I had a 3 p.m. appointment and called repeatedly during my drive to let the office know I'd be a few minutes late due to an unexpected road closure. I could not reach anyone. I arrived about 13 minutes behind schedule.
The ultrasound technologist who assisted me, "Eena," was noticeably unpleasant and unprofessional. She applied gel, glanced briefly at the screen, and immediately stopped, saying she could not finish because I was late and another patient who was "on-time" was waiting. While I understand that lateness can disrupt scheduling, I would have accepted waiting to be seen after those on-time patients. Instead, I was met with clear irritation rather than care.
When I corrected an earlier mistake about my last cycle dates, she was dismissive and rude, as if there was no room for an honest mistake. I also overheard her greet the next patient warmly, quite a contrast to how I was treated.
To add to the discomfort, she inaccurately stated I was there for bleeding or spotting, which was not the case. That miscommunication, combined with her demeanor, left me feeling uneasy and poorly cared for. If that's all she knew and still chose to be unkind I'm scared and thinking she might actually hurt me during my vaginal ultrasound that I'm currently waiting for or worse, misdiagnosis me intentionally.
I have visited multiple Novant locations and on another occasion where I was late and given the opportunity to properly communicate, I was still treated respectfully. This experience fell far short of the standard I've come to expect and does not reflect the quality of care Novant usually provides. read more
