The recovery and customer satisfaction efforts are underwhelming to say the least. On Wednesday, the Newburgh Manager called me and left me a voicemail to call him. At 530pm I called him to get an apology and affirmation that he read my review. He wanted me to stop by before close of business so that they could inspect my car. When I said that I am not near Newburgh and I won't be able to make it. I was told to go to the Middletown location the next day. Not asked, told. The manager didn't listen to anything I said but rather needed me to go to a shop on his terms. Instead of asking how they could make it better or what I was looking for, I was told what they were going to do. Instead of asking when I was available or what worked better for me, I was told when I needed to go. I reached out to email I was provided in this thread twice since the call with the manager, to no response. So that's it. Valvoline reached out and did their part, the customer is disgruntled and efforts cease. Clap, clap, clap. At this point I was have felt more pacified by a refund or voucher for a free oil change. One of the worst oil change experiences, top five in worst customer service escalations and resolutions and the top when it comes to dissatisfaction on so many levels. Go to local mechanics or even car washes that offer the SAME service for almost $50 cheaper. read more

Took all my valve stem caps off my tires and didn't replace them while they "checked tire pressure" had to fill all my tires with air 2 days after... Broke my passenger side glove box while checking cabin air filter.... Lost my low service valve cap.... "Checked" my headlights and tail lights but failed to tell me my passenger side brake light is out... All while trying to upsell me and replace other random things on my car that are just fine.... Employees are just messing around making jokes not paying attention letting people cut the line because they are friends. Definitely won't be coming back after that experience. read more

I normally bring my car to the dealership for my oil changes however, I couldn't get an appointment soon enough so I went to Valvoline. The staff was friendly, had my oil change and left. During a visit with Honda they noticed I had an oil leak and it was due to someone placing the wrong screw cap. Honda actually showed me the screw cap and did a mini video showing me what happened. I'm turn, I went to Valvoline and spoke with the manager Justin as well as Albert to explain what was found. At first they listen then Justin started to become defensive and wanted me to come back with the cap. I didn't feel the need to do so since I was just bringing it to their attention. Stupid me decided to give them another opportunity on a separate date and went for a back differential fluid flush. Well, I did that but the next day, my dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. I brought it back to Honda and after their diagnostic assessment, they asked who changed my fluid. When I told them they said well they never put any fluid back into the back differential. This caused the damage and now they're saying that the back differential needs to be replaced, which is a $6200 replacement. I will never go back to Valvoline! They are horrible and apparently incompetent. save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. read more

I brought my car to them to do an oil change, couple days later my car starts making a weird noise so I bring it to Honda where they pull this out of my hood and needless to say it was clearly left in my hood while my oil change was being done. When I brought it back to Valvoline as soon as I walked through the door the technician ask "is that one of our lights" LOL this company is a joke. Do not bring your car here for your own sake. They did give me back my last oil change but they kept trying to give me a "free oil change" for the next time as if I would really bring my car back there read more

The Good: The place is run with military precision, which pretty much guarantees fast service for sure. They use quality products and are a generally friendly bunch . The Bad: If you get anything but an oil change at this place, chances are you're going to pay way more than you should. In fact, their oil change. prices are pretty high. They charged me thirty dollars for two three dollar lightbulbs - not kidding. The only reason I paid it was because I needed them to pass inspection and I was in a real time crunch. On top of that when I told them I had a $7 coupon, they forgot to use it. When I asked them to re-process my invoice so that I could have my seven dollar discount, I was told that it would be very time consuming and they didn't want me to wait three days for my credit so instead, they would give me a credit for my next oil change. Hmmmmm. Pretty sure that's longer than three days. The Ugly. After charging me $30 for two lightbulbs and forgetting my seven dollar coupon, the vehicle ended up failing inspection. Great. Across the board. Easy to schedule an appointment for inspection. I got there a few minutes ahead of time and was greeted as I parked. They got my car in on time. The waiting room was clean and comfortable as was the rest room. Everything was smooth and everyone was friendly. If I could give less stars, I would. I bring my vehicle to the same place for inspections and oil changes now for years. I brought my vehicle here a few weeks ago for inspection. I was told brakes and tires were good. I am currently in Virginia, started having a squeak from rear wheel and decided since I'm 400+ miles away from home to have it checked. Not only were my rear brakes just about metal on metal, my one rear tire also had wires showing. So, new brakes and tire needed before I can even drive home. Love this place! I normally support my local mechanic but often he is too busy so I rely on this location for a quick oil change. They give me my oil change and I'm back on the road minding my business, no pressure on up sells. They even do vehicle inspections here but that can get very busy in the summer so arrive early. read more

