The house itself is beautiful but outdated with the wrong furniture. We loved the breakfast that was served each morning but would have appreciated an indoor dining room or at least options for salt, pepper and butter offered along with additional silverware in the room. We really wanted to like this place however, there are many things that need to be updated. The big thing was light that filtered through all the blinds which made it difficult to sleep as the outside porch light had to kept on. The bed in the hummingbird room was way too firm and I didn't sleep well for three nights. The owner Lily was kind enough to cool the room down and provided another fan. The bathtub/shower was too high for me to enter or exit and need my spouse to help - steps are needed. We did like the refrigerator and microwave being available. The hot tub was nice but apparently being deaf we didn't fully hear her state how to remove the cover. I would make updated changes and re-open the B and B. Quiet neighborhood and about 20-25 minute walk to riverwalk. Uber is helpful to use. Lots of restaurants nearby.

It was still AMAZING and left me wishing that I could stay longer! My King Room was huge and ultra clean and comfortable! Taking a break from work, I headed to the pool deck, which was small but sufficient and had comfortable chairs to sun in. I remembered an amazing redfish dish from Ostra, enjoyed so many years ago... I really wanted to eat at Ostra again this visit, because I saw redfish on the menu and wondered if it was really as good as my memory of it. I was initially bummed that Ostra was closed for a private event during my stay, BUT my disappointment quickly turned to excitement when I saw the same dish offered on the room service menu. YES!! It was as good if not better than my memory of it! Finally and importantly, the individuals working in valet, front desk, and room service were so service driven and friendly! Overall, I cannot wait to stay at the Mokara again in the hopefully, not so distant future!

She is simply the best. Comfort, the level comfort here is the best. The AC blows ice cold, the beds are super comfy. Everything they do here is to make your stay perfectly the best. They have fresh fruit and cookies and water scattered throughout the building. What a nice touch. The king premium room is super spacious and very nice. The spa, area is amazing. I really enjoyed the Jacuzzi, sauna and the relaxation room. Followed by the Massage. Everything is perfect here. I haven't had one issue at this hotel. Everyone that works here is simply top-notch and I understand the level of class at this hotel is all about. Honestly I never have left a review for a hotel but this one made me want to even just to give a…read moreheads up to others..... to set the scene me and my husband had drove 9 hours that day and finally got to the hotel. When I got to the room it was immediately a bit older and worn looking than the photos. As I always do I checked the bed first only to find little hairs everywhere on the bed and headboard... animal maybe? Then as I looked more there were visible stains on the sheets. They most definitely don't wash the top quilt so we removed that for the rest of the stay. My husband then took photos and brought them to front desk, they apologized and gave us new sheets yet we had to make the bed.... Last thing I want to do after a long day but I'm definitely not gonna sleep on the stained sheets....I honestly thought about switching hotels I even cried tbh because I was tired and upset. but decided to stick it out. The bathroom is fine but tiny. The shower barely got hot the whole stay and mind you I was there for a week (I had no choice). The paint on all the walls was literally peeling and chipped. The rug was dirty when we got to the room. The floor made me not really want to walk around without shoes on after showering because it felt gross. There was a spiders nest on our door frame and could mostly always hear music but whatever that's fine. No TV which is totally okay for us but something to note. We were moving so we had a lot of our values in our cars and while I don't mind the parking situation it was a bit scary as there were occasional homeless people and people that didn't look up to good wandering around the parking lot.. but what can you do? For the most part it's a lot of runners and pickleballers! I actually love the area it's in l, just again something to note! Honestly I was just disappointed. It's so cute in some areas and has great potential I just think they need to maintain their rooms better and thoroughly clean them. Oh and when I got my sheets changed again.... ANOTHER STAIN. Like just throw out stained sheets it's gross. It looked like someone peed on it. Also the sheets sucked and the bed wasn't very comfy. I'm all for the vintage feel, I'm not complaining about that it's just that it's not kept up well. I will say as my week went on and I accepted the cons I enjoyed the pool and pickleball courts! The coffee truck outside was super good and the Le labo soap was nice! I can't say I'd recommend the hotel sadly but there aren't a lot of cute boutique hotels in SATX so it's sad.. they just need to work on some things! Sorry for the rant.

I booked Sol Cypress' best room, the Presidential Suite, for a special occasion expecting a certain…read morestandard of care. Unfortunately, our anniversary stay became a cautionary tale in severe sanitation hazards and a complete breakdown in management accountability. When we turned on the in-room whirlpool jets, dark, organic sludge and particulate matter spewed directly into the tub. Even worse, the attached photos were all taken AFTER the hotel sent staff to "remediate" the room. Yes, the state in these photos are what they consider remediated. It was an immediate, glaring health and sanitation failure in the hotel's premier suite. Concurrently, a facility defect caused moisture to pool in the suite's closet area. This exposure completely ruined a limited-edition Louis Vuitton Keepall travel bag we had stored there, leaving it unusable due to a persistent, permeating odor. I documented everything and reached out to the property. On January 10th, the Assistant General Manager replied, apologizing and stating verbatim: "What you described is absolutely not the standard we hold ourselves to, and I am truly sorry that your stay, especially one meant to celebrate your anniversary, has been impacted in this way." I was assured the evidence was forwarded to the General Manager. Instead of fixing the physical hazard or taking responsibility for the ruined luggage, the General Manager completely reversed the hotel's stance a few days later. On January 16th, they sent a brief note stating they "now consider this matter closed" with zero resolution. I sent this entire documented timeline to Marriott Corporate to ask if they stand behind this kind of franchisee conduct. They failed to respond. If you are considering this property--especially their premium suite--proceed with extreme caution. The physical issues were bad enough, but the real liability here is a management team that will put an apology in writing one day, and completely refuse to resolve the issue the next, while Corporate looks the other way.

It's away from the hubbub of downtown but still very much within walking distance. I got a room overlooking the riverwalk and it was a treat getting to wake up and turn in for the night looking over the water. My room was spacious and met my expectations design-wise and amenity-wise from a property in the Tribute Portfolio. The fitness center, which also overlooks the river, is on the smaller side (2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, free weights etc) but is sufficient for a basic workout. I also passed by the laundry room and it looks like it's free as I didn't see a slot for coins. Highly recommend the Sol Cypress if you're here to explore San Antonio!

Seeing all these horrendous reviews makes me wonder if we just got luckier than some other people -…read morethough we did have a few unresolved issues. Our room was fine, clean and other than the fact the TV didn't work (wasn't there to watch it anyway) but mentioned it and it was working later in the day. The jacuzzi tub did not work at all, but again not the end of the world (unless we really wanted to have a tub, which we did not). Location is awesome, the historic King William neighborhood is really beautiful and along the River walk and easy to walk to other places of interest in San Antonio. My only criticisms would be that even though there was practically no other guests while we were there, the owner Don would not allow us a late check out. Seems he's a stickler for 'the rules' and while I checked out before my cousin, neither he nor his wife Lisel were on property to store my cousin's luggage as they promised they would. Nor did either answer their phone when she called them and only got voicemail. To further exacerbate the situation after check out they immediately changed the keypad code so that my cousin couldn't get back in to pick up her luggage (which she left in the foyer). So for her, it was super annoying. For me, not so much. But anyone wanting to stay can take the review into account. It's a pricey stay and seems it can be a hit or miss experience.
