The two stars are for the ambiance and music. It was nice to sit by the water with a DJ. The food and drinks are another story... On a positive note - the servers were very kind. Now for the feedback: -I ordered Tito's on the rocks and what I was served was absolutely not Tito's. -The Captain's Table meals are not worth it. At a $40 price point I expected more. I got the tuna and chose coleslaw as my sides. The fish was tough and the coleslaw serving size was actually laughable. It came in those little cups that condiments usually come in and it was like 1/3 full. I find their lobsters to be good on average. The mussels are good and so are the fries. I came here for a lobster dinner a few weeks back after spending the day at Long Island where Dad grew up in. The staff are nice and so are customers. The only downside is parking. It's a tough time finding good parking spots especially during busier weekends considering that it's down closer to the ocean and with Freeport being it's one of Long Island's tourist destinations, it's normal to find yourself have to walk past a couple of other buildings just to get there. read more

It was a beautiful day to enjoy dinner in Freeport. My friends wanted to try this location so we sat by the water which was a beautiful view of the pier. I will admit that I did not like the service. I felt like the waitress only stopped by to take our order in the beginning but was not attentive after we got our food or drinks. She did not stop by to ask if we need anything and we had to keep flagging her down to ask for anything. The food itself was ok; we ordered the cold seafood platter which has lobster, shrimp cocktails and oysters. Everything was fresh but it was $70 which was a lot. The drinks were ok, they did not hit the spot like they should. The prices are elevated and weren't great for what we ate or drank. I should have read the reviews before dining here, but I was in the area and wanted some fresh seafood. The restaurant is right on the water and honestly that is the one thing I enjoyed. The drinks were ok. I had a mango mojito it tasted like there wasn't any alcohol in it. Tasted like mango juice and mint. The fresh clams were good but the horseradish it was served with looked like it was previously frozen and thawing. The soft shell crab was ok definitely not worth the $39. I was here on Sunday - there was a lady there who looked like she was intoxicated off something idk.. then the next bartender that helped us told us she couldn't see after she made us 2 rum punches that were not the same drink and light pink.. not sure why they have someone who can't see working the bar.. but I left that bar feeling all types of disoriented after drinking only a little bit. . This was my first time visiting Nautical Mile, and Bracco's was NOT the best choice of a restaurant. When we first arrived there was no one at the door, some random guy had to call one of the waitresses over to assist us. Once we sat down, we waited for someone to greet us, they were so unstructured that 4 different waitresses came at separate times attempting to take our order, after we had already put in for drinks with the first one. The food was not it AT ALL... I ordered a frozen pina colada, you couldn't even taste the alcohol. For appetizers we had the wings (which was the best thing we ordered), but they literally just threw them in the plate. The mussels came out as a hefty serving but a lot of them still had the beard attached and it appeared as if they were cooked in just water and garlic. The shrimp tacos were TERRIBLE. They tasted as if a child prepared them at home. I was very displeased with the tacos. Also, The French fries came out cold . The food was a straight up disappointment. The restaurant itself was old looking. The bathrooms were terrible and dirty. The tap beer wasn't working. I was really displeased. This is not my first time here, and each time it has been a good view of the water. That's really the highlight of all the restaurants on the nautical mile. We ordered the lobster bisque and it was delicious. Quite pricey (as are all the choices). The Montauk Seabass, Fish of the day, although fried, was tasty. The corn on the cob was good, albeit cool to the touch. The French fries were soft. If you like that, Yay. I'm not a fan. My niece ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer. It was "ok". The shrimp tasted fresh and it wasn't over-breaded. My brother had the seared tuna. He said it was pretty tasty. The service was good and the number of patrons were few at the hour we went, a 1pm arrival. I would have given 3 stars, but the fact that they charged us a check out fee of $4.98, really took me aback and is a slap in the face for customers. They never said what it was but I will not be back. I am vehemently opposed to businesses charging the customers for the ability to eat at their restaurant. Update to someone who replied this is a cash discount program. Who walks around with hundreds of dollars to pay cash at a very expensive restaurant? We were 3 people with two low priced entrees and an appitzer. It's more like a"we charge you because we signed up for credit card processing to benefit the restaurant not the customer". We ordered a dozen clams (they gave us 6, charged for 12), 1/2 dozen oysters, and coconut shrimp. Food is overly expensive for the amount you get, I get location but it's just not worth it. I appreciate that the waitress we had was working hard and her attitude left a lot to be desired - she did offer us a couple of free shots, and fixed the wrong pricing. Came here to celebrate my dad's birthday with my family on a sunny day. I've been here in the past for just drinks and for the entertainment, but this was my first time sitting down to eat. We arrived midday around 2pm, on a relatively busy day. Our server Lauren was very friendly and patient with us while we took time to figure out what we wanted to order (my family doesn't eat out a lot so, they needed more time than the average patron). I ordered the Brazilian jumbo shrimp with fries. Everyone else ordered a similar seafood based plate with fries as well. Mine came with a cocktail sauce and tartar sauce which paired nicely with the fried shrimp. If you've been to the Nautical Mile before, you already know a lot of people come here for the views, so not much else needs to be said about that. The