Save yourself time and take it across the street to Midas!!! They are cheaper and include a free tire rotation with every oil change which is recommended so your tires don't wear. This place charges $29.99 for a tire rotation. I found out that Midas was cheaper an hour after getting my oil changed at valvoline. I paid an extra $29.99 for my tire rotation at valvoline and an extra $10 for an oil change. I called customer service and asked if there was anything they could do and they said they would have the regional manager contact me. The regional manager contacted me and told me he can only give me back up to $10 and since I already used a $8 coupon for the full synthetic oil change, I won't only get 2 more dollars back. Having never been to a Valvoline business, didn't know what to expect. Initially, staying in the car while 2-3 people went over a 900 point checklist on my car was ok, however while someone got into my car to access the cabin air filter through the glovebox(!), I started to grow impatient as the oil wasn't being changed but a checklist I didn't ask for was being conducted. Then they hit me with the bill which was $100+. For an oil change. It felt like an inadvertent ambush by Valvoline. So, way too expensive for me. Never again. read more

So fast and easy I didn't even have to leave my car! And the whole things started with a system check, lights and function. When I pulled in it was a rush of all hands on deck with these guys. The pricing is abysmal for a oil change alone. Then during the service the sales pitches come out. "You need a air filter" "you need new wipers" etc. It's not worth the price or the hassle. The quick service is a myth, you'll end up being there for hours unless you go with the 'Black Friday' shopping strategy of parking there an hour before they even open. I go here every 3 months for my synthetic oil change since I have a supercharger. The staff is always friendly and whoever approaches my car when I pull up is always smiling and tells me they'll take care of me right away which makes a customer feel appreciated. Only reason I gave 4 of 5 stars is because they're always trying to upsell me something. I'll be in a rush and then witness through the window a worker popping panels to reach my cabin filter. At least put it back correctly bro smh. But good overall. read more

I had a 2 hour wait for an oil change, They took people who came in AFTER me first, and to top it off I got a basic oil change and no extras and it cost me 42.80. I've been coming here for the past decade and have never experienced an issue. I was reminded today of why like doing business here. I stopped in for ac service and it was quickly identified that I had a leak in my ac line. The tech working on my car showed me the issue and an audible leak of air pressure could be heard. I was expecting to be charged for even having been hooked up but the front desk person did not charge me at all, and recommended a good shop across the street from their location. Great team, professional, and reasonably priced. One thing to remember about this place is first come first serve, so if you come in at 12pm on Saturday your probably going to wait a while, so don't whine. read more

I actually just signed up for Yelp! because I had such a good experience here. I called in the late morning asking about dropping my car off for an inspection. A man answered the phone and very graciously said they would be happy to. I dropped the car off, and the inspection was done I think within two hours, even with a moderately busy lot. The woman who took my information at the end was kind and actually seemed cheery/joyful (something I've not really seen at a shop before). The payment was right, and they didn't suggest any additional work. The mechanics seemed to be hard at work all day. I didn't have anything major done here, but I still would recommend it, at least for an inspection. read more

They are OK. Today, they serviced my car quickly and did not try to up-sell. I was happy about both. As I was paying, I was asked if I would like an email receipt, and I agreed. No paper was printed. Now, 5 hours later, no email receipt. Checked spam, and it isn't there either. I called the Newburgh store, and was told to come by for a printed copy. I don't want to drive by again, I just want the email sent. He said it was sent and they can't send it a second time and he reiterated I should come by. He said I'm not the first person to call with this issue. Sometimes their modem is really slow and I may get the receipt at the end of the day, and if I don't, then come by for a printout. I wouldn't have opted for the email had the told me any of this in advance. Well, I just bumped them up a star. I wrote this review on Yelp and another on Facebook, and customer service contacted me ... not from the Newburgh location, but they sent me the receipt very quickly. Even with a $15 coupon I paid here more than I had ever paid in other Valvoline locations that I had used in the last four years (Albany, Fishkill) for a full synthetic oil change. Decent, friendly service and not too much pressure to add services and items. $37.83 is not $19.99, and tire rotation would be nice, but it's a competent service at a bearable price. Quite good compared to some of the local competition, which really push to add other services. read more

Just figure out if you bring your car for inspection only. Your car will be the last on the line to be done if other cars come in for other works because their jobs cost more than just an inspection. If no other jobs other than your car then they will do your car. BEware! read more
