It's the rare B&B that offers a tropical getaway along with breakfast. This pool was fantastic.

This lovely B&B in the King William District is a real find. It's just a block from Southtown and a 10-minute stroll to the Riverwalk. Accommodations are comfortable and Lily and Roland, the innkeepers, are gracious and welcoming. The second-story breakfast terrace overlooking historic homes along Madison gives you the sense you're dining in a treehouse. And the three-course breakfast (warm-from-the-oven muffin, fresh fruit and then a hot entree) offers the perfect level of fuel for your day in SA. We stayed in the least expensive room. the Cardinal Room. It's just off the inn's beautiful and private little swimming pool, which was a wonderful escape that we made use of every morning and afternoon. The room turned out to be a good choice, though folks who want a bit more quiet may prefer to stay in one of the street-facing rooms. (The inn's hot tub is located on the deck right outside the room, and if folks are in the hot-tubbin' mood, you might feel like they're all uninvited guests in your bedroom. And if there's a big game on, the crowd at The Friendly Spot, the icehouse located behind the B&B, will make their presence known loudly and often.) But these are nits. The location is ideal for morning walks or runs in the King William District or on the park-like paths that hug the river. The hosts even stock the room with little chocolates. It's a great place to stay in SA, and we hope to return soon.

Thanks to the nice ladies who run it. We enjoyed it!

Superb. My family…read moreand I recently had occasion to spend a few days in the marvelous city of San Antonio. We discovered the King William Manor's "Stonehouse" on VRBO and made a decision to stay there for our entire vacation. First off, Allison, with whom we dealt primarily, was very helpful. Not only did she help us with the rental by ensuring everything was ready upon our arrival, but she was incredibly useful by providing us lots of good tips on how to get around and where to eat. The Stonehouse, itself, was just what we were looking for: a chic, stylish home away from home that was also highly functional, clean, ideally located, and not overly pricey. Add the adjacent pool and it was a no-brainer to stay here. Allison and Craig have obviously put a lot of time and effort into renovating this home. Although it looks very unassuming from the outside, it boasts a lot of nice touches inside such as new paint and tile, new granite countertops, a nice HD flatscreen TV, huge master bath, new washer and dryer, and some pretty posh furniture options. It was perfect for me and my wife, along with our daughter and my 74 y/o father. Everything works and the house is/was immaculate. WIFI is fast and reliable. A nearby HEB grocery store is only .5 miles away if you need groceries. Numerous trendy cafes, bars, and restaurants line S. Alamo street upon which this house is situated. Two nearby VIVA bus stops make getting around SUPER easy and cheap. The southern end of the famed River Walk is a five minute walk away. Street traffic is minimal and generally quiet. We all slept well during our stay, especially since the provided beds and linens are so comfortable and soft. Seriously, this place is a hidden gem. It is perfect for a small family or two couples wanting to visit San Antonio. Centrally located to River Walk, Tower if the America's, and numerous dining options (I strongly recommend Rosario's, just up the street), Stone House is a perfect San Antonio vacation rental property.

The exterior of the house is plush with bushes and grass with a garden. In the backyard area, there was a housed indoor pool - an unexpected surprise. Cindy, the innkeeper was fantastic! She was extremely warm and welcoming when we first arrived. She provided maps, points of interests, and fantastic restaurants to dine at while we were spending an extended weekend here. She was also the server at breakfast in the mornings. The Jackson House is located right on the outskirts of the heart of San Antonio. Every attraction, (The Riverwalk, Alamo and Alamo Plaza, Tower of the Americas, and lots of restaurants) were all within less than a mile of walking distance. So, besides being in a prime location, The Jackson House was a vintage throwback B&B with a southern charm feel. The room had a fireplace and a giant bathtub as well. In the early afternoons chocolate chip cookies, lemonade, and iced water were provided in the lobby guest area. Breakfast was freshly prepared each morning. You started with a cup of fruit and then served eggs or pancakes, home baked muffins, crisp bacon and or potatoes. Everything was tasty and packed with a hearty punch. The dining room was actually located in the main B&B inn called The Oge House - about 2 blocks away, which you can either walk to each morning or hop in the car for a quick drive. Overall, The Jackson House provided all the pleasant charms of a southern B&B that you'd come to expect. It certainly made my San Antonio getaway a special one!

Not to mention the price is reasonable and parking is free! We stayed in room #6 and loved everything about it from the skylights, the fireplace, the antique claw foot bath, and the plush bedding, it was perfect. The breakfast was not gourmet but very tasty and definitely better than the generic complimentary breakfast you get at chain hotels! Cookies and lemonade are kept in the dining area for afternoon snack. Didn't get to enjoy the pool but it's nice that we had the option! We will definitely be back!

Our room was fine, clean and other than the fact the TV didn't work (wasn't there to watch it anyway) but mentioned it and it was working later in the day. The jacuzzi tub did not work at all, but again not the end of the world (unless we really wanted to have a tub, which we did not). Location is awesome, the historic King William neighborhood is really beautiful and along the River walk and easy to walk to other places of interest in San Antonio. My only criticisms would be that even though there was practically no other guests while we were there, the owner Don would not allow us a late check out. Seems he's a stickler for 'the rules' and while I checked out before my cousin, neither he nor his wife Lisel were on property to store my cousin's luggage as they promised they would. Nor did either answer their phone when she called them and only got voicemail. To further exacerbate the situation after check out they immediately changed the keypad code so that my cousin couldn't get back in to pick up her luggage (which she left in the foyer). So for her, it was super annoying. For me, not so much. But anyone wanting to stay can take the review into account. It's a pricey stay and seems it can be a hit or miss experience.