views on this day were looking great although we did have to deal with the bad odor from a garbage truck which went by twice which totally blasted us with a bad smell. (Not the fault of Bracco's, but maybe the village of Freeport should be more mindful of doing garbage pick up at 2 PM midday while everyone is eating at restaurants on the mile.) A few cons: Seafood is always relatively expensive and food in general is expensive on Long Island so if you're looking for cheap eats, this is not the place. That said, it should be probably understood that daily dining out is not necessarily a luxury you can do every day now. Also, I ordered a Coke, but when I tasted it, it didn't taste exactly like a normal Coke. Maybe it was watered down or just a bit flat or not exactly the Coca-Cola brand? That was a little bit weird but I didn't ask to get a new drink so I just left it alone. Overall, I don't have any major critiques about this particular visit, my dad had a good time and I got to spend time with my family and that's what matters most. Genesis is by far the WORST SERVER I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE!! Her attitude is nasty, she's inattentive, special instructions on order was not done...TWICE! And had the nerve to give attitude and roll her eyes when we said the order still wasn't right. We declined her taking it back a 3rd time. My husband just didn't eat his meal due to not trusting what would be done to his food. With the over-inflated prices we are charged just for a meal, there is no way we should have to deal with this. I was there last weekend as well and heard how she spoke to the table next to us (even with all the noise, music, and bustle). When Genesis left the table, we spoke with them and to hear what they went through, I was offended for them! I advised them to call corporate or whoever runs the Nautical Mile itself! I video recorded their interaction and sent it to that customer so she can complain with visual proof! What makes it 1000x worse is that our server saw the interaction, saw us speaking with the table, and told us this is not a one time occurrence. So the fact that this is a known issue and she is still there, means this establishment is not concerned with their reputation. And that really says something. And if we don't tip, WE are the bad guys. I don't care how much my bill is, I tip according to SERVICE DELIVERED!! Please do a better job and vetting your employees. We were seated right away, got to sit close to the water, view wasn't to bad. After being seated we just sat there, no one came not even to take a drink order, which the weather were very hot. We then ask a guy if we can order drinks, which he said he's only 13 and can't take any " alcohol order " he'll get someone for us. " still waiting " we then ask another guy if he can take our orders which he also said he can't he'll get someone else. Which he did. The drinks were pretty good. The appetizer wasn't up to standard. We came here after our boat trip and were really hungry, so ordered a few meals and looked at the prices (average cost +-30$) we would think the food should be fresh and tasty. From the whole order, I ate just fries, cause it's one thing they are not making, just throw them in gross oil. The fish of the day - was disgusting, the tacos - were disgusting, chicken fingers - were disgusting. Everything is super fried rich in calories and doesn't taste good. I had a wonderful time at this establishment. I came here with fam and friends. They have indoor seating as well as outdoor seating by the water. We sat outdoors at first but then started to get really cold and had the option to go indoors afterwards. The food was good but not spectacular for the prices here. $$$$ It was expensive for fish tacos and fries. I could get that from Applebee's for a much better price. I could see if it tasted better than anything I've ever had, but it didn't. The drink was good but also not spectacular for $$$20 expensive drink. I don't mind splurging if the food tastes great. Positives: The steamers and grilled octopus appetizers were delicious and the waterfront seating is lovely. Negatives: 1. Service was atrocious. The server was almost intentionally slow. She barely checked in on us and when she was present, she just came across with so much attitude. Upon receiving the octopus appetizer, we requested clean plates (we had used the first set on steamers and they're paper plates so were soggy). We waited a bit and then, not wanting the dish to get cold, I went and requested plates from the bar area. By the time she did come back (with plates, a latent drink and a snarky comment) we were basically done with that app. The most frustrating example was when someone in our party was looking to order a second beer. We could not locate our server anywhere. I asked another server if we could order a drink through her (no) or could she find our server (she didn't know who was working our section and didn't offer to find out). A second server I asked did say she would find her for us. 2. The food is fair to middling at best. Tried a fellow diner's fried clam strip: zero seasoning so it was just flavorless breading. Two of us ordered the lobster roll which had a good amount of meat but was seasoned with nothing more than a LOT of mayonnaise. Neither of us could detect any imparted flavor like tarragon or dill. Or salt or pepper or celery or anything but mayonnaise. Now, here's the kick in the teeth: the lobster roll, we were told, comes with potato chips, which I assumed would perhaps be housemade kettle chips or something worthy of a $32+ entree. No. No, no. It comes with a single serve bag of "40% less fat than regular potato chips" Lay's, that I can only assume were on coupon at the BJ's up the road. I cannot fully articulate how insulting that was. 3. The check included an "admin fee" of $9.27. I mean, what bureaucratic nonsense is this? Who are these administrators? What exactly required administration? What am I paying to have administered? This bland food served on paper plates by some disgruntled fly by night employee was made just that much worse. And I know that Woodcleft Canal businesses make their bones in the short summer season so some gouging here and there is not uncommon. However, some of us aren't seasonal customers so maybe think about encouraging an experience we'd want to repeat. read more
