My wisdom teeth removal consultation at First Coast Oral Surgery was a breeze. Dr. Skigen was nice,…read moreprofessional, and explained the process very well. The appointment was fast. I have my surgery appointment set and I'm anxiety-free because the initial appointment went so well.

Originally I gave this place a 5 star review, but since I've changed my mind. I had all 4 wisdom…read moreteeth out a week ago today and I am still experiencing SEVERE pain. I went and saw Dr Stakem on Monday to make sure nothing was wrong, and again today because I haven't noticed any improvements. The nurses have been AMAZING- so nice, caring and understanding- but Dr Stakem should go take a crash course on bedside table manners. He basically told me that I was being a cry baby and that the pain would go away, that since I was up and speaking that I wasn't experiencing any "real" pain. He insinuated that I needed to just chill out and that the pain would go away and that I had a low pain tolerance. I'm sorry, but for someone that's been through surgery before and had many injuries, I don't think it's crazy of me to want to make sure I'm okay when 7 days after the wisdom tooth procedure I'm still LITERALLY crying from pain. I will never be returning to this "doctor" for any help or advice. He made me feel like an idiot and I left wanting to cry. Nurses should go find somewhere better to work because they were great. Some doctor.

I have needed two root canals and had symptoms for another that Dr Currie diagnosed as something else. He was right and I did not need a root canal on that tooth. He and the whole staff at St. Johns Endodontics have been 100% kind, careful, caring and super competent! By far the best people I have ever had work in my mouth! I am 66 and retired after running a very large business that was focused on customer service across 2000 employees so I know what I'm talking about when I see great customer service like I've experienced with Dr Currie and St. Johns Endodontics!! And the building is beautiful inside with indirect lighting - great music - and wonderful art including some calming art on the monitors above your head while having a procedure done - first class all the way! I can't imagine going anywhere else for a consultation about a root canal

I'm sure St Johns Endodontics do great root canals however when I called for an appointment, I had…read morealready had a CT scan and new x-rays and pan done the week before. The woman I spoke with insisted that it is their protocol to have a new CT scan done in new x-rays. You've got to be kidding me! In what world is that necessary? These new CT scan machines are the cats meow to the company that designed them and sells them and the doctors that buy them pay a pretty penny for him so I'm sure they want to pay for them. But not on me thank you very much that increased risk and unnecessary need. I'm kind of glad it went that way because I disagreed with getting two more root canals and all the expense that was going to go into my mouth when it made more sense to do two extractions and one bone graph and implant for the same price of a bunch of nonsense that would've hurt me in the long run. Every tooth I have ever lost came from having a root canal that weakened the tooth and ultimately required it to be extracted. Root canals are bad for you. Avoid them at every cost. I worked 20 years in the Dental field, and it was quite a while ago, but root canals are still done the same way, the risks are still the same. A lot of them are unnecessary and that hasn't changed either. Good luck to all of you but look at more updated repairs to your mouth.
