Nawlins on the Nautical Mile has changed hands and now the restaurant bar location is called Tropix on the Bayou. Indoor and plenty of outdoor sitting available. They offered up live music and a nice tight menu with plenty of tasty looking seafood/American pub style offerings. Opted to try their advertised High Noon beverage a vodka seltzer type beverage which was nice and refreshing, along with their Shrimp Tacos. Shrimp Tacos were just right in sense of size, jammed packed with filling and Shrimp, not being skimpy which is good. Opted to take a try of their pecan pie offering Togo and it was alright. Not overly sweet or nutty, got more of almost a cocoa/chocolate like feel to it. The service, atmosphere, food offerings and pricing were good and fair for what was given. This location is definitely worth a try on the mile for sure. read more

I've been here at least 5 times and can't believe I've never yelped this place. I thought I did. I love it here. The ambience is great! There's seating inside and out. You can boat here or park On The mile. Lisa is the best bartender. She's right on spot. She's taken our order a couple of times as well. She's made great suggestions. I've had the burgers, tacos, quesadillas, wraps, you just can't go wrong. I love this place and recommend it. read more

I went for dinner with a friend and was pretty disappointed. The boat and water views were great, and the waitress and security guard in front were pleasant, but that's where the positive ends. The food was sub-par, and the name of this place keeps changing. A majority of the clientele was also not what it used to be... it felt like we were at a club rather than a water-side restaurant. Having said that, pretty much most of the Nautical Mile in Freeport has changed over the past year or two. It was never classy, but it's even less so now and I don't think I'll be going back any time soon. It's a shame- it used to have a a fun vacation vibe. read more

This place is a complete and utter RIP OFF!! My friends and I were here on Tuesday 8/24/2021. We went to support an artist who has a new song coming out. I already had my doubts about this place because of an incident that happened to me and friends at the end of June 2021. It was a Friday night, a little past 9pm. We went for drinks and food. The hostess charged us $10 a piece and said we could show our paid receipt from the restaurant and get the cover charge back when we left. She took one of my friends' cell phone number and said she would text when a table in the restaurant was available. We sat at one of the outside tables, while we waited. An hour and a couple of drinks later, we still had not received a text. Upon returning to the front, the hostess was gone. One of the security personnel said the kitchen was closed! We were confused? Why were we not notified? So, how could we get our cover charge back, if we didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant? We had to CONVINCE the security personnel to refund our monies. Really? So with that experience fresh in my mind, I still went to support a creative talent. This time, no cover charge. DJ was excellent and the evening started off great when my cousin and I arrived at about 6:30pm. In looking at the drink and appetizer menus, everything was overpriced! The cheapest was a 10oz. Bavarian pretzel for $15! My cousin ordered a $14 drink and we ordered the Buffalo wings for $18. The waitress told us there were eight wings in the platter, it turned out to be six. And speaking of the waitress....she told me she needed a card to run a tab. I obliged. As the night wore on and two other friends joined us, it became increasingly difficult to get her attention. She didn't follow up with us and it seemed she was not in the best of moods. After several attempts of trying to get her attention, I asked my friend to let the waitress know I needed my bill. After returning from the dance floor, a receipt was waiting for me. It was not itemized and included a $2.00 TECH charge. I asked the waitress for an itemized bill. Three beers, the wings and the cocktail came to $56.60! When I asked about the TECH charge, she explained it was the credit card processing fee. I explained to her that I simply asked for the bill, I did not authorize her to charge my credit card. Every establishment I have been to, always gives you the option to pay cash. She pointed to my friend and said my friend authorized it. I know that to be an untruth because my friend, first off denied it and second, knows I always pay cash for my bar tabs. She said fine, threw my card and two dollars at me. I left exactly $54.60 in cash as payment. When I checked my credit card, early Wednesday morning....a charge of $56.60 appeared! I immediately put in a grievance with the card company. I never signed any receipt authorizing the charge. In fact, I have the itemized bill, the merchant copy and customer copy of the bill in my possession. This type of establishment could care less about their guests. Their goal is to make as much money as possible. Even if that means cheating their customers. How many others have been taken advantage of and not even been aware of it? I'm all for patronizing venues that offer good food, good service and a good time. This establishment is not one of these venues. I will never again come here. read more