Walking distance to a lot of great establishments. Free (if spotty) wifi. We stayed in the Guenther Room; having our own private entrance was a welcome surprise. However, if you do happen to want the Guenther, bring ear plugs and plenty of Tylenol PM... waiting to buoyantly infringe upon your sleeping experience, in no particular order: Endless traffic, utility vehicle back up safety alerts, trains, construction, chatter from early risers on the patio having to speak up to compete with the road noise, ivories being tickled on the living room piano (hopefully by a person), silverware being clanged in preparation for breakfast in the dining area and guests laughing heartily as they eat. All of which hurts, literally, after a night at 1919 and Joe's Blues. Not all of this was Beckmann Inn's fault, of course: they can't help the noisy traffic outside, or my wife and I being in our 30's not 50's (i.e. probably not gonna quite make that 9 a.m.-sharp breakfast call... or wait, would 20 be too young for that?). Also, no one forced me to drink that last tumbler of Johnnie Walker Black the night before. But, that was my experience.

I stayed here again a few months ago and admit that the service wasn't as personal as when the innkeepers were on site. However, the inn is historic, quaint, comfortable, in a fabulous location and the full breakfasts deserve at least a 3.5 rating. I was very impressed with the flexibility of the Inn Manager. I bought several Living Social vouchers and realized I could not use them before expiration. She extended the full voucher offer until I was able to use them at my convenience. . This inn deserves my 4 rating and I am hopeful that other satisfied guests will take the time to review the Beckmann Inn so it's average rating will not be dependent on a single bad customer experience.

There were a few different types of rooms to choose from and we chose the Penthaus 15 because it was on the River. This room is not for tall people (we are not). Choose another room if you're tall! We loved that it's all original buildings from 1800s in the area. Had good plumbing and amazing AC (thank God!) and quite a bit of charm. Please note this is not a bed n breakfast anymore. But The Pantry is a part of the main office and they serve breakfast for reasonable prices. My lox and bagel was amazing and my husband's taco was delicious. Breakfast was a local affair. So many people and everyone was small town friendly. We sat on the porch but there were tables inside and on the back patio. The Texas Pecan Coffee was so good I bought some to bring home. Location of the mansion was perfect! We never even got in our car all weekend!! Shops, live music, bars, parks, river tubing was all within a few blocks. So close that if we needed to cool down (June in TX with no ac in some shops and restaurants) we would just swing back to the room for about 15 mins, cool down, and then keep going. So much live music to enjoy. I see some reviews that complain about music at night but we were not bothered by any of it. We had to strain to hear anything outside our room. The Inn provides earplugs but we didn't use them. We've already promised each other to come back again in the fall when it's a little cooler. And of course we will stay at the Gruene Mansion Inn.

We did all the activities on the ranch during our long weekend & left with fresh eggs that we plan to hatch!!! The amount of surprises & animals was completely unexpected. It's truly a special place that takes amazing care of their animals & it shows. Right before we left we were able to see something completely amazing: 1 hour old twin Nigerian Dwarf goats still getting birth goop licked up by momma goat! This place is truly a great experience for kids! The first night we did the night adventure hike & walked through splendid & quiet darkness, we were amazed at the tranquility & abundance of stars filling the sky. We found deer poop & learned about venomous spiders, & cacti while finding a live vulture looking down at us! We met super friendly donkeys & horses that didn't want to leave us, they were so super friendly! Our kiddos were allowed to chase a couple of Emus (yeah, that's not a sentence I ever expected to ever write in my life!), those things are so magestic it was amazing to see them running with such easy while our kiddos were so chaotic running behind them lol All this happened in the dark, really cool & such a unique experience! Then we met an arctic fox named Conan. He was just recently rescued so his habitat is getting built while he is in this temp enclosure & the final one will be huge and air conditioned. The mornings were exciting because of the fresh eggs & lively chickens. There is a wonderful array of feathered friends that roam free with the goats through the day, greeting us randomly. We loved how all the animals were given so much free range & were so happy & super friendly! All these rescues truly found the best sanctuary, they are so well cared for! The exotic bird adventure was so much fun for the kids & parents. We got to hold so many parrots & we met the two fun emus again. We got to interact with all the birds as they talked & walked all over us, all so very exciting! Our labradoodle was able to make friends with the local dogs & was able to run off-leash safely behind a huge fenced open space while our kiddos explored the grounds, finding bugs, bones & delighting their imaginations while mommy & daddy relaxed on our lawn chairs so happy for the down time! This place felt so safe for my kids to roam and explore. The petting adventure was so much fun for the kids & parents, we got to meet everyone on the ranch & every adventure is a good length long & we learned so much about every animal thanks to the very professional guide & owner, Micky. We even did the horse riding - all 6 of us got to ride together & enjoyed the peaceful ride with an exciting ending of riding a galloping horse. We all loved it! We left with amazing memories & would recommend this ranch to anyone, especially to those with kids! Vicky & Micky were super accommodating to our constantly changing plans & worked on rearranging our schedules depending on kids' needs. We kept constant communications via text & made sure we had everything we needed down to the pepper, salt & vegetable oil. We absolutely had the most magical experience throughout our 3 night stay, especially with our random goat visits, that was so unique & special! Thank you Vicky & Micky & Amanda & MJ!!
