Tel, the technician helping me, stayed after closing just to make sure I could get back on the road safely. That kind of dedication and kindness is rare these days. He was professional, quick, and genuinely cared about helping me out of a tough spot. I can't recommend this place enough--ask for Tel if you can. He's a real one.