What a horrible experience Came here with 3 of my friends. The hostesses are confused at the door. Got seated at 7 our order was taken by Dallas at 7:15 3 vegan burgers and wings. Waited and waited by 8:00 we asked Dallas about the status of our food and she said it "should be coming out shortly". A runner came out with food brought it to the table to take it back and gave it to the table near us. About 3 tables that came in after us have gotten some type of food and we haven't gotten anything. 8:15 I asked hey can we get wings since we seen so many people plates coming out of the kitchen and nothing. Dallas was speaking to I assume the manager or boss and he said" it's only an hour not bad or a wise for food." It's 8:50 now and we left. read more

Not a bad spot, and right near the water. There was music and a dance floor open when I was here. The music wasn't overly loud. This spot is located on a pretty happening strip right on the south shore of Long Island. They have a good drink selection though I only had beer myself. Only problem is everything here looks very over-priced. A fish and chips entree was about $27 and everything looked very over-priced and/or with small portions. The fish and chips were ok but that's a very high price for a basic entree. I would expect this in Montauk or the Hamptons, but this ain't them. I'll be speaking with the manager to clarify the reason for the over-priced entrees and appetizers. If I get a satisfactory answer I'll be back and bring my crew. We went looking to have a nice lunch at Nawlins Seafood. Their Cajun & Creole food paired with a Big Easy music and relaxed vibe was always a winner. Unfortunately that's all gone. The resturant is now Tropix in the Bayou ...but where is the Bayou? The only "bayou" thing in the menu is the gumbo and the Albita Brewing Company beer (which they were out of). The food was bland and nothing special, the service was very slow. And gone is the jazz music, in place of a modern play list in Pandora, complete with commercials. Not going back. read more

My fiancé and I came here on Memorial Day for some lunch. Our server was Allison who was super sweet, accommodating and welcoming. We switched our seats because it was a little chilly under the shade and Allison happily told us to pick a spot we feel most comfortable. I ordered a watermelon mojito and my fiancé ordered an original, both with vodka. My watermelon mojito was very tasty, taste exactly like a watermelon. My fiancé's mojito tasted like a green jolly rancher (if that's even a thing). For apps, we ordered half a dozen oysters which were fresh and delicious. I ordered the blackened chicken Caesar salad which was pretty good. My fiance ordered the entree mahi mahi, it honestly look and taste like hospital food (we are medical professionals so we are well aware of how it looks and tastes). I'm giving this place a 4 because of the service and my drink. I would come back for some drinks and apps, def not for the food. read more

What a disappointment this place was honestly. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I arrived with a group of five people to celebrate my nieces graduation and ended up waiting 20 minutes to be attended to at the podium at the entrance. When the hostess finally arrived they said we can wait at the bar in the meantime. The bartender refused to serve my brother in law because he had a Californian ID. In all the countries and states I have traveled to (& I have traveled a lot), I have NEVER had anyone refuse to serve someone because they weren't from that state or country. Usually restaurants and bars always welcome tourism. When I asked the bartender how come they weren't accepting his ID, they simply stated that they just don't and kept bending his ID. When my brother in law asked politely to not bend the ID because he cannot afford to have it damaged since its his only way to fly back to California, the bartender stated, " Well now I'm definitely not serving you because of your attitude". We respectfully walked away and didn't want to pursue any further confrontation at the moment due to the fact that we were with family and didn't want to make the situation even more uncomfortable and distasteful. The lack of even attempting to have the bare minimum of semi decent customer service is completely unacceptable. Im unsure if this was some sort of discrimination or racial issue or just an overall lack of basic human skills to show some adequate customer service and respect to others, but I will definitely warn others about ever coming to this establishment again. read more

Tropix on the Bayou was an amazing place to spend a great summer day. We came here for drinks. We ordered Moscow Mules and they were a little weak. We let our waitress, Dallas, know and she brought us extra shots of vodka to mix into our drinks. Dallas was so pleasant and made our experience at Tropix on the Bayou one to remember.
